i hope you realise that neither was I..

Hmm...I quite like the songs that weren't included on The Crusade, but were on the Anthem Single. (Broken One and Vengeance). Except the solos, they have that ignorant "me like to play fast!" vibe to them.

SixStringKing 11-06-2006 05:13 PM

yeah i love the broken one.. havent heard vengeance... you wanna send me it? :)

Insipid2000 11-06-2006 07:30 PM

Meh. Solo's are fun to play but other than that you're not missing out on much. And I was a huge fan before.

The I in Mikes is an L
ill owe ya one if you need anything in the future.
But Insipid, though the crusade has gotten ripped to shreds on the forums its definately worth the 13 bucks to pick up.. i love it, and tho its not like the old trivium its a great listen

Phil 11-09-2006 09:00 AM

I listened to it once which is probably one too many times. I admit there were a few good songs but nothing which made me want to go out and get it. The title track wasn't that great, it was just a jumble of stuff put together I think. The lyrics in some songs were quite good but some of them were just too cheesy or plain bad.

I completely agree, its just like WOAHH look what I can do, uncreative pentatonic scale riding

The Persian 11-13-2006 02:11 AM

It's a good CD man... I wish it had a little more brutal parts to it but... their direction still sounds pretty good, it's a solid CD

Wigga Stole My Bike 11-13-2006 03:19 AM

I was a big fan of Ascendancy, but the Crusade is lacking I felt, vocally anyway, it's nice to get away from the regular Heafy voice, but I don't think he can pull off normal singing for an entire album.

Though I do think they are extremely talented musician wise, and have some amazing guitar solos.
ACTUALLY stating that it is the worst song youve ever heard is a fact not oppinion.
So its fact then? Coz its gotta be fact or opinion.

Hate Crew Deathroll 12-21-2006 03:03 AM

I'm downloading the soundboard recording of Trivium's performance at Download Festival 2006. Apparantly it was bad so I'll be able to hear how it is.

They sounded OK when I was there, but when I heard the live recording on Kerrang! TV (e.g. one of the sh1ttiest music channels in existence 95% of the time) it was pretty abbysmal.

Hate Crew Deathroll 12-21-2006 06:14 AM

Yeah I was there too but I didn't really pay much attention to how well they played, I just tried to have fun.

And I agree with Kerrang sucking baws. I used to like it but now I listen to much more aggressive music and that's all like nu-metal and pop punk.

I downloaded a live video of them at Rock AM Ring too and that's not too bad. You can definitely hear them all ****ing up quite alot though.

VomitStainedCretin 12-21-2006 06:21 AM

What really annoys me about Kerrang! TV is that they seem to be 5-10 years behind everyone else, i.e. they play hardly any new stuff and if they do its something like Fag Out Boy. And the fact, as you mentioned, they just play sh1tty pop-punk and Nu-Metal.

alytee123 12-21-2006 02:53 PM

Kerrang's everday playlist consists of:

Green Day- American Idiot
Tenacious D- Tribute
Metallica- One
KoRn- Freak On A Leash

and pop punk....that is it.

Is anyone here gonna be heading to the Trivium European tour? I'l hopefully be sorting out my Hammersmith ticket after christmas when I have some cash.

I really didnt think that at all . ..

To me the solos couldnt fit the music any better. Theres the first one in Detonation which is pretty rubbish but other than that I quite like their use of scales.
Mind you, theyre never gonna rival DragonForce

I meant just those two songs (Broken One and Vengeance) The other solos on the actual album fit pretty well, and sounded ok. Depending on the song.

Invicta_Veritas 01-01-2007 03:13 PM

I really, really like Trivium, but The Crusade was the most dissappointing album of 2006, and not just because of the vocals. What the hell happened to the riffing and the solos? All the guitar work went to sh*t.....

I think the poorness of the live performance finally washed over onto record...

Thasis 01-01-2007 06:24 PM

Well I had that initial opinion when I first listened to it... and then I REALY listened to it. Not only did it grow on me vocally (which I thought would never come) but it grew on me musically. It's actualy quite amazing what they accomplished.

Also the lyrics were wayyy better on the newer album. Still only half-decent, but better then when Matt Heafy wrote ALL of them. Don't get me wrong Matt Heafy is great, just not the greatest lyrics writer.

I think the lyrics are terrible, whatever happened to suggestive language?

The lyrics were and still are just fucking wretched.

Matt should have paid attention in English!!! Instead, he practiced sucking at the guitar.

What are you talking about, arpeggios and pentatonic wankage sound good all the time. You kids and your well thought out meaningful solos...pppbbbbfff. Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, yea!

You sir, are a fucking idiot. :thumb:

They don't sound good if the guitarist can't use them well!!! Or even play his damn guitar without messing up countless times live!!(seen 'em)

Fitting the music could be harmonic minor wank in Necrophagist or an actually emotion-filled jazz lick.
