Well i dont listen to a lot of Melo-Death.
There is a lot of good stuff out there though. Hit up the Melo-Death thread.

Hawks 04-13-2008 04:46 PM

The Melo-Death bands that im really into are In Flames, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, Into Eternity, and Soilwork mostly.

I like all of those, except I haven't heard Insomnium yet. There is a lot of stuff out there that goes beyond the sound of those bands but its equally good.

Hawks 04-13-2008 04:52 PM

Insomnium could be the best out of all of them. You should check them out.

Im seeing whitechapel in the summer

Dimmu Burger 04-13-2008 08:42 PM
Im seeing whitechapel in the summer
I want to see them on the Summer Slaughter, but I don't think I'll make it up to Philly. I'll try though, I want a cheesesteak.

Aakon_Keetreh 04-13-2008 09:04 PM

Summer slaughter is coming straight to utah, so thats nice for me.
Im seeing whitechapel in the summer
I was supposed to see them but my friends didn't get tickets. I'm going to a different show instead, featuring bands that Sputnik hates.

Iluvatar 04-13-2008 09:29 PM

The Beatles were such a great proto-deathcore band.

Pete 04-13-2008 10:37 PM
Um, In Flames and Dark Tranquillity are hardly "traditional" melo-death. They're traditional and representative of the Gothenberg sound, but that's about it. There's more than one kind of Melo-Death and the best flavours usually arent of the watered down Swedish variety.
i resent this statement

rasputin 04-13-2008 11:37 PM
You should probably avoid definitive statements if you fully admit to being inexperienced in the pertinent subject matter.
Am I the only one who found this comment hilarious?

Yes. His point was valid.

Summer Slaughter will be here just after I move away, I believe :/

Pebster49 04-14-2008 01:58 AM

We all think we are dexterous, even though we only know so much in a subject matter. I think it was funny because Cocaine thinks he is god in any subject matter.

Invicta_Veritas 04-14-2008 01:59 AM

He's far from pretentious though; most of the time he's at least got a convincing argument.
Yes. His point was valid.
When did I ever say his point was invalid? I just thought it was funny the way he said it.

adb 04-14-2008 02:34 AM

I think almost everything Cocaine says is lol worthy tbh. He's like an untamed animal, or to be specific, a vicious cat. Rawr.

Pebster49 04-14-2008 02:55 AM

So anways, lets come back to Deathcore again...ie all Hail ASP!
I never though that they were that melodic. Then again i dont listen to them that much at all. But they definitely dont sound like traditional Melo-Death bands like In Flames or Dark Tranquillity.
TTEOTD like The Black Dahlia Murder don't have the traditional Gothenburg sound of At The Gates and In Flames but are still Melodic Death.

I wouldn't mind seeing Carnifex live. Or for that matter Suicide Silence.
