I agree, awesome song. Neil Young is one of my favorite song writers ever.

thickasabrick 02-21-2005 05:10 PM

What Greatest Hits album? I have Decade, which is similiar, but I don't have his greatest hits album.

Is my avatar all messed up?

Illmatic 02-21-2005 05:10 PM

Your avatar is fine.

ANd he released a Greatest Hits just this year, I think.

Nope, you're good.

BillCosby 02-21-2005 05:13 PM

I like my distorted avatar.

It says OC somewhere in there.

thickasabrick 02-21-2005 05:20 PM

I don't like when artists just come out with a Greatest Hits out of nowhere. Some bands have way too many greatest hits albums.

I think a band should write/record/tour and do all that stuff that active bands do, and when they decide to quit, they should make a big announcement, maybe do a farewell tour, and then release their greatest hits album. They shouldn't do what some bands do and release a few albums, release a greatest hits album, release a few more, release another greatest hits, go on a farewell tour, release another album etc etc etc. I think Cher has had about 20 different farewell tours over the past few decades.

1. Down by the River
2. Cowgirl in the Sand
3. Cinnamon Girl
4. Helpless
5. After the Gold Rush
6. Only Love Can Break Your Heart
7. Southern Man
8. Ohio
9. The Needle and the Damage Done
10. Old Man
11. Heart of Gold
12. Like a Hurricane
13. Comes a Time
14. Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)
15. Rockin' in the Free World
16. Harvest Moon

Very lacking if you ask me.

Illmatic 02-21-2005 06:05 PM

I heard there were only like, five songs on it that weren't on his 1977 Greatest Hits album.

thickasabrick 02-21-2005 06:15 PM

Ya he shoulda made it longer. The thing I don't like about Greatest Hits albums is exactly what the name describes, it usually only has their hits. My favourite songs by an artist aren't always their hits...usually I buy a greatest hits album and find like ten of my favourite songs aren't even on it. They usually just put the most mainstream/chart topping songs on it, not always the bands best songs.

Same one I have. I was annoyed it didn't have This Note's For You, but it's ok if you're just getting into Neil.

Jam2Me 02-21-2005 06:33 PM

A Decade of Hits by the Allman Brothers is a good compilation, it has their commercial hits and along with it some of their best songs.

I got that. It's pretty good, although I wish I'd gotten Live at the Fillmore East instead.

Classic Rock has brought so much more meaning to music for me. Anyone heard of "Bold As Love" by Jimi Hendrix? It's a great song. Has anyone seen "White Summer" by Jimmy Page, it's a great piece of guitar. I also like some bands that aren't so popular now, like Ten Years After, and Robin Trower.
