Ornery Cephalopod 02-05-2005 04:16 PM

The other day I bought:

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

...so I've been diggity-diggin' them up.

pinkyeti 02-05-2005 05:12 PM

Blackalicious.

br3ad_man 02-05-2005 05:24 PM
today i bought m83 - before the dawn heals us, air - talkie walkie, talking heads - speaking in tounges, animal collective - sung tongs, gang of four - entertainment!, and mf doom - mm... food.

all are very good.
sik 1 m83. That's such a sweet album.

I'm really digging Arcade Fire. I almost bought the latest Nick Cave yesterday on sale and I will buy it eventually, I just have to get around to it.

Tapeworm 02-05-2005 10:54 PM
'Get ready for love' is quite possibley the most foot-tapping-head-bopping 1st song on a disc in the history of australian music
Amen.

Nick Cave is my man of the week. I've also been diggin' Danse Macabre as I gave the my DJ friend the album and now she plays it all the time and it's freakin great.

thriftstoresweater 02-05-2005 11:11 PM

yeah yeah yeahs

Bandaid 02-06-2005 01:03 AM

some of the whitlams lately, im surprised how musical thet are now that i actually have some of their cds and can listen to them in entirity

wheelz 02-06-2005 02:10 AM

i didn't really like the arcade fire when i first heard them a while back, but now i'm totally loving "funeral".

i'm also liking the fiery furnaces. i saw that blueberry boat was high on pitchfork's best albums of 2004 list, then read a list the next day that called it worst album of the year, so i had to hear it. do most of you around here not named ihateusernames like these guys? seems to be a pretty love it or hate it thing.

wheelz 02-06-2005 02:11 AM
Now you're allowed to post in this forum, I guess.
finally! thanks buddy.

Tangy zizzle 02-06-2005 02:22 AM

They're popular.

I introduced that album to this forum, I kinda regret it now.

indy_undy 02-06-2005 04:55 AM

Is Euphoria Morning by Chris Cornell worth checking out?

Why so?

wheelz 02-06-2005 05:46 AM
I think I'll pick up Les Savy Fav's or Guided by Voices' best of. They good?
les savy fav's "inches" is great. one of my favorite albums of 2004.

wheelz 02-06-2005 05:51 AM

it almost saddens me that it took this long before i heard "damaged goods" by gang of four. what the hell took me so long?

on an unrelated note, it definitely does sadden me every time i hear "car chase terror" by m83. **** that song's... emotional. and good.

Tomahawk 02-06-2005 06:29 AM
Is Euphoria Morning by Chris Cornell worth checking out?
Yes, definitely. It's not quite on Soundgarden levels, but it's better than Audioslave.

It's nothing like either of those bands though, it's more of a singer/songwriter type thing. Steel Rain is fucking amazing, such an great song. Even if you don't get the album, everybody should check out that song.

The Ashtray Girl 02-06-2005 06:43 AM

I'm digging My Chemical Romance today.

Tapeworm 02-06-2005 07:49 AM

I agree with Tomahawk on the Cornell statements.

I was just listening to Led Zep for the first time in ages, and I like them again. Houses of the Holy is such a great album.

Bartender 02-06-2005 10:50 AM

Went CD shopping today (with the intention of getting something by Dinosaur Jr, actually). Now the proud owner of;
Therapy? - Infernal Love
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life

And the cautious owner of;
The Polyphonic Spree - Together We're Heavy

I only have two pound coins and a flora tub full of shrapnel between me and starvation now, though.

Really? I felt like that track was the weak point. Just so tacky and overdramatic. I don't particularly want to hear a poor voice actor amidst all the music... it hurt the overall flow of the album.

pinkyeti 02-06-2005 11:03 AM

How long do you have to live with the money?

maybe it's just the drugs then. they seem to help the effect.

don't you at least love the music to that track?

asymm 02-06-2005 11:27 AM
don't you at least love the music to that track?
Yeah, I do enjoy the music on that track, but of course the poor voice actor comes back in the middle of it. Oh well, could've been a great song, now it's just a decent one.

Bartender 02-06-2005 11:31 AM
How long do you have to live with the money?
Not sure. Presumably until whenever my parents decide to give me more :)

I have a couple of tins of hot dogs in my cupboard, though, and the shrapnel could well be up to £15 or so. There's quite a bit of it.

Happymeal 02-06-2005 06:16 PM

I couldn't find Congregation anywhere so I had to settle with buying Nebula's Atomic Ritual. Pretty good so far.

Robert Crumb 02-06-2005 07:44 PM

The Futureheads
Bebel Gilberto
Charizma y Peanut Butter Wolf
its a good album, dont be worried.
Yeah, but I bought it blind (so I could have something to go with Songs in the Key of Life in the two-for-£20 sale). I've been digging it most of today though and so far, you're right, it is a good album, so all is well.

The Ashtray Girl 02-07-2005 12:38 PM

I've been digging a lot of X Japan and M83, so thanks to bread and Iai. :)

pinkyeti 02-07-2005 01:01 PM

Morrissey and X Japan too.

Tapeworm 02-07-2005 05:58 PM

Sage frickin' Francis.

asymm 02-07-2005 06:03 PM

Hood's newest release Outside Closer

It's a pretty decent album that fans of the Notwist's Neon Golden would find something they enjoy...

NineBitFable 02-07-2005 07:08 PM
Sonic Youth
Which album? (Awesome band, btw)

pixiesfanyo 02-07-2005 07:09 PM
