Pretty good.I can never play it that clean. How'd you get your voice to have that "telephone" effect?

Don't be such a pessimist. If music is what matters to you the most, then you're going to have to live with the fact that, as an artistic career or hobby, other unrelated issues that also happen to be important will be constantly infringing on your time and musical enjoyment. It takes a sharp and organized mind to balance the time out effectively. Take it from a kid that did not do his homework ever and instead played guitar all the time, and was always trying to reconcile whether math homework mattered since guitar also mattered. :) It's something to live with. Get your work done, dude. And then start balancing.

Dude, go out and get vocal lessons RIGHT NOW. Your voice is PERFECT for this kind of stuff, and if you could just get it trained for intonation and projection, it'll kick ***. You have a very pleasent timbre to your voice but it's hampered by the improper intonation on the higher notes and also the shyness with which you sing. I'm serious, man. If you get that voice into shape, it'll rock.

And the acoustic sounds great. Very cleanly played. I'm quite impressed, my friend. :thumb:

relliK 05-28-2005 07:53 PM

Haha, I didnt say it was a bad thing.I love the fact that music is such a big part of my life.I'd go crazy without it.I drive like an ******* when I dont have a cd in my cd player.

I plan to just put some headphones on and start working, it passes by way quicker.

relliK 05-28-2005 07:55 PM

I can't play the intro riff of The Drapery Falls. My short "sausage link" fingers wont allow that to go down.

Deth 05-28-2005 07:55 PM

We should do what they are doing in the Metallica thread and do an MX cover of an Opeth track.

RouteOne 05-28-2005 07:59 PM

I say we all cover Black rose immortal. I'm sure we can get it all down in a few days. :D

Deth 05-28-2005 08:01 PM

psssttt...few hours, tops.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my "first act" guitar I picked up at walmart for $75 will be sufficiant for lead guitar.

Deth 05-28-2005 08:05 PM

Sure, Wal-Mart makes great quality products.

It would be cool if we could do a cover though.

heh, just to clear things up, I don't even own a guitar.....going to soon though.

It would take a loonngggg time to do a cover Of Black rose immortal though, but the fruits of our labor would be spectacular.

Deth 05-28-2005 08:08 PM

All of the other offical threads would bow down to the mighty Opeth thread.

The Drapery Falls or maybe Demon Of The Fall would be better choices though.

Hmm....how about Harvest?

Deth 05-28-2005 08:13 PM

We need a song with growling...duh.

RouteOne 05-28-2005 08:15 PM

The Funeral Portrait?

relliK 05-28-2005 08:15 PM

But who can do Mikael's growls justice?

I can...............................for about 4 seconds.

Kaiwaz 05-28-2005 08:17 PM

Me too...then I pass out.

Deth 05-28-2005 08:17 PM

My growling has gotten a lot better lately, but I can only go about a verse.

I'm sure someone here can do it.

Goodnight everyone, I'm tired.

RouteOne 05-28-2005 08:21 PM

It's all in the lungs. To get deeper, longer growels, you need to expand them. Jog a lot.

bball_1523 05-28-2005 08:35 PM

I would love to do an opeth cover with you all.

Do any of you have any clips of you playing Opeth tracks or doing growls?

Rothmans 05-28-2005 08:35 PM

I just practiced alot when it came to growls someone told me to sing with your stomach not with your throat (never knew what it really meant) but for some reason when I kept telling myself that I got a whole lot better.

yes singing is done with the diaphragm around the stomach area.
