Low - Drums and Guns
Codeine - The White Birch

I only got that Low album because it was at my shitty local shop for cheap. It is pretty good. Definitely makes me want to listen to other albums by them

Thanks 01-10-2008 10:51 AM

The OHM compilation of early electronic music. I should have gotten this ages ago, because I've loved this sort of stuff forever. I'm totally going to buy the box set that comes with a DVD.

The new band No Kids
Vampire Weekend

Neoteric 01-10-2008 02:42 PM

when i first listened to that ****ed up album i was expecting it to be some epic hardcore stuff

but it turned out to be pretty boring

La Revolucion 01-10-2008 06:31 PM

Yeah I'm listening to it now because this one guy said it was the craziest thing he'd heard in years and it's really not. btw listen to Growing, you would like it

Robert Crumb 01-10-2008 06:42 PM

Stuff that I listened to today:

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Organisation
Saint Vitus - Born Too Late
Chantal Goya - Masculin Feminin EP
Various Artists - Eccentric Soul: Mighty Mike Lenaburg

Anxious 01-10-2008 08:10 PM

The Goslings-Grandeur of Hair

So fucking great. Imagine Flying Saucer Attack mixed with The Jesus and Mary Chain with very slow sad melodies being played under all of the noise. They basically stole my idea for a band.

A czech 70's band that is very king crimson influenced called Flamengo.

And will probably then be listening to Hermann Szobel, who made one album when he was like 16 and then dropped off the face of the earth. This one record is from the 70's and if you like Frank Zappa - Hot Rats and things of that nature, you need this.

if anyone cares.

okay 01-10-2008 11:00 PM

the obscurity levels of this forum are going off the charts due to that post

Anxious 01-10-2008 11:03 PM

I'll give it a shot. I know it'll have cheesey horns in it though like every prog band back then did.

asdf 01-10-2008 11:04 PM

Yeah, sorry.

Both are things I got from my brother (he actually bought that hermann szobel album and recorded it, since the ones he found online were so bad). He tries really hard to find music that only like 8 people have ever heard.
I'll give it a shot. I know it'll have cheesey horns in it though like every prog band back then did.
The horns aren't all that cheesy. There's one song that has kind of cheesy bass in it, but that is forgiven by the pure awesomeness that is the song "transcendental floss"

Anxious 01-10-2008 11:08 PM

That title sounds like any given Zappa song from the 70's.

YDload 01-10-2008 11:11 PM

nobody ever moved to Montana to become a transcendental floss tycoon

asdf 01-10-2008 11:36 PM

Now I am listening to "The Brood Needs Food" because my friends walked in from a movie, heard me listening to Hermann Szobel and decided to loan me an ipod.

I am definitely in a music listening mood after being in a slump for a few weeks.

Oh, cool, I didn't known they were re-releasing that. I used to listen to it loads before I lost it.

I dug up this live Otis Redding bootleg from 1967, so I'm digging that. The version of "Satisfaction" on here is ridiculously fast, I love it.
So Juno kind of sucked but it made me wanna listen to Sonic Youth again.
All of his albums are pretty much completely different from each other. I love both Sapphie and Autumn Response in different ways.

I've just dwonloaded The Naive Shaman and May, two more of his albums. Looking forward to hearing those.
