Oh I thought you were stuffing me round :p.

I told him you had a copy, but I wasn't sure whether it'd be the same as our version or not. He said it's the original so it should be.
What grade are you now days, 7 or 8?

What's going on with everyone these days?

I played a solo last night and everyone loved it. They kept going on about it today. The principal (who's a muso) found it hard to believe that I didn't have a professional model trombone ("I didn't think anyone could get such a great tone out of a student model!"). He said it's either one of the most beautiful pieces or playing he's heard in ages.
Hehe.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 05-16-2006 02:12 AM

I don't have a copy though? :-/

I'm not grading.. but I play pieces that are well above grade 8 standard.

Trigger_003 05-16-2006 04:06 PM

O ok soz, "Wait.. are you talking about the Addinsell one? I have that one." threw me off there, haha.

Aes820 05-16-2006 07:21 PM

At the moment I'm preparing some updates to that youthweek website. We'll be putting up some of the talent comp entries.
Some of them are really good.

There's one acoustic song by a chick called Morgan...
Wow, is all I can say.
And that's just from seeing her bio pic.

Oh right.. I meant I have the piece.

Aes820 05-22-2006 01:04 AM

On that youthweek website that I worked on we set up this online voting thing for the talent comps. You can pick your favourite entry and vote for it, the entry with the most votes wins the people's choice awards.
I'm sure you get the idea.

Anyhoo. We log IP addresses, so we can weed out multiple votes for the one entry. Only one vote per IP address per competition will be counted.

It's kind of amusing looking at the output file for this voting form and see how some people have set there for a good 10 mintues or so voting for their entry over and over.
Click on vote, back button, vote, back button, vote, back button, etc etc.
Seems that some people are determined to win, shame only one of those votes will actually count.

Orly? ;)

Haha, it's classic how people vote like that eh? And if they don't win, they wonder how they couldn't possibly have won.
Have you got password recovery questions on any of your sites? Some of those are absolutely classic.

I might check out some of those youthweek entries actually... I'm interested in how it all turned out. I'm sure that site will get a lot more votes than our little composition challenge here.

Aes820 05-23-2006 03:20 AM

Some of the 18-25 RockIT entries are bloody brilliant.

Unholy Quesadilla 05-23-2006 07:47 PM

Hello, my name is Ben, new to this forum. I play guitar, piano, drums, and I play bass like how a guitar guy would play bass. But I'm not good at any of the instruments. I've decided to focus on guitar so I could at least get somewhere with it.

Not in a band at this point. I find it pretty difficult to find the right people for band-mates. So right now I'm just doing stuff on my own, or collaborate with some friends on a per project basis. I'm trying to learn how to write songs, so far my projects have been just recording cover songs.

Trigger_003 05-25-2006 12:15 AM

G'day, nice to meet you. I'm Trea :).

In case you haven't stumbled across it yet, if you need any help with guitar, there's a beginner's question section in the guitar forum where you can get some advice from:
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=60
The people there are generally pretty helpful.

guitar-->amp---> comp (using direct out)---line in

could i record like this?

Trigger_003 05-26-2006 10:32 PM

Hey Ben :). How are ya?

woo! 17!!!
Haha, my mates did a surprise party for me. I walked out from my massive maths exam last night, kinda staring into JB's as I walked down to the end of Russel St where I was supposed to meet the parentals, and suddenly I got attacked by several people in masks, capes, etc. who then threw me an inflated guitar, masked me up and we headed off into the laneways of Melbourne, scaring/amusing/confusing many people as we went.
Wish I'd got video - some classic stuff happened.

Gav, I don't think we're doing warsaw concerto for the concert anymore, sorry :(.

Aes820 05-26-2006 10:39 PM

Wow.. Happy brithday Trea.
Did you get anything, apart from the surprise?

I had a mates birthday last night as well.
He turned 25, so we went out for some teppenyaki - Ate raw fish, got bits of egg throw at us and drank Sake. Then after dinner we wandered down the road to a nearby pub and attempted to drink it dry.

Just now I headed out and bought myself a new couch suite.
It's full leather, a 3 seater and two singles.
A dead set bargain for $1300.

http://www.dropbear.net/house/couch.jpg
Now I've actually got stuff to put in my lounge.

Trigger_003 05-27-2006 01:07 AM

Haha, sounds like fun. Gotta love a good party.

Thanks Chris :). I got a couple of CDs and that kinda stuff but it was mostly money this year, which can't go astray I guess. Someone put together and framed this awesome collection of photos of me and my mates at various parties, the formal, etc. which was really sweet. I'd show you but... well, yeah.

Nice suite you've got yourself there. It looks awesome

Diatonic Dissonance™ 05-27-2006 02:15 AM

Holy crap, that means it's been more than a year that I've known you.

Freaky.

Happy birthday.

Trigger_003 05-27-2006 04:42 PM

*hums x-files tune*

Yeah, doesn't feel like a year, does it?

Alive 05-31-2006 12:53 PM

W00t, happy birthday Trea, hope you had an awsome one :D

Now, I'll use this a chance to postwhore a request.

If anyone has any of the things I'm looking for in this thread, an upload would be greatly appreciated ;)

JackedGuitarist 05-31-2006 09:44 PM

New Here

I already know that the real answer to this question is whatever my band decieds on and what he think is important but i was wondering how all of you felt on the subject of either making a current member of the band (none of which is just a singer) sing, or finding someone that really has a voice we like. We have people that can sing alright, they def aren't bad, and we are all friends with chemestry so should we mess witht he chem and bring in someone new or just go along with what we have going? in your opinon

Trigger_003 06-01-2006 12:10 AM

:D

I've possibly got the trumpet concerto but I can't find the CD at the moment... sorry. If I find it and nobody else has it, I'll upload it but I doubt I'll find it in time seeing as exams start tomorrow.

G'day Jack :). Just wait the 24 hours after joining then make a thread with that question. You'll get a lot more answers that way.

Aes820 06-01-2006 12:40 AM

I reckon if someone can already sing in your band then stick with that.

Another amusing day at work.
We had a printed publication distributed.
On this publication is a website address that people can visit to get more info.
Someone must've missed it in the proofreading stage and it turns out that this website address is wrong. Oops.

The solution: Register the wrong website address, have it redirect to the right one. A dodgy solution, but one none-the-less. $377.

Alive 06-02-2006 02:26 PM

Ah, no need to worry about it now Trea.

Chris(?), did you ever finish learning that acoustic version of Living On a Prayer?

Aes820 06-02-2006 07:49 PM

Nah. It's really hard without a tab/music to go along with.

kevbud187 06-02-2006 11:15 PM

Herro everyone.

Just stopping by
To say
hi -

Alive 06-04-2006 08:08 AM

There's a Guitar Pro tab floating around, I'n not actually sure if it's the same version though :S. I'll upload it if you like.

Moaner, did you take C1 and C2 (maths exams) the other week?
