forget london, i'm going to chicago this summer
Out of pure reflex, I bought a ticket.

Now I need hotel reservations/a plane ticket/someone to go with.
I rented Elephant last night. I'll probably watch it tomorrow.
I couldn't stand it. An hour and a half of pointless actions, and that abrupt ending.

Bleh.

Sure, it presented a message, but... Bleh.

Wanker 03-18-2006 01:10 PM
Leon is awesome:) I really like Jean Reno for some reason.
Oh c'mon, we all know Gary Oldman is the best in that movie.
Oh c'mon, we all know Gary Oldman is the best in that movie.
Yea, but Jean Reno is just awesome in general..

I wonder how blind people have sex.

Glitterati 03-18-2006 02:59 PM

I'd imagine there'd be a lot of sore belly buttons.
sounds fun. how do we do it?
That's like wondering how they do anything. Those of us with sight just don't really get it.

pointless actions?

neh. it was a daily life.

i thought it was really good.

I jusy got back from seeing V For Vendetta. Could be the best movie that I have ever seen in theaters. It was incredible.

Interstate 03-18-2006 05:14 PM

I'm downloading The National - Alligator right now, I hope it's worth it after all the hype I've been reading about.

ATM 03-18-2006 05:49 PM

Personally, I think it's just average. It just doesn't keep my attention.

Robert Crumb 03-18-2006 07:38 PM

V for Vendetta was totally solid. I think if fans of the comic dislike it, they're being pedantic wangshuckers. Because no one's opinion can differ from mine. It is also totally solid.

Really though, it was just a quality, entertaining movie.

It was just TONS of walking.

And not good, "Lost in Translation" or "Broken Flowers" Walking, just... walking. A few hellos. A picture. Bleh.

A judge has halted the sale of Notorious BIG's "Ready to Die" because one of the samples in the album was used without permission.

Finally, a comic fan's perspective. Now I really want to see it.

My only real beef was the ending. But it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I guess I could see why Alan Moore was up in arms about the screenplay but there's a lot of difference between a screenplay and execution, I'd imagine. Mostly, I think that unless you spend your time nitpicking through adaptations, it shouldn't be a bother. Like I said, solid entertainment.

Honestly, I barely remember the source material. It didn't make a huge impression, and I actually felt a bit confused (because I read it over a long span, having not much time to actually sit and read it).

br3ad_man 03-19-2006 12:18 AM
Not sure man, but they seem pretty decent to me, so I'd reckon that you should go. It would be fun. Where are they playing?
The Arena. I've actually never been there. I'm pretty definite that I'll go now. It'll probably the only chance I get for a while to see a band with my a lot of friends. I finally get to see your brother's band in the holidays with Go Stop Stop too. :)

Work was ok today, I drank a smoothie thing at lunch and got a headache though. That's the last time I buy a smoothie from New Zealand in a while.

V for Vendetta was a lot better than I expected it to be. Very entertaining, 7.5/10

Shoulda gone to Emo's.

Kyle 03-19-2006 11:09 AM

My review is featured on Sputnik, sweet :D

Dog 03-19-2006 11:49 AM

sxsw always sucks, and the only cool band that played at Emo's was Trail of Dead and to see them you'd have to sit through 5 shitty bands.

reverend ana t 03-19-2006 12:02 PM
Shoulda gone to Emo's.
I did, but I still missed like 15 other bands I wanted to see because I'm not 21 and didn't have a wristband. Trail of Dead didn't play at Emo's, either... they did some bar on 8th by 35.

I have a trunk full of fliers and CDs now, though.

pixiesfanyo 03-19-2006 12:04 PM

Lifetime played at Emo's

reverend ana t 03-19-2006 12:37 PM

I know... I missed them and wanted to beat myself. Someone said they did some Kid Dynamite song, but I dono how accurate that statement is.
