Really? Let It Be is probably one of my favorite albums ever.

I really don't see why people dislike it so much.
Me neither. There are a couple weak points, but it has like 5 songs that can all be considered some of their best ever.

Unrelated to Let it Be, but Free As A Bird is an amazing song.

Woodstock 06-24-2005 10:51 AM
Top Beatles albums, because I'm bored.

Revolver (5/5)
Abbey Road (4.5/5)
Rubber Soul (4/5)
Help! (3.5/5)
Magical Mystery Tour (3/5)
White Album (3/5)
Let it Be (2/5)
Sgt. Peppers (1.5/5)
I would put the White Album higher, but other than that, we're very similar.

I posted the link from midnight ukulele disco a little while back. www.ukuleledisco.com/jake is that link, I believe. Good to have it up again, though. That video is amazing.

For more of his awesomeness, go to www.ukuleledisco.com/jakeconcert

Sorry I haven't posted for a long time everybody, I'm at a summer camp and rarely get email access for anything other than research.

music_maker11 06-24-2005 01:38 PM

Beatles rule.
I loved tha tmovie...I caught it on AMC once I think. Great movie, but its so rare to find.

My favorite part was when that chic bailed out of the car and threw her coin purse at the payphone!
I really liked the off-key romance between the fat one and the dork that was living in the hotel and peeling up the carpet where the Beatles walked

I also liked the bass make-out scene

You have to be kidding me, I'm listening to Sgt. Peppers now, I'd rate it at much higher than a 1.5. But thats just me I guess.

magicbus 06-24-2005 02:26 PM

Revolver (3.5/5)
Abbey Road (5/5)
Magical Mystery Tour (4/5)
White Album (4/5)
Sgt. Peppers (5/5)

There's mine. (Once again, I only rated the albums that I own.)

robo2448 06-24-2005 02:44 PM

With The Beatles- 3/5
Help- 4.4/5
Rubber Soul- 5/5
Revolver- 5/5
Sgt. Peppers's- 5/5
MMT- 4.2/5
White Album- 5/5
Abbey Road- 5/5
Let it Be- 4.4/5

It was a challenge not to give them all 5/5's.

Walrus Gumboot 06-24-2005 03:08 PM

I could never rate them or subject them to unflattering judgement. They are all perfect little parcels from heaven that cannot be ranked in my mind

Except "Beatles For Sale", which kinda sucks.

BludgeonySteve 06-26-2005 03:18 PM

If I were to rate them, my ratings would probably get better and better moving chronologicly. It seems that they just got better and better :)

Badmoon 06-26-2005 03:24 PM
Revolver (3.5/5)
DISS!!!

Revolver is nothing short of genius. ;)

BludgeonySteve 06-26-2005 03:25 PM
DISS!!!

I haven't listened to it enough to rate it higher, but I'm sure it'll change to a 5 once I hear it all.

PinkFloydFan082692 06-26-2005 05:34 PM

I think everything after Rubber Soul deserves a 5/5, all the older stuff is love song stuff which is kinda stupid.

Woodstock 06-26-2005 05:44 PM

I felt the same way, but I listened to it again and it is pure genius.

HELP! Is pretty inspiried, it is less poppy than its predecessors. In fact, I thought Rubber Soul was a denfinate point at which they started to show their colors, but when I listened to HELP! it seemed that the change was a bit more gradual
George was definitely rad, and very underlooked. His solo career is really incredible, and songs like Here Comes the Sun and Something are just incredible.
Here Comes the Sun and Something werent part of his solo career
Musically, they suck

But, Respect I suppose :smoke:
I think songwriting far outweighs technicality.

If it was technicality you were mentioning....

Walrus Gumboot 06-26-2005 06:09 PM

Babyz4801- That post was made months and months and months ago

WhenWillTheForestSpeak- You can say they suck only if you say why (rule++)

babyz4801 06-26-2005 06:10 PM

1) Yes
2) You will find the "edit" button very useful instead of double posting, as well as a little capitalization where necessary

Alright

Walrus Gumboot 06-29-2005 10:28 PM

*bump*

I dragged this thing off of the flor of the 7th page!

So I got Ram. It is rediculously good ear-candy

magicbus 06-29-2005 10:31 PM

 We have a Beatles thread!?!?

Just listened to Sgt. Pepper's. Might be my favorite. Not sure.

Seafroggys 06-29-2005 11:14 PM

I have a cassette from McCartney's 1990 world tour, and it has a really cool medley of Sgt. Pepper's and the reprise. In between it has this really cool 2-3 minute section of just guitar soloing. I urge everyone to check this out.

ok lateralus 06-30-2005 05:56 PM

Abbey Road is the most perfect album ever.

LedHead712 06-30-2005 06:14 PM
Abbey Road is the most perfect album ever.
Agreed

slowhand 06-30-2005 06:55 PM

Abbey Road is the Beatles best, fuck Sgt. Pepper. (Don't think I hate Sgt. Pepper, that's not the point)

Jacaranda 06-30-2005 06:58 PM

Rubber Soul > Abbey Road

I've never been a big fan of Abbey Road

MalcolmYoungRock 06-30-2005 07:00 PM

I listened to Sgt. Peppers 5 times in a row on a really long road trip.

Just about killed the whole album to me.

slowhand 06-30-2005 07:04 PM

Abbey Road is really the album that made me into a Beatles fan. I mean Something, Here Comes the Sun and Come Together are classics. Maybe the Beatles best ever.

Something has a hook on me that's really frightning. I love it. The first solo I learned, too.

Hey! I have just recently mastered the bassline, maybe we could do a cover band thingy. I don't know what sort of equipment would be neccesray through

If I knew how to record on the computer I would. I really like putting distortion on the guitar for this song, it sounds interesting. I also sometimes give the guitar Clapton's famous 'woman tone' and it sounds amazing.

Cool. I haven't heard it so I can't really say much. I did hear him due the same thing on the Back in the US cd though. It was pretty cool, but I felt he kind of rushed through it a little.

slowhand 07-05-2005 01:14 PM

What is everyone's thought on the song For No One.

I find it to be McCartney's best love song, ever. It's so short, and it's so perfect. I love it. It's my current theme song. =D

... BUMP!

magicbus 07-05-2005 01:17 PM

What album is it on? I don't really recognize the title...

I do, however, withdraw my former statement about Revolver. After listening to it on the way to and back from my vacation, I realize now that every song on that album is amazing. I especially like "She Said She Said", "And Your Bird Can Sing", "I'm Only Sleeping", and the rest.

From Revolver. It's the 10th track. Listen to it. It's beautiful.
