The New York Ska Jazz Ensemble and BOTAR. I feel like getting into ska these days.

What's the best Rocket From the Crypt album by the way?

DonMancini 02-07-2005 08:32 PM
stars the girl band????
Well they have a girl and guy vocalist, but it's an indie-ish band from Montreal.

Prolapsed 02-07-2005 09:20 PM

sweet avatar ^^ good movie

Reaganista 02-07-2005 11:08 PM
Sage frickin' Francis.
nice.

I've been digging on Tilly and the Wall lately.

It's Indie Pop with a tap-dancer instead of a drummer, in case somebody hasn't heard of them. Fun music.
Stars - Set Yourself on Fire.

Amazing album.
i've been meaning to check this out. i shall do so now.

br3ad_man 02-08-2005 04:10 AM
I've been digging a lot of X Japan and M83, so thanks to bread and Iai. :)
yay! :thumb:

I'm loving The Arcade Fire today and every other day. It's such a nice album.

Macdaddy 02-08-2005 05:55 AM

Dashboard confessionals baby-----just broke up and it eases the pain :)

Luxor 02-08-2005 10:52 AM

Theres no "s" in on the end of Dashboard Confessional.

fendermike84 02-08-2005 12:13 PM
I bought Worlds Apart yesterday, pretty dissapointing.
Personally, I thought it was the best record of 2005 thus far. Until the new Mars Volta officially comes out, that is.
Personally, I thought it was the best record of 2005 thus far. Until the new Mars Volta officially comes out, that is.
nothing else worthwhile (and worldwide) has come out yet, at all. so you may technically be right.

Tangy zizzle 02-08-2005 05:44 PM

Yeah ok, I like Worlds Apart a lot more now, but still dissapointing.

Iai 02-08-2005 06:08 PM

Glad to see X Japan appearing in this thread. :)

Today I dug M83 for a bit, then listened to a load of stuff I'm gonna put on a CD for the object of my affections. Then, I listened to The Man Machine by Kraftwerk 3 times through, and I now officially declare it one of the best albums ever made.

Iai 02-08-2005 06:10 PM

I've also been having random bursts of digging Shpongle's Tales Of The Inexpressible, which is probably the best thing Zappa's ever recommended to me. And that's saying something.

Happymeal 02-08-2005 06:26 PM

^ an awesome record indeedy.

I'm liking Black Mountain right now

el doctor 02-08-2005 08:14 PM

I really haven't found M83 to be as good as people say. After Before the Dawn Heals Us was released, it just reinforced my disappointment. For my ambient-progressive-electronic-indie-pop-whatever-you-wanna-label-it needs, Air is good enough for me. :)

Zappa 02-08-2005 08:33 PM

Every time I put on Dust by Screaming Trees, I realize how incredibly great it is, and I wonder why I don't play it more often.

biografiend 02-08-2005 09:50 PM

I downloaded the new Electric Six album the other day. It wasnt as good as Fire, but it still shakes these hipz.

Tangy zizzle 02-08-2005 09:50 PM

And I think to myself... why does Zappa not listen to the Afghan Whigs/

Badmoon 02-08-2005 10:01 PM
The Grateful Dead - "American Beauty"
Awesome :thumb:

/expected

Macdaddy 02-08-2005 10:36 PM

i really like m83... but air is definitely better. talkie walkie is becoming one of my all time favorites. i just watched lost in translation for the first time too, so "alone in kyoto" is just that much better.

Bandaid 02-09-2005 09:54 AM

Deja Voodoo

pinkyeti 02-09-2005 10:23 AM
^ an awesome record indeedy.

Black Mountain are great.

I'm also diggin' Spoon and Brian Eno.

Bartender 02-09-2005 11:10 AM

I've been having a Bjork day today. Mostly Medulla and Homogenic.

DonMancini 02-09-2005 11:12 AM

I've been listening to radiohead all day.

What a nice day.

Oh and I listened to De-loused earlier too.

Luxor 02-09-2005 11:31 AM

I haven't listened to De-Loused in a long time... I think I'll listen to it now.

YDload 02-09-2005 01:34 PM

I'm listening to the song "Frances the Mute." It's a single that's only available on vinyl, but luckily some helpful internet people have brought it to the realm of mp3.

It's pretty cool, although it's bookended by a few minutes of random noise.

Master Arkam Kannon 02-09-2005 02:46 PM
Black Mountain are great.

rock and roll, you're on target.

Tangy zizzle 02-09-2005 03:38 PM
Deja Voodoo
You win.

/close thread.

Electrocution 02-09-2005 03:44 PM

I've been listening to M83, X Japan, and Chromatics lately.

Tangy zizzle 02-09-2005 03:51 PM

Morphine - Yes
Lightning Bolt - Lightning Bolt
Pitchfork - Eucalyptus/Saturn Outhouse
Murder City Devils - Whole discography, except for R.I.P
Korekyojin - Arabesque
(obligatory) QOTSA - Songs for the Deaf

Zappa 02-09-2005 03:53 PM

Today was the first time in a long time where I put on Odessey and the Oracle by The Zombies, and found myself not in the mood for it.

I've been digging The Commercial Album by the Residents the most today.

YDload 02-09-2005 04:39 PM

Skinny was born in a bathtub
And he grew so incredibly thin
Even the end of an eyedropper
Sucked him in.
And I think to myself... why does Zappa not listen to the Afghan Whigs/
I often find myself thinking the exact same thing.

Seriously, I reckon you'd really dig Black Love and Congregation. Probably not Gentlemen though.

Robert Crumb 02-09-2005 05:05 PM

Among other things, Sondre Lerche. I'm trying to figure out who his voice sounds exactly like.

3rdplanet 02-09-2005 05:14 PM

The Cure mp3s.

Tangy zizzle 02-09-2005 05:17 PM

So not their music, just their MP3's?

asymm 02-09-2005 05:56 PM

hrmm... today has been full of Readymade's new album All The Plans Resting

and a revisit to Madvillain's Madvillainy <- I forgot how excellent this album is.

3rdplanet 02-09-2005 05:57 PM

yup and no.

They only had their Best of in HMV the other day, and I didn't really want to buy it.

So I have just been listening to the mp3s I have of theirs, and no specific album, but the stuff off Disintergration seems to be far better than their other stuff.

to Tangy zizzle.

wheelz 02-09-2005 06:36 PM

madvillainy is beyond excellent.
