I hope that Corey improves because his voice on 9.0 Live was really a let down. I use to be a big Slipknot fan, but now I'm starting to wonder if they're really any good.
Dont talk like that! He was just after touring the world give him a break.
Even though he sounded worn he is still an amazing songwriter.
I JUST hope his roaring wont effect his melodic singing on the stone sour album.

smart86 12-13-2005 09:25 PM

agreed. im looking forward to this album. however for me, his worn voice on 9.0 live wasnt such a let down for me as it was for others. a little different from what we are all used to, but still effective all the same.

ValeOfShadows 12-14-2005 02:31 AM

wow i love this band!!! Not really i used to like them till i started listening to heavier music now i dont even consider them a band. Mick and James cant write riffs worth listening to. Joeys drum beats dont suit the music (except for people = ****) and theres no point of shawn and craig being in the band if thats what you call it. Sorry all you slipknot fans i feel sorry for you.:thumb: :p :smash:

This thread isn't for knocking Slipknot GTFO

IF you feel that way, keep it to yourself, people in this thread honestly don't give a fuck about your opinion, as they, obviously feel different.

Mick and James write awesome riffs, you just don't appreciate it.
Joey's drum beats DO suit the music, you're just a fuck-tard and are to stupid to see otherwise.
Shawn and Craig add a different element to Slipknot just so they sound different to every other Nu-Metal band.

Piss off.

Sorry Leukeh had to get that off my chest. There actually pretty good live. What i mean about mick and jims riffs are they could write so much better because they're both good guitarists. Joeys a sick drummer too. Anyway sorry i just dont like nu-metal except for mudvayne anywayz ill leave now.

Well said, but did you call Slipknot Nu-Metal?

Leukeh 12-14-2005 03:24 AM
Well said, but did you call Slipknot Nu-Metal?
Yeah... Thats what it's genre is... IMO anyway... is that bad?

Whoa, I just had a look around. Alot of people consider them Nu-Metal. I guess it just sounds weird since I mostly hear it being used as a derogatory term. I still don't think they're Nu-Metal though.

Probably because alot of people don't like Nu-Metal! Down-tuned guitars & screaming vocals turn alot of people off. Not to mention the dark lyrics most of the time.

Meh, I love Slipknot. Screw anyone who thinks they are crap at writing cool riffs. Besides Jim Roots Telecaster = Teh Secks.

Btw, I find it funny how ValeofShadows almost completely reversed his opinion after you went off at him:lol:

Yeah, but you don't go into a bands official thread and start insulting the band.

I'm Charming 12-21-2005 03:09 AM

I hate most Nu metal but I've always had a soft spot for Slipknot.

I have all their albums except the new live one.

Many of the riffs are bland for comment on a post above. They fit the style of music though.
Most riffs are NOT complex but they sound good...
In the end, if it sounds good, who cares...

I hate how people complain about Vol. 3,
They say "ohh yeah, slipknot sold out doood"
Actually Vol.3 is the most comparable to "Mate Feed Kill Repeat". Before Cory...
People who don't even know anything about a band shouldn't make such judgements.

Sph 12-21-2005 03:11 AM

My opinion still stands. I don't think Slipknot are true Nu Metal.

Aaron_Of_Oz 12-21-2005 03:24 AM

i like slipknot very much. i listen to them a lot as a sort of way to let out anger. i just sit in my room and ****ing scream the words to myself. my favourite album is IOWA closely followed by Vol:3. i havnt heard 9.0 live yet i will have to get a hold of it. could someone explain exactly what is nu-metal cos the term gets thrown around a lot so i am unsure of what true nu-metal is

Sph 12-21-2005 03:52 AM

Nu Metal is very hard to explain, but here's a good place to look.

:smoke:

Aaron_Of_Oz 12-21-2005 04:04 AM

so a perfect example of nu-metal would be Limp Bizkit?

Sph 12-21-2005 04:55 AM

I don't think there could possibly be a perfect example of Nu Metal these days. It has different meanings to different people.

Brew 12-21-2005 06:12 AM

For someone whos seen Slipknot about 3 times, is the live album worth buying?

Aaron_Of_Oz 12-21-2005 06:24 AM
For someone whos seen Slipknot about 3 times, is the live album worth buying?
probably not if you have seen them 3 times. are they going to release another album or not?

Brew 12-21-2005 06:35 AM

I read somewhere that Joey and Paul are working on some new material, but I'm not sure when the next album is going to be released.

blackthorne 12-21-2005 07:10 AM

i think slipknot are great joeys a sick drummer but i have a problem the clown and the other drummer really arnt necessary IMO it would be better wihtout them but thts just me

Neamhtrocaireach 12-21-2005 07:26 AM

I dunno... They do add a lot to studio records and live they are just crazy.
When i see them in the RDS the two percussionists added a lot to the sound.

Sph 12-21-2005 07:29 AM

Yeah, they're more important than alot of people realise.

iluvkirkhammett 12-21-2005 08:12 AM

I think Slipknot are great, especially they're old stuff, and I'm really looking forward to the next Stone Sour album. But someone said they were up for icon soon...

That's ridiculous, there are more important bands that should be icons before them.

smart86 12-23-2005 03:22 AM
Yeah, they're more important than alot of people realise.
a good example is the intro for eyeless.

Sph 12-23-2005 03:53 AM

Yeah, Eyeless is one of my favourites.

Leukeh 12-23-2005 05:45 AM
probably not if you have seen them 3 times. are they going to release another album or not?
Not anytime soon. Slipknot is taking a little break from recording at the moment so Coreys voice can recuperate (if you've heard any of 9.0 Live, you'd understand what I'm talking about. His voice was extremely worn from almost a year of non-stop touring. Still a good album though)

James and Corey are gonna do another album with Stone Sour (can't wait!) and again, there maybe be some guest appearences in the album from Sid to add some DJing to it, like in their self titled album.

On the inside cover of 9.0 Live it has a letter from the guys. At the end it says "It's been 10 years. Here's looking forward to 10 more." so one would assume another album is in store for us...:D
