My Dad has quite a few rare records. Many original prints, and some with "direct to the master disc" recording. It's like CD quality on vinyl.

doorsofperception420 05-19-2005 07:06 PM

It's not really popular

Dude, everyone's whipped out their tye-die shirts and say they love zeppelin and the who, but when questioned on their favorite zeppeling song or who song, it's always the same.. Stairway to Heaven.. or Pinball Wizard, undoubtedly good songs, but there are few people our age who truly appreciate the music. It's become a fad, vintage is popular. Jeans are sold with pre-made holes.. everyone's just trying to be cool. But by the end of the day, they'll all be on to the next big thing, and we'll be left enjoying the truly brilliant music they pretended to love.

Today I got The Rolling Stones-Their Satanic Majesties Request, and so far it is pretty kickass.

Country rock along the lines of what?

lunch998 05-19-2005 07:21 PM

It would be nice if new people here just slid themselves into the conversation at some point. But oh well, this one is a lot better than others we've dealt with in the past.

haha.. and by the way I'm a chick.

Woodstock 05-19-2005 07:27 PM

Your AIM name, did you get it from a Jeff Beck song?

(Say yes, so everyone will like you even more)

Ya, okay and I'm a calf. Anyways tell us a little about yourself, what you like, been to any good conerts lately...
Hey, what happened to your join date?

That's RNR's. I originally joined as Moon349, and had the date May 2003. I was then banned and picked up Badmoon during Dec 2003. I then had the date switched back.
Country rock along the lines of what?
The good stuff ;)

Actually the bands I am posting are originally Country Rock (except there's a Bluegrass and Reggae artist), but the songs are not necessarily completely Country Rock.

If that makes sense.

I actually made it when I was like.. 12 and it was after the Radiohead song, but later I found it in a Jeff Beck song, so that's why I kept it.

Ya I gotcha, I was just making sure it wasn't shania twain or anything (not that I'd expect that from you).

That's Pop-Country. And I'm not posting any Pop-Country.

That's a good answer. What are some of your favorite non-generic classic rock bands?

RockAndRoll 05-19-2005 07:34 PM

 I know I wasn't actually expecting you to post anything even remotely similiar to Shania Twain. I was just wondering your definition of Country rock as it seems to me everyone has a different one. Personally I'd call it like eagles, skynyrd typish.

Badmoon 05-19-2005 07:37 PM
eagles, skynyrd typish
My stuff's better, but yeah. :p

The Eagles - Take it Easy

That's a good song.

It is I laughed the first time I noticed the banjo though.

Anyways I'm out I'll check your stuff later.

Badmoon 05-19-2005 07:41 PM

Calexico - Convict Pool

Not as Country Alt./Mariachi as a lot of there other stuff is. However, it is definitely more emotion.

http://s51.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0IT9JGAZYA1UR1LAPNBSKQUCNV

Yonder Mountain String Band - Left Me in a Hole

Here is a Bluegrass Jam Band that has always had a Pop side. This is possibly my favorite song by them; I really like the writing.

http://s51.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1CV75BRHJRY7O319F208LFEUVD

Jerry Garcia - The Wheel

http://s50.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=25MMKVGLSBOOF2QDJ4SKARKJOL

Quite a known song to Grateful Dead fans. "The Wheel" came off of Jerry's first solo album, but of course was played by the Dead a bunch. The mellow vibe and opening guitar solo is great.

Uncle Tupelo - No Depression

Here is the definitive Country Alternative band. They came out of my cousin's town in Belleville, Illinois and are just fantastic. However, their Alternative sound isn't really showcased here; this is a Carter Family song.

http://s50.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0U9NJFYZL177M1YF04OHS2ASKZ

Wilco - The Late Greats

A great band from Chicago that is quite well known these days. Wilco is actually made up of a couple of important members of Wilco. In their early days, they played some great Country Alt., but slowly strayed away from it. This tune is from their latest album. Though is may not be completely County-Rock, I like it none the less.

-----------------------------------------
Jimmy Cliff - The Harded They Come

Jimmy Cliff owns. This song is off of the great soundtrack ever, and his greatest album. This tune was also covered by the Jerry Garcia Band quite a lot.

A lot of the Eagles pre-Hotel California stuff like that is great relaxing country rock. Hotel California is good too, just in different ways.

You're clever aren't you? ;) Anyway, I'm 16, my name's Lindsay, I play bass. My dad got me into the good stuff.. he's a big Zeppelin fan so I followed in his footsteps, I guess. I've really gotten into Steppenwolf lately.. I love Joplin. I recently got back from Paris where I visited Jim's grave which was extremely kickass. Paris in general was amazing, I had a good time with the whole no drinking age scenario.. but yeah I don't really know what else to say.
