My friend said it was someone named Jiminy Pooge or something, but I think he's a liar.

Woodstock 02-21-2005 08:52 PM

No, I think he was that brown guy who taught George Harrison to play sitar...

alright, I think I killed the joke now.

Badmoon 02-21-2005 09:08 PM

The Byrds - You Ain't Going Nowhere
The Byrds - My Back Pages

Better than the originals by Bob Dylan.

Jam2Me 02-21-2005 09:15 PM

Yeah I think I like most of the covers of his songs better than the originals...until one of you names one and I go "Oh shoot."
In half an hour Tommy is starting on the TV. I look forward to watching it.
I just finished watching that. Good times

thickasabrick 02-21-2005 09:38 PM

Hahaha I didn't understand why you guys were suddenly acting like such noobs....then I clicked back a page and realized why. N00bfest 2005.

Subterranean Homesick Blues: Bob Dylans version is waaaay better than RCHP's version. I didn't even realize it was the same song until I saw the name, then I was like "now why would they write a song with the same title as a Dylan song."

edit- I just finished watching Tommy, although I was half asleep for most of it, so I just closed my eyes and listened to it instead of actually watching it. Just as good either way.
Jethro Tull rules man.

Anyone like Rush? Or Yes? or Cooper? Or ELP?
Great choices. I'm glad to see newcomers on these forums like classic prog rock.

Hey Badmoon. I was watching this special on SNL from 75-80, and it showed a clip of the Grateful Dead. Do you know who that female singer was?

Badmoon 02-21-2005 10:06 PM

Donna Jean Godchaux, wife of Keith Godchaux (keyboardist at that time). She has a great voice.

Beatles - Help
Aerosmith - Jesus is on the Main Line
Eric Clapton - Nobody Loves You When You're Down and Out

What do I win?

clown_phobia 02-22-2005 01:37 AM

You don't win anything. These are the ones I could think of:

The Beatles - Help ("Help me if you can, I'm feeling down")
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb ("I heard that you were feeling down")

Walrus Gumboot 02-22-2005 07:22 AM

Yeah, immediatly Help came to mind

Such an interesting movie, Help is. Has anyone seen it?

Today I picked up a George Harrison Import, it was new listed at $10.98 so I figured I couldn't go wrong after seeing Jeff Lynne's name on the back, you couldn't see the tracklisting on it though, so I open it and discover three songs :( although htey are great songs: "Any Road" "Marwa Blues" and "Any Road" enhanced section whatever that means.

I also picked up Old & In The Way for those of you who don't know much about them it's Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Peter Rowan, Vassar Clements, and John Kahn. It's an awesome bluegrass CD.

My final CD was the two-disc Live Art CD by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. That CD is truly amazing.
