I have to disagree, Alt/Indie is my favourite genre :thumb:
I have to disagree, Alt/Indie is my favourite genre :thumb:
not many people would agree with me on that, but that won't change my opinion.
although none of my top few favorite bands are death metal, it's still an amazing genre i think....there is a lot of shit in it though, as with any genre.

Mr. Jiggy Fly 11-25-2004 03:55 PM

I think pop-punk is the best genre.

neal_672 11-25-2004 03:55 PM

Screaming really doesn't agree with my ears, i prefer mellower stuff or general Rock like Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine etc...

Mr. Jiggy Fly 11-25-2004 03:56 PM

^^Audioslave, RATM, Soundgarden all kick butt.

bassist-bmxer 11-25-2004 03:58 PM

do you like tool neal 672?

in RATM, Zach De La Rocha does plenty of screaming.

and in death metal it's not screaming, it's a gutteral growl! a gutteral growl i sez!!!11 :)

Mr. Jiggy Fly 11-25-2004 03:59 PM

^^I was about to say that RATM screams. I also love tool.

Spaceman Spiff 11-25-2004 03:59 PM
^^Audioslave, RATM, Soundgarden all kick butt.
i love RATM.
i love Soundgarden.
i don't like Audioslave. :upset:

Mr. Jiggy Fly 11-25-2004 03:59 PM

^^I think its a good mix.

Neal, do you like scissor sisters?

neal_672 11-25-2004 04:01 PM

Hmmm he doesn't scream in the way i'm thinking of, the screaming type thing i'm thinking of sounds like they're trying to belch up their own stomach :P To be perfectly honest i haven't heard a great deal by Tool, i've heard stuff by them in passing, but never really paid much attention....

neal_672 11-25-2004 04:02 PM

Mr. Jiggy Fly 11-25-2004 04:13 PM

How long should someone have been playing until they can play the beginning of classical thump? Im having a hard time playing the open-hammer on part up to speed.

Mr. Jiggy Fly 11-25-2004 04:14 PM

^^That sucks man...

i checked it out, it wasn't that impressive in my opinion.

and there are certain differences between the genres.

death metal: Gorguts, Bloodbath, Cryptopsy, Opeth, Children Of Bodom, Death, Carcass, At The Gates, Malevolent Creation, Dark Tranquillity :naughty: :naughty:

all this talk of death metal is getting me in the mood :naughty:

Mr. Jiggy Fly 11-25-2004 04:16 PM

For what? Sacraficing a chicken to satan?

peeted 11-25-2004 04:16 PM

mabie 2 years before you can play mabie the 1st 30 secs. some people wud be able to play the whole thing after a year but others would be playing 7 years and still not be able to do it. just depends on you

it all depnds on how much you practice it.

and are you talking about the second part of the intro where he slaps each string open then hammers? for some reason i find that more difficult than the double thumbing.

Mr. Jiggy Fly 11-25-2004 04:19 PM

^^thats the part.

Mr. Jiggy Fly 11-25-2004 04:22 PM

someone give me a song to learn. im bored

Spaceman Spiff 11-25-2004 04:22 PM
For what? Sacraficing a chicken to satan?
first of all, i sacrafice fish because there are more kinds, therefore more flavours for satan.
and second, satan isn't such a bad guy when you get to know him. he just punishes people who were bad in their mortal life, it's like he's grabbing any nice person off the street and dragging them to hell. he just makes people suffer in death who made others suffer in life.
HAIL SATAN!

thats only hard for me because its hard to keep the other strings from still ringing after you move on up

bassist-bmxer 11-25-2004 04:23 PM

practice playing it not slapping first, that will help your left hand adapt to it.
