Harvester of sorrow is a AJFA song too right?
Really like that intro too, nice drumming again
ah yes it is, did i miss it?
You can hardly hear the bass, its true. You can also download from several places on the net versions of the songs with people who've added bass to it if you're that bothered. Part of AJFA being AJFA is the tinny guitars, the weird drums and the pretty much nonexistent bass. It was a weird mix. Is it just me that can feel a lot of anger coming from AJFA? Far more than St Anger... It feels like there's a lot of emotion in it, and its very raw and powerful.
you just have to listen to the live bass. St. Anger actually feels more angry than AJFA in my opinion. |

To be honest, I think The Unnamed Feeling sounds angry. I can almost relate well to that song. Past that, AJFA sounded a lot more honest in its anger, and certainly like it had been pent up for a lot longer.
:smash: (As a side note, I'm looking for Ascendancy by Trivium... If anyone has it and fancies sharing, please don't hesitate to say so! :)) |
I hate Harvester Of Sorrow. Puts me to sleep.
Harvester Of Sorrow is one of the best songs I've ever heard. |

St. Anger is way more raw and angry imo. Especially the vocals. |
I think the vocals are only angry cos he shouts them.

Out all my friends that say they hate Metallica, they either like just Harvester of Sorrow or Enter Sandman or both.
St. Anger is way more raw and angry imo. Especially the vocals.
Yes I do agree with this. |
I like Harvester because it's just one riff after another, and they're all agressive, fun to play riffs.
|
When I think about it I thikn that the point of the AJFA album was the pain james, lars, and kirk wen thru wen they lost cliff. I think that they all felt like a family and james felt that it was an "injustice" that cliff was taken for no reason, it just gave them a hard time and i think that they felt like God was just punishing them for no reson "justice is gone".
|
I believe it's Justice Is Done.
I believe only To Live Is To Die is about Cliff, and the rest is a bout assholes. |
It's justice is gone.
|
Actually... its both.
|
I looked at the lyrics, it says justice is gone, and then after another line it says justice is done.
Man, I'm listening to that download concert again. It owns so hard. I gotta see Metallica live this time around. |
The drum sound on the recordings is horrible. Good show though. I hope they go back to Download next year. I'm not much of a festival person - but they'd draw me in.

Yea that concert was great especially songs with Joey. Seek and destroy, creeping death, and from whom the bell tolls were all great. Plus drumming was different than lars'. Lars will probably add some more complexity into drums in the next album too. Like how he had a drum intro in almost every song on st. anger. That never happened on any album before. |
Yea listen to the song, he says both like 10 times.
|
The only below-par recording on the Download cd was Battery but it's still okay.
Creeping Death and Sad But True are ace. |
Lars has a lot of talent and that was shown on St.Anger. I hope that they giv him a chance to solo like they did for cliff like mayb another intrumental with a drum solo. Or maaybe he can show off in the middle of a song for a bit just not as much power as st.anger's drums were. What I also think would be cool is a St.Anger type of instrumental (in drop C) i kno that they could definetly pull that off, they havnt made one in like 18 years

The drumming on St. Anger was average as usual. |

Lars... talent... they are in the same sentence... dude James is better than him. Instrumentals in drop C, they could do it but it better have less bass so you can decipher what they play. |
how can James be better than Lars if they are playing two completely different instruments? Lars' drummer was below average and had horrible tone on st.anger. the album as a whole lacked technicality and talent for the most part. note to metallica-using a baritone and/or tuning to drop C doesnt make you any heavier. they were/still are one of my favourite bands, even the Black album wasnt all too bad, but geez. i saw them last november and theyre still amazing, but i guess they realized what a failure St.anger was too seeing as in their 3 1/2 hour set they only played 2 songs from st.anger.
The drumming on St. Anger was average as usual.
I'd say the tone/sound brought it down even more, thus making it below average.. "Pwaaaaaaanngg!!! Pwaaaaaaannng!!! Clunck Clunck Clunck." People say it sounds like trash cans, and I strongly agree. |
