Listening to Define The Great Line, goddamn Spencer's vocals rule.

encmetalhead 10-16-2009 06:43 PM
They were better when Anthony Gunnells did vocals for them (go figure).
I'm actually not as big a fan of BTSFA's old stuff, but it might be because of the production

witchxrapist 10-16-2009 06:46 PM

The production definitely did make his highs sound like they would without a microphone, IDK wtf they did there.

encmetalhead 10-16-2009 06:51 PM

Yeah because I thought their old vocalist sucked but now that I know it was the good TTEOTD vocalist it had to be because of the production.

Xplisit 10-16-2009 06:59 PM

i listened thru half of an album earlier that made me want to kill myself i think the band was called fleshlight apocalypse or something

witchxrapist 10-16-2009 07:00 PM

fleshgod apocalypse rules, gtfo

Xplisit 10-16-2009 07:02 PM

first half of Oracles pretty much sucked imo but whatever

DBlitz 10-16-2009 07:36 PM

idk oracles is pretty solid

Xplisit 10-16-2009 07:39 PM

maybe im just not into fleshlights

The Feeding 10-16-2009 08:38 PM

was the scars of ages the album with autumn tint of gold and reconstruction of the female anatomy or was that the split? neways those 2 albums are way better than anything after

witchxrapist 10-16-2009 08:49 PM

Autumn Tint Of Gold is on Scars Of Ages, Reconstruction is on the Knife Trade split.

The Feeding 10-16-2009 08:54 PM

i get them mixed around, diddn't they have Dayton drumming on those 2 also? dude was sooo much better

witchxrapist 10-16-2009 08:56 PM

Dayton's on Bloodlust, but they list Josh for some odd reason.

Like, Justin SAID Dayton is done tracking drums and is out of the band to do other stuff, right before Bloodlust came out.

Xplisit 10-16-2009 09:26 PM

Forever Ends Today and To Take Comfort and pretty jawesome

also highly prefer the ep version of beneath dying skies as opposed to bloodlust

witchxrapist 10-16-2009 09:31 PM

I prefer the Bloodlust version because of all the ranges Anthony covers.

Huge thread is huge. I've pretty much got a generic entry-level metalcore/deathcore/crabcore list, I might as well share it.

All Shall Perish
All That Remains
Amarna Reign
As Blood Runs Black
As I Lay Dying
Attack Attack!
Bring Me The Horizon
Bullet For My Valentine
Converge
Despised Icon
Heaven Shall Burn
Job For A Cowboy
Killswitch Engage
Lamb Of God (arguably metalcore, closer to groove metal if you ask me)
Misery Signals
Parkway Drive
Shadows Fall
Suicide Silence
Whitechapel

Damn, I thought my -core collection was a bit bigger than this.

Tyler 10-16-2009 11:58 PM

Some good, some awful.

First...dude. Attack Attack?? Seriously? And you're right, Lamb of God are closer to 'groove metal', if only because there isn't anything remotely 'core' about their sound.

JonG 10-17-2009 02:30 AM

I see Converge, I go :)

I see Attack Attack, Parkway Drive, I go :(

Continue to listen to the bolded, also, Job For A Cowboy isn't metalcore in the slightest bro.

asSi1v3RfaNgsburn 10-17-2009 03:16 AM

list needs more Veil of Maya and After the Burial

witchxrapist 10-17-2009 03:17 AM

Veil Of Maya yes, After The Burial, no.

But more importantly, list needs more actual metalcore.

Start with the classics: Botch, Knut, 7 Angels 7 Plagues, Skycamefalling, Deadguy, Kiss It Goodbye, Drowningman, and Coalesce.

2muchket! 10-17-2009 04:08 AM

Idk I quite enjoy After the Burial

witchxrapist 10-17-2009 04:09 AM

Ya but you're a scene fruit. :p

2muchket! 10-17-2009 04:15 AM

fight you in the pit

Apoc 10-17-2009 09:17 AM

After the Burial's pretty good.

The Feeding 10-17-2009 10:44 AM

I enjoy both, stoked to see VoM live with BTBAM in november

witchxrapist 10-17-2009 03:07 PM

After The Burial is gaaaaayyyy.

jrowa001 10-17-2009 03:57 PM

cant stand After the Burial and Veil of Maya (a few songs are good)

HighandDriving 10-17-2009 04:35 PM

After the Burial are pretty lame but at least VoM have a couple of dec songs.

Si1v3RfaNg 10-17-2009 04:48 PM

Curl Up and Die pretty much rule hard.
