Hey, I found some sweet videos hidden deep into the Officail Pink Floyd site....

http://www.pinkfloyd.co.uk/main.php?flash=present&quicktime=present

then click 'Echoes Album Site', a new window sould pop up, then choose your connection speed. Then click the box thing between the words Pink Floyd and Echoes, and go to video player.

There's everthing from Behind the Wall Tour Documentary to Animal's TV commercials.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

DeusExMachina 02-13-2005 03:45 PM

Dude! Rad link. Thanks a lot.

Shazzam 02-13-2005 03:46 PM

Yeah, it took me 2 hours to watch them all last night!

Yeah my neighbour showed me that site its awesome. Lots of cool pictures too.

Shazzam 02-13-2005 04:57 PM

Make sure you see the videos of Gilmour playing on the official site home page, they're incredible.

Distant Echoes 02-13-2005 05:30 PM

I was on that site a few months ago...when looking for some sweet floyd pictures for my desktop and avators and such. Figured i couldnt copy and paste, so i copied the whole screen (prnt scrn button) , pasted on Paint, edited the picture to the right size then saved it.

I spent hours on that site when i found out about it...alot of cool stuff, but not as much i i had hoped from the official floyd site. Diverse, but not in depth.

Still great, nonetheless

are they releasing some sort of Gilmour in concert DVD?
what exactly is the deal with that?

So, I haven't really been posting in this thread for a while. I was thinking about this the other day: Who do you guys think is the band that is like the modern Pink Floyd. I realize that no band will ever reproduce the euphoric goodness known as Pink Floyd, but just have some fun with it. I think that in the musical sense, Radiohead and Porcupine Tree are very closely related to Floyd. They're both very relaxing, emotional bands. As for the complexity and symbolic level it would have to be Tool. Both Tool and Pink Floyd's music is stuffed full of unseen meanings, plus they're both prog. Your turn. Remember no "Nobody is like Pink Floyd" plzthx

Dr. Jake Destructo 02-13-2005 10:06 PM

Normally, I would edit my post, but since I can't, here: If you haven't heard either of those bands, I HIGHLY reccomend each of them. They each have something amazing about them.

Shazzam 02-13-2005 10:08 PM

I'll check em' out

Shazzam 02-13-2005 10:29 PM

I'll check em' out...

DeusExMachina 02-14-2005 10:04 PM

Hows about Modest Mouse? Or, I haven't heard them, but I've heard very good things about The Mars Volta.

Dr. Jake Destructo 02-14-2005 10:07 PM

I checked out a song by The Mars Volta off of their leaked new album. It sounded very Radiohead-esque to me, but it was only one song, so I can't say much about them.

woaw. so much fans. you amazed me, guys. i don't know how old are you but Pink Floyd are reputated to be our parents' kind of group... i just think they could last 10 other years again.
yep, i have in my family two other addicted and i'm getting myself gradually amazed by Pink Floyd.
in fact, my father picked out - i don't know....- maybe 10 or more lives of Pink Floyd on internet and he's always listening to it. i really prefers lives that the ordinary-recording-studio albums. there are pretty good.

Riva 02-15-2005 03:27 AM

You'd be suprised at the comeback Floyd is making, although they do tend to be mainly posers. :-/

clown_phobia 02-15-2005 03:42 AM

Would you guys rather see Roger Waters or Dave Gilmour live?

Riva 02-15-2005 03:44 AM

Dave Gilmour. Definitely. He has aged much better than Waters.

clown_phobia 02-15-2005 03:51 AM

Pink Floyd are so good. I am not overwhelmed by any other band's greatness like I am pink floyd's.

Comfortably numb is probably my favourite song ever.

Riva 02-15-2005 04:04 AM

I am really in love with Goodbye Blue Sky right now. Really in love.

Those videos are fantastic, the live Wish You Were Here is just...zing.

They need to tour again :( I know people said it will never happen, I just want them to, so I could possibly see them.

Or I could buy a DVD, one of the other.

Well for me at least, that's true, in a way. My Dad is a huge fan, and while I was growing up there was usually either a Floyd cd, a Genesis cd, or a Thin Lizzy cd in the player. My dad has good taste...

I'm 19, incidentally.

(LOKI) 02-15-2005 06:29 AM

one of my earliest memories is listning to the vinyl of The Wall and now that I have money to buy the albums I'm a huge fan. I in love with Echoes (track not compliation album) I'm 14

Otherside 02-15-2005 06:43 AM

Besides on the actual website, does anyone have any videos of pink floyd playing? I havn't had any luck on soul seek so far..

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 02-15-2005 09:21 AM

I got into Pink Floyd when I discovered of my dad's DSOTM album on vinyl. I'm 14.

3rdplanet 02-15-2005 12:07 PM

My mom liked Pink Floyd, so I just kinda grew up with it.

Good shizzl'.

guitarded_chuck 02-15-2005 02:54 PM

My Dad likes good music, and I was brought up with some prog bands, like Genesis and Rush, but my parents weren't huge Floyd fans I guess. I really don't know how I got into them. I remember I learned the Comfortably Numb solos, saw the Wall for the first time, and randomly bought Live At Pompeii for $10 all around the same time, and I've been hooked ever since.

DeusExMachina 02-15-2005 03:57 PM

I don't have any on my computer, but you can get live DVD's and bootlegs. They're good stuff.

Does anyone else find it amusing that people love to talk about their age? It's almost like people view it as a badge of pride. "I'm 14 and listen to Pink Floyd, therefore I am cultured and know more than the average 14 year old!" Not an attack on anyone, just an observation.

Broken Arrow 02-15-2005 04:01 PM

Are we remembering how we got into Floyd?

If so, my dad played me the video of "One Of these Days" on DSOT.

DeusExMachina 02-15-2005 04:09 PM

Oh... I guess I should say that. My dad played me an old tape of The Wall.

magicbus 02-15-2005 04:11 PM

I got into Floyd when one of my friends told me to listen to DSOTM, and I loved it. Then I listened to WYWH, and my dad showed me Ummagumma, and then he bought me Meddle on vinyl. I researched and found the rest of the albums myself. But man, the first time I heard DSOTM was amazing.
