it's wicked cool. I can play, i think almost every coheed track. Not form start to finish, but a good amount do be able to claim i can play the song.
The only songs i can play start to finish without needing to check a tab or something are.. Devil In Jersey City In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth Crowing Blood Red Summer Favor House Atlantic Light and the Glass (ftw) Welcome Home |
I haven't listened to Coheed a lot in a good while. I'm a bit rusty atm. I can play most of the songs above though.
|
those are just the ones i can play without needing a tab or anything, i have it all memorized. Their songs arent too hard.
|
Yeah, I don't listen to the other songs constantly enough or haven't looked them up to have them memorized. I love playing Delirium Trigger though. I love that little riff on the D strings.
|
yeah its wicked, when claudio sings during it on the live version it sounds so incredible.
|
Haha yeah, I used to watch that DVD so much.
|
yeah me too, i listen to the CD more instead, i havent watched the DVD as many times.
|
I lost the CD...:(
|
i think i know where it is.
|
I need to record and post some Coheed covers... that might make for good times.
|
yeah, i should have got someone to tape when my band played the light and the glass at a local show, it was pretty sweet.
|
i think i know where it is.
 Really? Where? I need it...:( |
I haven't posted on here in what seems like forever. :(
Yeah, Fish. All those songs you said you can play start to finish are all amazing songs, since they are by Coheed, but even more so. :thumb: Strange only have bothered to learn entirely what seems to be most of their singles they've ever had. :smash: |
haha i just made a band to play just Coheed covers. Gonna get seriously started at the end of the year as I have my biggest exam of my life in 3 months.
|
Sweet.
I really want to do a Coheed cover for the PP band. Seriously. I want to do IKSSE:3 bad. |
Trying out AFHA first. I would love a female vocalist but seing as how many ppl actually know what Coheed is in my country I dont think my chances are that good. Haha my singer now reminds me of claudio tho, he's pretty big.
IKSSE:3 is such a fun song to play haha. |
Yeah AFHA rocks. I can get that high too. Kinda get throaty after a bit though.

Coheed is pretty simple-ish on drums. In Keeping Secrets is fairly easy, as is most of that album. I havent tried sstb or ga though...
|
the drumming isnt very hard at all, my drummer picked it up first time through on most songs, including IKSOSE
|
But you can't deny that Josh Eppard (that's the drummer right?) is a great drummer.
|
I'll admit the drumming is fairly simple, but Josh interlocks with the rest of the band perfectly.

... what is this blasphemy I am hearing about the drumming being simple?
Neverender? The Crowing? Both of the Good Apollo Tracks? Are you guys kidding me? |
including the solo at the end?
well when we played it live we made the solo like 5 minutes, it was insane. The drumming isn't easy, or hard, it just fits with the song and makes it that much better and thats all that really matters. |
Neverender? Yes. That's not all that hard, it's kind of off-beat though
The Crowing? This on the other hand, is hard. Ghost noting it up on the hats, with open and closed patterns, subtle but hard to get right bass drums and stealthy changes all make it fairly difficult. And Im unsure what your referring to when you say the Good Apollo tracks. Theres only Apolo I on the GA album... Edit: Wait, my mistake, its hiding with Willing Well III.... |
Meh, I really like these guys.
The singer has a unique voice, but it's got me hooked. |
how did Coheed and Cambria end up in Pop-punk?, they're like metal or somethng aren't they?
|
Hardly. They dont really have a genre.
|
lol genre
|
Fill me in on the joke.
|
IMO they're far from metal. But then again I've only heard one album...
|
They tend to fit in with the new wave of "Prog-punk". Bands like CoCa, Circa Survive, TREOS, Dredg, Gatsbys. Etc.
|
coheed and cambria are not pop punk. The majority of the singles that have been released are more on the pop-punk side, but overall, these guys dont belong here at all.
Like when you listen to tracks like The Final Cut, you really hear the blues influence, and then tracks like the crowing, you hear the metal side. They really cover a few genres, pop punk definately not being the best place to put them, but who really cares, the fans will come here to talk and discuss, and thats all that matters. |
And a good bit of Pop-Punk like CoCa.

Cause I know that one is simply, it just comes in at an odd timing until you really get into the groove of the song. Neverender, I believe, has a fairly difficult intro, at least. And I was definately right about the GA songs, wasn't I? |
guitar > drums
so.. yeah :) |
Pffffft. I play guitar, I have been for over 4 years now, I'm quite fairly good though not AMAZING, but I have to say that drums are a lot more fun to play than guitar. That's just my personal opinion though.
However, while I defend Josh Eppard's skill to the death, I have to say they have better guitars and bass than they do drums. But, while Josh may not be insanely fast or anything, he is most definately one of the most creative drummers of our time. |
meh, im a songwriter so I prefer guitar.
Claudio is the ultimate songwriter of our time :p |
I'm a songwriter (at least I like to think I am :p) and I start writing stuff on keyboard and bass first then switch to guitar and mess with the drum machine.
And yes, Claudio is the premier songwriter of our time most definitely. |
