And I'm 16. Been playing 2 and a half years. And after meeting some other MX bassists up in Scotland, it makes me think I should be better for how long I've been playing. It makes me think I'm not awful, they're just exceptional though!

ill tell wat gtar is awesome a randy rhoads flying v one of the members of my band has that it kiks *ss

Joe 07-27-2005 03:43 PM
Wow it sound like your amps arent that great...what type are they?

any heads or cabs?
Meh, 150 Watt Line 6 (great tone), 50 Watt Fender (average tone), 15 Watt Crate (great tone) but no heads or cabs. I was thinking about getting a half stack, but I decided I'd rather spend money on recording supplies so I stuck with the Line 6

Yea it's pretty awesome. I have a lower model jackson, the RR was 300+ over my budget. Advise for anyone that wants to buy a jackson, if you play rock or metal make sure you get good sound in your bends because on mine it sucks

Britton 07-27-2005 03:44 PM

That's Great um let me see....Im 16 too my bands been together about 5 or 6 months and
mx is the only website in the world

I think it's all about how much you play, I've been playing for over 3 years, practiced everyday for 3-4 hrs. sometimes less sometimes more, just a mean. I have jammed with other guitarists and found I was better than some and worse than others who played longer in terms of years than me.

Okay yea that's a nice setup but yea you might wanna trade soma that stuff
out for a halstack....but then again recording is more important

Britton 07-27-2005 03:47 PM

Oh and if you get a jackson dean etc etc etc pay more for the floyd rose

The_dude 07-27-2005 03:47 PM

ya true burton cuz u can play for 20 years and play one day a weak and that person would suk prolly more then a player who played for 2 years everyday

Huber 07-27-2005 03:47 PM

I don't see how guitar rigs etc... are expensive as drum kits. If you're including amps and all that, you have to include drum mics, hardware, percussion instruments, heads (if they didn't cost you about 100 bucks, they probably aren't worth it).

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:47 PM

My opinion? I don't like V's!

I only have one bass and one amp... (My squier amp and bass both broke ¬_¬)

The amp is a combo, but that's not a bad thing... The DB900 i'd want is a combo too. Combos are good :) The DB500 I have can get any tone you want out of it (and digitally records the settings...), especially combined with the EQ on my bass.

I'm 16, my band has been together for 1 yea rand a half. We've done a total of 5 songs and 3 gigs. See? I'd rather go so much faster. I would have wanted to play 20 gigs and recorded a cd by now

The_dude 07-27-2005 03:49 PM

there not even close to the price of drum kits if u bought 2200 worth of gtar stuff which is top notch quality the same quality in drums would be like 4600

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:49 PM

Why does he need to buy a halfstack...? Isn't the Line 6 a halfstack too? (my guitarist has one at 150W in a halfstack... I assume its the same?)

Its all about tone, not just having a 4x12 cab going :)

:smash:

Britton 07-27-2005 03:49 PM

I don't gig yet ...my band is a little young for that im looking into it though
but for my puurposes I love my three guitars they sound good so im happy there
but I blew my amp last week and am gonna go for a 50watt marshall[I]

Yea, it's a combo. It's got excellent tone, great clean and distortion. it's got 6 effects and 12 types of amps. I don't want to trade it for a half stack because i didn't like the half stack at the same price. If i traded for a more expensive amp i'd want either tube or like a really expensive nice stack. man i need some roadies...

They have a half stack, but its not as good in my opinion. and it is all about tone. if the tone is good, i'll get it, then i'll worry about cabs and etc.

Completely true but he led me to beleive he had a couple 30s and 15s and they were not comapatible in which case it would be better to have one mp whith the same amount of power as three or four

hethamulburton 07-27-2005 03:52 PM

I hate blowing them up, when you go to get them repaired they're like 1000000000000 bucks please. **** it, I just buy new ones, do it all the time.

Okay that make a lot more sense to me

Read it wrong I guess

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:53 PM

I was in my last band for a little under a year and a half. We had a CD done, and about a dozen gigs (bit sporadic... Not too bad though. One a month or so is a good number!).

I thought I went through demonstrating the cost of a rig compared to drums before...?

So unless anyone can give me a different view on the price of a kit and tell me the prices I've been told are very, very wrong, then... Meh...

DaveTheAmazing 07-27-2005 03:53 PM

Can anyone but not hear any of the bass in any Metallica song at all? Apart from teh bass solos of course, lol, and the horrible shuddery sound in the background on AFJA.

?

The_dude 07-27-2005 03:53 PM

what do u guys think the worst metallica album is

i think its garageinc.

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:54 PM

Simple solution...? Don't blow your amps up! Seriously, what do you keep doing to them to have to get them repaired all the time!?

They turned it down to piss off Jason. If you crank up your bass it'll be a little bit better.

Done three shows (one was only one song) and recorded a three song demo. We're not as good as i'd like to be and we're slow (like I've said)
Is there A worst Metallica album?
No.

This is the first time I've done it I think it was cause my Boss gfx5 pedal

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:56 PM

I can hear the bass fine in most songs... Maybe that comes from listening for bass more? I have a better ear for it? Definitey more audible post AJFA though. Cliff wasn't too audible in a lot of songs. Jason usually was Black Album onwards.

Yea sometimes its hard to hear but I can;t wait for the new album
rob is really good (in my opinion) I thin it will sound really good

fatbandit 07-27-2005 03:58 PM

I wasn't talking to you so much if you've done it just once... But I'm sure treating amps with respect means they will never blow up? Maybe a jack input will become loose from frequent use or something, but not blow up!
