ITP I will discuss the similarities between the New Pornographers and Queens of the Stone Age.

* Singer for NP looks like Josh Homme if he put on weight and wasn't so badass.

* Both bands have female keyboardist

* Both bands have an overshadowed bassist (which was literally true for Pornographers, who was in the shade behind the singer for about the whole show.

* Both bands have drummers with outstanding physical qualities (qotsa = tattoos, ugly, NP = fro! and he sings!)

Belle and Sebastian were amazing.

Oh ffs, Has anyone tried getting UK Radohead tickets on the W.A.S.T.E pre-sale? The servers truely can;t handle it. I've been trying since 12pm to get tickets (it's 17:20 now) I might give up soon and try on the official release.

Girl Gangs

This is my first post on these boards. But I've sort of been lurking around, reading threads here and there for the longest time. I'm not sure if this thread is the best place for the following, but I didn't want to risk starting a new thread and incurring the wrath of the message board purists...anyways, all I wanted to say was that my band, Girl Gangs, have just finished our demo and you can hear it

www.audiri.com/girlgangs

or

www.myspace.com/girlgangsmusic

Now I know that most bands that advertise in such a fashion are pretty awful, but I assure you that we're not. You'll like us. I promise. Check us out, drop us a line and tell us what you think. Add us on myspace, make us feel loved.

Zappa 03-22-2006 01:06 PM

Actually, I don't like you. Your singer can't carry a tune, but he also doesn't have a tune that I find worth carrying. Your music to me sounds cliched and poorly crafted.

Interesting discussion on emo going on over in R&M.

Luxor 03-22-2006 08:34 PM

I see pixies has made his way over there

YDload 03-22-2006 09:55 PM

That's almost as bad as the thread called "What is EMO?" in the Drum forum's "Beginner's Questions" subsection. Why?!

Luxor 03-22-2006 10:46 PM

hahah
Zmev, did you ask for Neko Case's number?
Being sick sucks.
Being sick sucks.
Yeah it does... I've felt moderately crappy throughout all of my spring break. Quite lame.

Last night I watched F for Fake and it was excellent. A really interesting, thought provoking movie. Today I'm going to be rewatching My Own Private Idaho and/or Capote with some friends.

I'm seeing Stay Alive tomorrow, stupid horror films ftw.

Can anyone recommend me a few good post-punk albums to check out? I'm going to the record store later today.

ATM 03-23-2006 01:52 PM

Should I go see the Magic Numbers tonight?
