 Polka subforum
It's no laughing matter. Just like the Washboard subforum.

Trev 04-01-2006 07:37 AM

Ohhh didn't notice that.

crazyguy832 04-01-2006 10:19 AM

Pfft, April Fools Day is overrated.

spirit 04-01-2006 10:29 AM
Pfft, April Fools Day is overrated.
Somebody didn't get any fooling in. Me either. Woke up after noon anyway.

By the way, Jojo says he doesn't use heel-toe as such. Seems to be a sort of variation on the theme. Or he's not even sure himself of how his foot goes. :p

Berk 04-01-2006 10:30 AM

Easter is overrated! Half the people (mostly 13-15) dont know what the hell its for.

spirit 04-01-2006 10:30 AM
Easter is overrated! Half the people (mostly 13-15) dont know what the hell its for.
And the other half don't care?

Berk 04-01-2006 10:34 AM

Meh, Sure...

CasB 04-01-2006 10:38 AM

Easter sucks as well as christmas...all religious bs.

Toe-heel-repeat. But the motion of his foot is the same basic rocking motion as heel-toe.

spirit 04-01-2006 10:44 AM
Toe-heel-repeat. But the motion of his foot is the same basic rocking motion as heel-toe.
To he's got it backwards? So to speak anyway.

crazyguy832 04-01-2006 10:51 AM

Yeah.

spirit 04-01-2006 10:55 AM
Yeah.
I see. So basically, you can, in theory, accomplish Jojo speeds with "regular" heel-toe?

crazyguy832 04-01-2006 10:58 AM

He's still doing heel-toe.

He basically just starts on toe instead of heel.

Here...

http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/jojomayerbasss.html

Watch his foot. It's still the heel-toe motion. He just starts it differently.

spirit 04-01-2006 11:01 AM
He's still doing heel-toe.

I'm learning me some heel toe! On both feet. I presume it's been done, but having two feet capable of excecuting heel toe at blistering speeds could be useful. Then again, maybe not, but it's nice to be able to do it.

crazyguy832 04-01-2006 11:03 AM

Actually, yeah, it's been done. Check Darkslide's vids in my heel-toe lessons.

I know he's put up recordings of him doing 16ths at 300 with it on two feet.

I've tried it, but it's not that easy to keep in good time, so bleh.

Strange Deja Vu

gastery6 04-01-2006 12:31 PM

Anyone else notice the new area on the site, washboard and polka. Whats up with that.

Berk 04-01-2006 12:47 PM

Yeah!!! Its soo cool!!

Berk 04-01-2006 12:48 PM

Who drums for Opeth?

Juicy_Forlorn 04-01-2006 12:52 PM

Martin Lopez drums for Opeth, although they have a different guy with them at the moment for the tour.

As for Dream Theater songs, some of my favourites are:
Home
The Glass Prison
A Change of Seasons
Pull Me Under

There's so many more that I love, but I'm lazy.

Seafroggys 04-01-2006 12:58 PM
