True.

Check out Bill's new band xOne Wayx. The song "Generic Hardcore Song" is amazing.

That was so funny.

"Prepare for the upcoming breakdown."

Strip Mall Houdini is one of The Procedure's best songs. I haven't got all the names down yet since I only listened to the CD once. The only thing I remember is that really fast bass fill in one of the songs. Does Bill do the clean vocals for The Procedure?

Like the song 'Lifted' Jesse (lead singer) sings.

Stripmall Houdini
Lifted
One with the Earth

are my favorite songs.

cbmartinez 10-21-2004 07:45 PM

I thought Jesse's clean vocals are a little more gruff and Bill has a really nice sound. But maybe it was the other way around.

Let's Chop Cats! 10-21-2004 07:47 PM

I donno, I maybe wrong, can't remember 100%. I'm way to lazy to go check the DVD of them I have.

Oh yeah, the song with the bass fill is called "Two Words".

cbmartinez 10-21-2004 08:10 PM

Yeah the fill is insane. The basswork is very impressive from what I remember.

Well, I couldn't think of em all at once, so I ask for the people's opinion.

Not saying you aren't awesome at life...
Time for more of this thread's point.......EDUCATION!!!
I searched to see if psychobilly was done yet, and found people asking about bands such as Tiger Army, so I will go ahead and do it.

Psychobilly
Origins of psycobilly are as unknown as punk itself. It seems no one knows for sure, though common belief is that it began somewhere in Europe. But no one knows for sure, so don't quote me on that. So what is psycobilly to be exact? It is a mix of punk and good ol' 50's rockabilly. A lot of bands in the genre play mostly a faster version of rockabilly. More of the speed of fast punk. Makes sense right? Psychobilly isn't very well-known, however it does attract a large variety of fans. You have the punks, hardcores, greasers, and the class created by the music: psychos. As well as others, but the afore-mentioned make up the majority of the psychobilly fanbase. You could consider this a near direct throwback to the 50's, until you listen to some prime examples of psychobilly lyrics. Most speak of horror, death, demons, etc. They are pretty much the Misfits of Rockabilly. **On a side note, Misfits did release a psychobilly song entitled "American Nightmare."** Also, most psychobilly bands have a stand-up bass instead of a normal bass. This adds a unique effect and style to the music. There are only a few exceptions that do not have a stand-up bass. As there are only a few exceptions to the point I made about psychobilly's dark lyrics.

Good Psychobilly Bands:

Reverend Horton Heat
The Nekromantix
Tiger Army (most songs are exception to the lyrics statement)
Horrorpops
The Cramps (exception to the stand-up bass statement; in fact they have no bass player at all)
The Meteors
Batmobile
Mad Sin

*Any others you can think of, please post*
So uh, you did read the part before "education", right? The part that says "hardcore/metalcore"?

El_Shiznit 10-21-2004 11:53 PM
So uh, you did read the part before "education", right? The part that says "hardcore/metalcore"?
However, other people made posts about crust, emo, grindcore, emocore, etc. So why not just make this a big education one instead of making multiple threads on different forms of music?

40 oz 2 freedom 10-21-2004 11:57 PM

Because, the genres you listed are closely related to hardcore/metalcore.

BuddyBigsby 10-21-2004 11:59 PM

Only one guy mentioned Tiger Army, psychobilly has really nothing to do with hardcore at all, but the ones you listed do. I think you'd be better off starting a seperate, similar thread. It was a good description and all, I'm just saying that it doesn't really belong here.

El_Shiznit 10-21-2004 11:59 PM

Ok, done deal, it is now a separate thread.

axeslinga_32 10-22-2004 09:57 AM

/me is listening to hot cross - pretty picture of broken face.

i don't understand how they are screamo, they sound similar to alexisonfire. except with more old-school hxc punk vocals.

tornpictures 10-22-2004 11:19 AM

I totally see them more as a hardcore band too.

I actually also don't understand how Hot Cross are screamo... They don't sound very chaotic at all to me and on the new EP there is barely any screaming...

cbmartinez 10-22-2004 02:39 PM

They can go either way, emo or screamo. Cryonics or whatever is very chaotic and I love it.

Kids Like Us got signed to Eulogy and will be touring with The Warriors.

i was in fucking shock when i read about that...cause c'mon, why would alabel known for its Black Metal bands start getting hardcore bands to sign with them....it's just not right....

BuddyBigsby 10-23-2004 01:53 AM

Hot Cross have a lot of different stuff going on. I think of them as a screamo band at heart, but they definitely have their own thing going on. The Alexisonfire comparison was silly.

tornpictures 10-23-2004 02:28 AM

Everyone throws the term 'screamo' around way too much.
They have the adrenaline pumpin', of course, but they don't have any real true emotion going on on-stage.
Whoever denies that should go see a real emo band play.

Saturday - The Warriors & With Or Without You in Anaheim. HALLOWEEN SHOW!

young, loud and andrew 10-23-2004 10:46 PM
