Check out Dungeon too.

/fanboy

Hibria are more Speed Metal to me.
They sound like Power Metal to me, but its still worth checking out.

Brian, while you are at it, check out 3 Inches of Blood and Jag Panzer.

gmoneyguy 04-15-2006 08:17 PM

I already have some 3 inches of blood and jag panzer, but I'll give them a closer listen. I geuss I have more power metal then I realized.

gillygan 04-15-2006 08:20 PM

The first time I heard Hibria I thought they were pretty original (compared to most PM) and very good. I listened to them the other day and thought they were neither of those

Riva 04-15-2006 08:32 PM

Sorry, Brian, you're getting a lot of false information.

Best power metal: Lost Horizon, Savatage, Tarot, Galloglass, Therion, Dungeon.

GenuineImitation 04-15-2006 08:33 PM

Running Wild is good also.

You should donate some to the Daily Upload. :)

SO I searched through my Gmail and found an active link for Iced Earth - Something Wicked This Way Comes

NP Iced Earth - 1776

Deth 04-15-2006 08:38 PM

It would have to have been added in the past few weeks, I usually scope out the site often for updates.

EDIT: To Jammie of course.

Oh ok. I went on the site like yesterday, but it had been a shiwl I hadn't gone on it. There are 2 band sites I go on very frequently though. Very easy to guess.

NP Iced EArth - Winter Nights

Deth 04-15-2006 08:44 PM

I'm sorry to hear that.

i am the robots 04-15-2006 09:35 PM

So I decided to check out Caliban and As I Lay Dying today, and I have to say, yes I have heard them, but I never took them seriously, and after giving them a chance, I still can't take them seriously... I mean, As I Lay Dying has potential, but they're so bland... and then Caliban is great musically, but listening to their singer makes my voice feel strained. It really astounds me that kids like those bands so much out of the whole scene they're in... like they act like they're the best thing in it, but then they sound like watered down versions of Killswitch [yes, I am a fanboy, but they're not the best thing ever, I know].

Shattered_Future 04-15-2006 10:11 PM

As I Lay Dying could be good if they bothered to shoot their vocalist and get somebody with originality and write their own music instead of ripping off every other American metal band around today.

Never heard of the other.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-15-2006 11:01 PM

I listened to Thievery Corporation for the first time today.

Wahah, I liked it lots. :-D

Oh, and I heard the new Tool single. It's also great.

I found Thievery Corporation fairly boring =\.

PinkFreud 04-16-2006 12:53 AM

I like Thievery Corporation.

One of the strippers danced to Tool. It was one of the defining moments of my life. And it wasn't even Schism. It was Pu****. Great times. And I only spent 8 dollars for a good 4 hours. I shall be back.

The problem with AILD is that,

Each album has a couple great songs. The rest is just the same song over and over.

The need to vary their sound among songs and take their time.

I like their vocalist though.

aria333 04-16-2006 01:28 AM

wasup guys seein opeth friday wooho

Josh 04-16-2006 02:42 AM

'sup guys. it's 9.30am and i've been awake for 2 and a half hours already. i have a bad back, and i'm ridiculously tired, but i should have a good day, seeing as i'm off to my gfs in an hour or so :)
question for you guys though - what genre are Shadows Fall? i can't really classify them, and i like having all my music's genres accurate.
