Reading Blair's newsletters can be compared to cutting ones wrists.

Utterly useless.

oh, and fatal.

got tool? 04-08-2006 07:46 PM
Man, your avatar is fucking awesome. Probably my favorite Lateralus-themed image I've ever seen.
Parabola ftw!

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 08:34 PM
I can't believe they named it 10,000 Days. I mean there was just an album called 10,000 Fists. It better have a good reason to be named that.
You're not the first to wonder. I won't even inquire as to why Tool named it that. While Lateralus and Ænima are extremely novel in originality compared to 10,000 Days, I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that the actual content of the album will live up the the expectations of their previous, better-named albums. :p

Oh, and 123 at Blair's newsletter. I don't give a **** about any stupid freaking giant rock. Even though it was a pretty cool stupid freaking giant rock.

Moses 04-08-2006 08:35 PM

Like I said... 10,000 Years would have been way better.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 09:20 PM

I'm really beginning to like the title Rosetta Stoned, though. And Blame Hoffman. Drug references are something I really wasn't expecting from Tool, though.

Moze- You're not Tool, sorry. :p

PS: I'm falling in lust with Entropia. It only took me three months. I'm regretting not ever getting around to downloading that other PoS album you uploaded. Sorry. :upset:

Moses 04-08-2006 09:22 PM

Maybe it's "stoned" as in stoning someone to death. I doubt it though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 09:27 PM

Well, considering that the second half of the song "Lost Keys(Blame Hoffman)" is obviously about LSD,(Especially after reading about Camella's birthday party/Blair's flashback) chances are it has something to do with some sort of psychoactive state, heh. :p

nearly off topic - Has anyone ever thought about how odd the acronym LSD is for Lysergic Acid Dimethylamide? If anything, it should be LAD or LADMA or something. Just thought I'd interject that...

bwnstl 04-08-2006 09:31 PM

I hope I'm right with my theory about what Rosetta Stoned might refer to, that way I can come back here and laugh.

Darkness 04-08-2006 09:32 PM

I'm so glad you're back Jake.

Moses 04-08-2006 09:32 PM

Noone in here does LSD besides you Jake.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 09:38 PM

bwnstl - What was your theory?

Mike - Thanks, hehe. Hopefully I'm here to stay, but once I get my computer mended, and once I get a new graphics card, I'll probably fall back into my groove of fag RPGs.

Moses - I've never done LSD, thank you very much!

Darkness 04-08-2006 09:43 PM
Mike - Thanks, hehe. Hopefully I'm here to stay, but once I get my computer mended, and once I get a new graphics card, I'll probably fall back into my groove of fag RPGs.
Which games? I can honestly say that the only computer game I still enjoy is Warcraft III. Classic game. :) But otherwise, I stick to PS2...

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 09:52 PM

Mainly Morrowind. That game is so epic...Once I get my new graphics card, I'll get Oblivion, the successor to Morrowind in the Elder Scrolls series.

For any interested, I found out why the abbreviation LSD is used;
i"LSD" is an initialism formed from the German chemical name of the compound, Lysergsäure-diethylamid.
Huber 04-08-2006 09:55 PM

StarCraft will always reign supreme over all games in my eyes

Darkness 04-08-2006 09:57 PM
StarCraft will always reign supreme over all games in my eyes
That game never hit me like the Warcraft series did. I really dig medieval themes and stories over futuristic/sci-fi ones, so that's probably why. Still a decent game though.

Stolen from ToolNavy forums:

Track length!

http://www.sonybmg.de/artists2.php?...uct=82876819912

Tracklist - CD
01 Tool Vicarious 07:06
02 Tool Jambi 07:28
03 Tool Wings For Marie (Pt 1) 06:11
04 Tool 10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2) 11:14
05 Tool The Pot 06:22
06 Tool Lipan Conjuring 01:11
07 Tool Lost Keys (Blame Hofman) 03:44
08 Tool Rosetta Stoned 11:14
09 Tool Intension 07:21
10 Tool Right In Two 08:56
11 Tool Viginti Tres 05:01

Looking good. And note that the albums two longest songs/tracks/parts of songs/whatevers, 10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2) and Rosetta Stoned are both 11:14 long.

I wonder, I wonder, I wonder, what would happen if one was to play the two songs together, starting them at the exact same second to see if something interesting happens....

I doubt it, but then again I'm sure it could be cool if you're an acid user.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 09:58 PM

Eh, I find Starcraft to be too similair to other strategy games like Warcraft, Ages of: Younameit, and the like.

Track length: Mm, that would be very epic to lay two tracks over each to end up with one track. Novel idea, one I hope to apply if Tool didn't actually do that. (6)

Darkness 04-08-2006 09:59 PM

I thought LK (Lost Keys?) was suppost to be 18 minutes long? Perhaps they did end up breaking it up?

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 10:02 PM

Yeah, what the hell?

Then again, we got that piece of info from Blair, and he can go eat one.

Huber 04-08-2006 10:04 PM

Starcraft is possibly the most balanced game ever. All the races are completely equal while remaining completely unique, and there's no supreme strategy, and endless Use Map Settings games.

Plus, it's probably the only game that has gotten BIGGER over the years, and not gotten old. StarCraft is still gaining players and hasn't lost many. 8 years running.

:/ sorry to bring my StarCraft rants in here...

So yeah, looks like the 10,000 Days duo makes up the 18 minutes. Didn't Maynard wanna make that a Ringtone?

BlindWriting 04-08-2006 10:06 PM

As stated before, The original track, formerly known as the 15 minute Lost Keys, has since been broken up into Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman) and Rosetta Stoned. One song, two tracks, sort of in the Parabol/Parabola sense.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 10:06 PM

He wanted to make some 18 minute track a ringtone. But that 18 minute track had the initials LK.

Wings= 18 minutes
Lost Keys = LK

Fuck it, lets just have ringtones for all Tool songs!

Blair's original estimation upon hearing LK for the first time was that it was 17 minutes. But if you reread the newsletter you can quote him on saying something like "...but then again it could have been as short as fifteen minutes". So there ya go.

Darkness 04-08-2006 10:11 PM

Yeah, I just remembered that. He said it was just an estimation, and could have been off.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 10:13 PM

Don't blame Hofman. Blame Blair.

New thread title?

Darkness 04-08-2006 10:14 PM

Agreed.

Moses 04-08-2006 10:36 PM

Heh, if we had Kage and AJIG here it'd be all the regs.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-08-2006 10:48 PM

Rob can come too.

NP: PoS - People Passing By

Late found love for Jake. :-D
