I have my eye on a Cort acoustic fretless if it passes a play test from me sometime.

http://www.cortguitars.com/english/products/acoustics/view.asp?product_id=201
I've been wanting an acoustic for a while... Cort acoustics are good.

But I need a new amp more, and a want a motorbike. The two basses I would sell are worth sweet FA, the Cort I would consider for the right price. No way I'd lose my musician or jazz.

funkyhoney 05-15-2009 12:21 PM

Ideally I want a Cort Artisan A4. I have a fretless and a nice jazz that suits me, I just want a nice bass to headline the collection. I'm ****ing off my amp and getting a better/bigger one ASAP, I have shows soon.

But acoustic + bike are so tempting.

FunkMetalBass 05-15-2009 12:26 PM

I'm still debating selling my '96 MIM Jazz. I mean, I could get $400 out of it, but she's got sentimental value.

I just hate the sound and feel of it.

gaslight 05-15-2009 12:28 PM

Got a pic of that Ibanez Musician?

fatbandit 05-15-2009 12:28 PM

Sentimental value counts for fuck all for me when it comes to gear.

I can't really translate? Is that Good or Bad?

It was my late uncle's bass, and he's pretty much the reason I ever got into music. I then proceeded to win a bass competition using his bass, and the best bass solo I ever improvised was in a Jazz band competition in front of a huge audience and some judges.

FunkMetalBass 05-15-2009 12:33 PM

I want one of those Agile Septor 7-string guitars. They look sweet. And for only $300...

I'm tempted to buy a nice electric guitar but I got this pretty sweet PRS for really cheap so I can't justify it for what I do with it.

PRS?

**drools**

By far my favorite guitar brand.

Got any pics?

fatbandit 05-15-2009 12:55 PM

I don't like that quilted maple/trans red combo. Nice looking axe though. I'd prefer a Caparison.

And as for sentimentality... I just think if something's not playable enough for me, why should I keep it? Dead money. But I know not everyone thinks like that.

They have it in a trans blue also. I think I'd get that one over the trans red.

Right. It's the potential regret and afterthought at a later date that I'm trying to avoid.

I don't need to sell it to survive, so it's not a big deal right now, but I'm trying to condense the amount of gear I have and get some more money in the bank for upgrades, effects, or just for gaining interest.

fatbandit 05-15-2009 01:03 PM

Work more hours.

I'll expand on that - since starting this job, i've put aside 75-100 pounds a week from my wages towards gear. Solely because I've been working overtime. My main gigging rig (what comes with me to gigs) is currently worth over £4k RRP in the state it is in, and within a few months, I'll have upped it to around £5.5k

More hours = more money = not letting go of old but emotionally important items ^_^

Not of my own but it's this model.

http://www.guitar.com.au/guitars/electric/prs/seeg.html

Was retailing here about $1000 at the time, I got it for $500 with $250 store credit thrown in.

FunkMetalBass 05-15-2009 01:05 PM

I work 50+ a week, so working more wouldn't bother me at all. It's mostly just condensing my gear and going for quality over quantity.

Nice nice. How's it play? I find access to the upper frets on PRS guitars is phenomenal.

gaslight 05-15-2009 01:15 PM

It's play really smoothly, has a lovely clean sound. I don't tend to use many effects if any on guitar. I don't actually own a guitar amp but I've played it through my bass stuff. I'd love to get a tiny but good Vox amp to play it through. Most of my days are spent playing it unplugged, I've come to love the sound of it by itself. One day I might have snazzier pick-ups but in or something, but I'd really happy with it anyway.

Upper fret accessibility is flawless.

And I think to myself, crap man, this is the CHEAP one they make.

Imagine playing one of their deluxe models. Wow.

I played a used Mark Tremonti SE at GC (I swear, people in AZ sell the coolest instruments to GC) and I was blown away by it. If it's ever in the cards, I want that guitar.

gaslight 05-15-2009 01:25 PM

The Al Di Meola sig looks sweet.

I have to buy this baby some new strings, the set on it are old and there's one missing. I don't know what are nice strings for clean jazzy sounds on electric guitar though.

Ask your local guitar shop guys. =)

I personally like the feel of those DR Dimebag Sigs. Light top, HEAVY bottow. I believe they are 9 - 50, but could be 9 - 54.

FunkMetalBass 05-15-2009 01:36 PM

BTW funky, if you'd like, I can put your Cort on Talkbass and just direct everybody through you. There are bound to be fellow Aussies on there.

FunkMetalBass 05-15-2009 03:27 PM

TB killed the MF casual

Spaceman Spiff 05-15-2009 03:34 PM

I just picked up Maximum Carnage. The whole 14 part Spider-Man series in one book.

Awesome.

FunkMetalBass 05-15-2009 03:39 PM

NICE

Who is Spider Man?

Peter Parker.

But don't tell anyone.

FunkMetalBass 05-15-2009 03:41 PM

Nevermind. This was going to be the part where I post a funny pic I made about Spider Man about a year ago.

But I can't find it.

So instead, I'll post this picture I did find.

You could put Spider-Man masks on every face in that collage.

What is up with comic book writers and alliteration in the character's name? It just seems too suspicious....

Peter Parker
Clark Kent
Matt Murdock
Wally West...

Or a villain.

I won't say which. But it'll be revealed soon enough.
