metronome helps with speed, idik
I'm goin' through it right now too, but I'm not going to quit everything I do and kill myself over it :-/

mainly cause I had 3 friends who killed themselves last year in the span of 2 months, and know how that affects people..
That's actually really insensitive. You're implying that people who suffer from severe depression are weak.

yo i have back pain t00 but u dont see me taking pain meds cause im tuff and ppl who take pain meds r pussis

just sayin' lol. that's pretty rough tho, bad luck for you i guess.

repcak 01-15-2008 03:12 PM
yeah I'd definitely recommend a metronome with the whole solos thing...Recording the solos I wrote for my band's cd was gay because I have a tendencie to play everything the way I'm used to, and I also have a tendencie to play everything way ahead of the tempo when recording. I suck :(
this happend to me last friday;

i said to play slower, cause the solo is pretty fast and in the end i was shredding too fast so i was always off the beat.

the problem was that 1) it was pretty cold, so no one was warmed up 2) the solo is not easy (for me) 3) its a change from 8ths to triplets and with a metronome it won't be a problem, but while playing the solo i haven't kept attention to the drums so i played it too fast

how ironic, to say "play it slow" and then play the solo too fast... lol

gmoneyguy 01-15-2008 03:12 PM

Not really, he just saying that his depression isn't that bad.

Um that's because MOST PEOPLE WHO DO SUFFER FROM SEVERE DEPRESSION ARE WEAK, DUMBASS.

3 of my friends who suffered from depression killed themselves over it. Case fucking closed, asshole.

Its not a matter of being weak, especially if you look at the situation not feeling what they are.

Shred Danson 01-15-2008 03:17 PM

Eh, true, I guess. But damn. There's other ****ing options besides killing yourself and making your loved ones endure a long period (aka lifetime) of grief...

There is but (im not trying to excuse it) sometimes that depression is so bad you're really not think clearly. I mean emotion clouds judgment, and if you have an intense amount of that emotion going on your judgment will be skewed in proportion to the emotional imbalance.
Its not a matter of being weak, especially if you look at the situation not feeling what they are.
exactly;

i have depression since i'm 19;
once i stood in front of the window (4th floor) and wanted to jump.

i didn't cause i'm still here.

i had to learn to live with it and last year i decided to got a doctor; i took pills for a half year and then i stopped... i'm fine now, though depression haven't disappeared.

its not a matter of being weak, its a matter of some chemistry not working in your body and of course it has to do with yourself and your life.
its hard... my aunt killed herself some years ago, leaving my her two children and her husband... i still remember that day as it would be yesterday.

I know, I've been there. Tried to slit my throat once. Thank God someone stopped me.. I just think it's the most selfish thing you can do..not just to yourself but to everyone else. After last year, I'm really, really spiteful towards that sort of stuff.

The best thing you can do is show support, and having gone through it, you can help much more. Being able to empathize will truly help.

repcak 01-15-2008 03:25 PM

oh damn... good that you haven't.

while standing in front of the window i was thinking about all the people i would leave: parents, sister, friends... i didn't care; i haven't felt anything in this moment.
afterwards i said to myself: listen to NIN for the last time and if you still want to jump afterwards, do it... it sounds stupid but tbh. With Teeth saved my life!

gmoneyguy 01-15-2008 03:27 PM

I can't tell you how many times I used to think about driving off a bridge or into a concrete median.

This is true, but it's hard to show support when a) you don't know where the guy is and b) he's turned his cell phone off to prevent anyone from contacting him.

Eh, I hate when people think irrationally :(

well start with this then

how to NOT show support:
I'm goin' through it right now too, but I'm not going to quit everything I do and kill myself over it :-/
do i understand you correctly?

you once tried to kill yourself, so you know the feeling/emotions being at this point, but afterwards you changed your mind: you think now that ppl who kill themselves are irrational and "stupid".... do i understand you, or not?

Um, your missing the point.

I go through depression all the ****ing time, but I'm not going to let that stop me from keepin' on anymore, because who knows, there could be something better the next day. I understand people act irrationally out of clouded judgement; I JUST SAID I TRIED TO DO IT ONCE, TOO LOL. But damn. There's other ways to "treat" depression.

Well, after I realized how stupid and irrational I myself was for trying that shit, yeah I think people who commit suicide are irrational. Especially if it's over being depressed; that can always be treated or changed. Right now, I'm massively depressed over stupid reasons. Whatever, I know I'll get over it sometime.

Like I said, the reason I get so pissed off at this is because so many of my friends have either killed themselves or tried to kill themselves. So I'm a very, very bitter person when it comes to it. Even though I have tried. I know that sounds hypocritical and contradictive but I don't give a ****..

I'm off for a while though. Job and car looking time for me. Yay.

This

gmoneyguy 01-15-2008 03:47 PM

it is stupid and irrational, but when you suffer from severe depression, you're not thinking objectively or rationally.

I meant show support with in reason, if hes doing that there is only so much you can do. Which is not a whole lot.

repcak 01-15-2008 03:59 PM

@ICB: it sounds paradox, but i can understand you!

@Pate: no, read my post again... i was thinking about them, but i didn't care about them anymore. it was not my parents and friends who saved me, but NIN ;)
i thought about them, cause i thought, that maybe i won't do it, if i think about my parents - but it didn't work for me.... so i said: listen to NIN and this helped in the end.
