Emo is such a stupid genre. It could mean anything!
how could it "mean anything" |
Yeah, metal fans are homos most of the time.
This BM Castevet is really cool though. They have a lot of variation, some DM riffs, some hardcore riffs, even a few skram-ish riffs (of course I doubt they realize this, and they and their fans would rage so hard if they read that).
this is still on the same page for me so just gonna say I found Stones/Salts super boring edit: also bands getting told 'f off' at the board is so lame like how do you fuck up getting into canada of all fucking places |
I'm not saying the genre is bad. I just mean that no one really understands what it means. People labelled bands like Fall Out Boy as "emo."
|
well theyre wrong
and you're still wrong |
lol lots of people understand what emo means you have been around one too many 14 year old scene girls
|
... special3ff3cts... not satisfied until every corner of sputnikmusic knows how misinformed he is

|

|
kind of surprised new hightide hasn't blown up
|

Porch Luck has a few great songs... they basically remind me of Grown Ups minus the sublime awesomeness but they're still good
|
They're different for me from Grown Ups. I could honestly do without Grown Up's vocals and just listen to all the tasty jams, but Hightide always seemed to be more about the songwriting and their sound is more of a synthesis of emo and pop-punk.
Their singers a real nice guy, one time before I saw them play we were both sitting on a couch and I was basically really drunk and being ridiculous, and then later when I saw him start playing I was like holy shit. Felt like a dick, but he was real kind. |
Hightide Hotel
Empire! Empire! Monument Annabel Loud $7 pissed to be missing this show tomorrow... damn the fact that I'm always at home when there's cool shows at school like a few blocks away |

who the fuck cares |
so since the R&M emo thread is failing to deliver imma ask here
any Braid fans? I think they need more rep around here, Frame & Canvas is a fucking incredible album |
p sure everyone likes braid
|
i think i like age of octeen better but yeah they're cool... not as cool as mineral though c'mon
|
Julia > all these other midwestern bands
except maybe Rockets and Blue Lights |
comparing Braid to Mineral LOL. Braid are nothing compared to Mineral. Braid are like uhhhh The Jealous Sound, The Promise Ring and other bands that simply get insignificant and pointless next to Mineral... much like every band ever.
Mineral are so good. and besides, pretty much every American "indiemo" band just sounds like a lesser Rusty James with inherent Cap'n Jazz-worship. now I want to put on Rusty James. |
yeah Mineral are sorta in a league of their own...
I love me some Knapsack though them and Jets to Brazil are my go-to when it comes to that type |
those are pretty good bands, yo. Rusty James are better though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOaB1NyEoCM
|
rockets and blue lights are awful
|
pshhhh
|
rockets and blue lights are awful
no he's right, they don't play rockets and blue lights at college parties
|
I'm going to fucking beat the shit out of you if i ever meet you irl |
christie front drive, luck of aleia are the best midwestern bands to do it
|
luc214 uh ok go listen to straight edge hardcore, you'll find it fits your personality much more
threatening to beat people on the w3 LOL / ignore kbike never thought you were the brightest guy anyhow, so I won't miss your posts at all @onthebrink I haven't seen you post anything before, but that's a great first post, haha. people don't really talk about '90s emo here. and those bands are indeed really great. |
we used to, many moons ago.
|
yeah but everyone moved on and are now listening to dubstep or death metal LOL
|
i never got into the midwest stuff. i dig appleseed cast and american football a little bit but thats really it
|
actually i think most of us just moved on to hardcore for the most part, or phish if you're matt ;)
in the end though, i was more about the late 90s screamoz |
listen to The Spirit of Versailles
|
i mean they're midwest and shit, but they're more of a band to be qualified under the screamo banner.
also, a blast from the past happened when i saw that my friend scotty was selling his copy of the The Sea, The Sea 1-sided LP. i almost wish i wasn't selling all of my records lol. |
LOL
a lot of previous "screamo kids" who got into screamo in 2005 and only listened to bands in 2000 are selling records they bought second hand for $3 on eBay for $50 SKRAM LIFE |
