Needing recs for some good post-rock albums. I like dreamy, emotional stuff with ambient and shoegaze elements akin to Hammock's "Chasing After Shadows...Living With The Ghosts" or port-royal's "Flares". Anyone know of any others like these? Thanks.

new band 'wings of pegasus'

Just discovered these guys on youtube, just released their first single. They're an underground band from London, probably hard rock/metal? Hard to define!?

The Best Guitar Riff Ever made

I would recommend that everyone check out this song, if only for the amazing guitar riff that the guitarist plays. The intro and outro are pretty sweet as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtOfytgMRqY

The song is called 'The Jester' and the band is called 'Ghost Playground'.

Temple - On The Steps Of The Temple (Instrumental Death, Black and Doom Metal band from Arizona)

"Temple's brooding debut instrumental release "On The Steps Of The Temple" is 53 minutes of towering riffs, crushing drums and compositions that explore many different territories while keeping it's roots deep in heaviness."

Active Child (Ancient Eye, Shield & Sword, Wilderness)
Katatonia (Stuff off of Night is the New Day)
Anathema (Stuff off of Natural Disaster)
Bon Iver, kind of, especially For emma, forever ago

Sans definite song structure, check out How To Dress Well

Hopefully that helps
Kind of an open-ended request, but can anyone recommend me really dark sounding music, does not have to be metal-based. Looking for stuff with identifiable song structures, meaning traditional frameworks. Maybe something with folk, pop or electronic touches.
I've been really enjoying Foxygen, The Black Angels, and Tame Impala lately, and I'd like to hear some more bands that bring psychedelic rock into this generation. Any suggestions?

I like them, specially the first 3 songs off their album.

Eh probably my only suggestion.

If you like Meshuggah (tech death list I think) then try Decapitated.

To be honest those are the two bands I like in that genre, so could be a pretty bad rec lol.

Useful/helpful list tho - thanks for it!

Emphasis - post-rock / post-metal/ instrumental band from Croatia

album stream: http://music.geengerrecords.com/album/gliding-over-all

"Eight tracks of beautiful melodic themes, heavy riffing and creative sampling work will lead you through emotional uprisings and downfalls, climaxing with a rather unusual song "Mura", a hommage to band's native region, which features strong vocal parts by female members of the local folklore society"

Surely there are concerts and clubs and party but i swear you are going to need a music online service soon to enjoy your music ain't it ?

I am new to the forum

Hie

i just want to say i will and want to recomend Dødsverk, an Avant-garde metal act who can be recomended to fans of both Shining (NOR), Faith No More, Jaga Jazzist, the Mars Volta, Seigmen (NOR), Elephant 9, fans of post metal and experimental metal might enjoy it, it is closer to the avant metal of Mr Bungle then the avant metal of Arcturus.

the element of punk/alternative is more prominent then any element of airy black metal, the atmospheres derives more from jazz, contemporary music, and avant garde, Crimsonesque sometimes without sounding like the kings of prog.

Crumb's "Seconds>Minutes>Hours" album. One of my all time favorites. Dark, catchy alt-rock with amazing mixes (produced by Beau Hill)
