Hearing normal male vocals on "Messenger" is so weird.

perriwinkle 12-29-2007 12:44 AM

i am digging Offline PK because it is a great ****ing song

http://www.acefu.com/MP3s/Pinback-OfflinePk.mp3

Anxious 12-29-2007 12:49 AM

Dude they suck, and when they come play by me soon I'm probably going to drive down there and piss on them.

perriwinkle 12-29-2007 12:57 AM

alright look their new cd sort of sucks yes

it is very much disappointing because it sounds and seems like they changed labels to some major label and are selling out but they didnt even change labels so i really dont know why it sounds like crap

but i really do think all their other stuff is interesting, good stuff

they really don't even sound like an average indie pop rock band which is obviously why i think they are particularly good. but that is what everybody says about them and i think if these people gave a full album a few listens they might see what i and others see in them. the layering of melodies, the double vocals, it's all about the syncopation and counterpoint in everything. and the minimalistic songs like byzantine are so great, like if you listen to it, just give me any band that sounds like that, or ever has, just one. but if that's not what you have to say about them tell me what you think

Thanks 12-29-2007 12:57 AM

The fact that a lot of my friends love Rob Crow almost as much as perri makes me kind of want to disown them. (but not really)

oh thank you

Thanks 12-29-2007 01:00 AM

Because I mean even heavy vegetable sucks, and compared to his other bands, they're incredible.

perriwinkle 12-29-2007 01:05 AM

i guess... i would probably say the top 3 rob crow projects are pinback, other men, then heavy vegetable. i dont imagine you ahve listened to other men because nobody has even though i try to get people to, because that is a very different sound than anything he's done and it is pretty great. and thingy is pretty much teh same band as heavy vegetable but a little bit less interesting/funny.. um rob crow solo is okay stuff.. not really that great, like his last solo cd was very meh. goblin **** is really cool though i enjoy that. pretty much a gimmick though which is all it is meant to be, but they have some cool rhythms / riffs in it, like it's really just the structure of all his songs and his sense of melody that makes me enjoy his stuff

ic ant think of any other of his bands. well theres a bunch of old punk/hardcore bands like fantasy mission force and altron tube and the alpha males but meh

asdf 12-29-2007 03:50 AM

You should send me Other Men, seeing as I've never heard of it.

Rob Crow does so much, I can't keep up, nor do I really make an effort to.

Kyle 12-29-2007 06:51 AM

I've listened to the Other Men album quite a bit, it's pretty good but I can't get too enthusiastic about it. Same goes for most Rob Crow stuff really, with the possible exception of Summer in Abaddon which I'm pretty fond of.

I'm not sure I like Joy Division enough for that to really appeal to me. I may check it out just for shits.
