Anyone know where to find decent floyd shirts?
Surprisingly, I found a sweet Floyd shirt at Hot Topic. It's a 3/4 sleeve Baseball T shirt with black sleeves, white body with cover of Wish You Were Here on the front. It is the most badass shirt I own. :p
Yea but if you have only seen the Wall movie, unless you have looked in the special features, that means you have never heard Hey You. Whitch is a crime against humanity.
Oh yeah, I've heard Hey You. Awesome song.

I want the wall, but I can't cough up the $30+ dollars now, and I need some new Pink... the only reason I got the movie was because it was on sale.

I'm considering Ummaguma, which I found it at Spec's at $25. And I want Meddle too, but I've never seen it on any of the stores I go to.

This is a hard decision.

Ummagumma rules, but Meddle is awesome too. I'd go with one of those.

slowhand 03-18-2005 09:25 PM

But, which one??

magicbus 03-18-2005 09:33 PM
But, which one??
Meddle first. Its single disc also, so it will be cheaper. You need to hear Echoes, and the other songs are great as well. I'm actually listening to it now.

slowhand 03-18-2005 09:34 PM

I have Live at Pompeii, so I've heard Echoes, it's a great song.

magicbus 03-18-2005 09:38 PM

Ok good. Pompeii is very cool. But you don't get to hear the awesome tone Gilmour plays with on Pompeii cause he uses a slide at the beginning. And One Of These Days has one of the coolest intros ever.
If by moron you mean brillent artist who shits out Mona Lisa's then yes thats true.
Lol shits out Mona Lisa's.

Live at Pompeii is awesome, IMO the versions of Saucerful of Secrets and Careful With That Axe Eugene that are on it, are way better than the studio recorded versions.

Yeah get meddle, Echoes is my favorite Floyd song. Atom Mother Heart is pretty good too.(im actually listening to that right now ;) )

Gah, I forgot about those tunes. I love the Careful With That Axe, Eugene on Ummagumma. The scream sounds so much more scary. And the vocals at the end of Saucerful are my favorite part. I love the way they're done on Ummagumma.

Ok slowhand, get Meddle first, but promise me you will buy Ummagumma eventually. :p

DeusExMachina 03-18-2005 10:27 PM

Get The Division Bell as well. It's great.

DeusExMachina 03-18-2005 10:32 PM

Really? I think it sounds more like classic DSOTM era them than The Final Cut, or arguably even The Wall.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-18-2005 10:39 PM

I agree with you, Deus. This may seem wierd, but I actually prefer the Division Bell to The Wall. ( onoes! ) The Wall really isn't the style of Pink Floyd that I really appreciate. It's not as proggressive as their usual stuff. I like the Division Bell because the insturmental sections are just as good as their were on DSotM and Animals.

Echoes is my favorite too, nice :thumb:. Yea my favorite part of Live at Pompeii is when Dave just sits down when hes playing Saucerful (at least I think it was Saucerful) and plays with the effects on his amp, I just thought that was so cool. Well that part and when Roger is being interviewed while stoned.

Eh the Division Bell didn't do much for me. I agree that the Wall isn't like usual Floyd (except some songs), but its lyrics have such a hold on me. I love Pink Floyds instrumentals, but their lyrics do so much for me. I just don't listen to The Division Bell as much as most of their cds. Though the instrumentals were good.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-18-2005 10:44 PM

I SERIOUSLY need to pick up Live at Pompeii. I've never seen a single intelligent Pink Floyd fan bash it, which is amazing.

edited for Otherside.

Otherside 03-18-2005 10:46 PM

My friend didn't like it, but it's understandable that he wouldn't, seeing as he's more a punk anyways.

Anybody who watches that movie and doesn't like it has no soul. Get it you will have a new respect for the band.

pigonthewing82 03-18-2005 10:55 PM
I love it. It's so good. I almost orgasmed.
I wish I could say I only almost orgasmed :upset:

moaner 03-19-2005 05:20 AM

is live at pomei the one with n crowd?

I saw "echoes2 off that i think, it was amazing

corporalclegg 03-19-2005 05:29 AM

How come The Division Bell get ripped on so much? I have only met a handful of people who like it.

Riva 03-19-2005 06:13 AM

Yeah, Live At Pompeii is just Floyd, without a crowd.

Division Bell is a good album, but (in my opinion) is the weakest of all of Floyd's albums.

moaner 03-19-2005 06:38 AM

I think i'm gonna buy LaP then.

My mate said they don't actually play "one of thse days", and its just about them recording it...

is that true?

Riva 03-19-2005 07:01 AM

Say it again? I didn't quite catch the meaning...

moaner 03-19-2005 07:04 AM
Say it again? I didn't quite catch the meaning...
does the DVD show thm playing "one of these days" or not?

Riva 03-19-2005 07:09 AM

Oh... Well, the Director's Cut is the one to get, as it has the Making of DSOTM, plus other arty additions to the concert. And yes, it has them playing One Of These Days.

DeusExMachina 03-19-2005 11:30 AM

If you get the directors cut DVD of Live at Pompeii, it also comes with the original version as well.

slowhand 03-19-2005 12:28 PM

Okay, I'm gonna search for Meddle first, then I'll buy Ummaguma (by the way, what does 'ummagumma' means?)

And yes, Live at Pompeii really takes you to a whole new level of Pink-Floydness and to really appreciate them as a band, and not just as recording artists.

Broken Arrow 03-19-2005 12:41 PM

In my opinion MLOR is weaker but who cares?

No, it shows them playing it.

And Ummagumma is slang for sex, just like "rock and roll".

slowhand 03-19-2005 01:08 PM

Oh really? I guess you learn something new everyday.

Purple Floyd 03-19-2005 01:14 PM

I'm half way done downloading a 24 album complete set off of DC++.

There's only five hours left... Hopefully it has every Floyd song on it.

slowhand 03-19-2005 01:27 PM

Questions:

1. Is there any website with detail biographies on the members of Pink Floyd? The only bios that I've read are very brief and don't have little known facts or interesting bits to read.

2. Is the artist of the month thread which features Pink Floyd still in existence or is it deleted?

www.pinkfloydfan.net has some good info.

DARKanima 03-19-2005 01:52 PM

read; A Saucerfull of Secrets: The Complete Pink Floyd Odyessy, it'll give you an idea of "who" pink floyd is.

Endless Obsession 03-19-2005 06:21 PM

Before the verse in time, are those bongos?

Broken Arrow 03-19-2005 06:23 PM
