I don't have money for a nice bass and amp, but I do know what you mean about hating to spend money. I mean I have no problem dropping $15 on a cd or something, but when it comes to a big purchase I just feel so uncomfortable.

It's a good thing most of the time, but when I want something, it takes me, like, half a year to talk myself into it. My RC-50? I hummed and hawed and it took me almost five months to justify spending that kind of money on myself.

I've actually gotten like 3x as good at bass since my girl moved. We lived about 1/2 a mile from each other so we spentl like all day every day together for 10 months and now I actually have time to do stuff.

I'm taking Jazz Band as my elective and we've been working on jazz theory and improv/aural training, and it's so raw. I'm going to be so much better by the end of the year.
