I took my Mount off, but the mount is protruding in mine (I have an older model) the finish was there, so don't worry about it.

Regarding the Pro M enquiry:

I know quite a lot about these kits now as I was considering getting one for several months, and this question came up for me as well. I came across some photos that show it's really not that bad at all. Take a look

It's just those two little holes you see on top. So, assuming none of the lacquer under the mount is damaged/gets damaged while removing the mount, I think you'll be quite content.

Thats not the same. Filter chinas are the FX9 alloy and are hammered differently
