I thought about going, but 11AM was too early....i'll expect a full album review up somewhere on the net at 1pm, maybe even a leak by 2.
|
I'm betting its tool AFD pranking, i doubt that the band members would be in all different places so close to the album dropping when there is interviews/promo band shots to be done. Furthermore 3/4 of the band was in australia at the start of March to do promo work so why would 1 member come back here when there is no reason for them to?
|
Im waiting to hear from someone who did go, just so I can find out what was planned out there as the joke. So far, no news, maybe 500 people are too embarassed to admit they fell for it.
(then of course, if there's 500 people in a trance like state from hearing the album, then ill be eating my words) |
I don't think Tool are that big of dicks to actually make people come out to some venue to listen to an album and then never show. But then again, these are also the people that started the rumor that they died in a bus crash. So, who knows? If this is real (which I personally think it is), expect a review up today.

The truth has been revealed. |
Thats funny. Then when seeing mx had posted it, it went up a lol level, due to unexpectedness. :)
Someone pointed out to me that the original title of the news release was either an anagram, or each beginning letter, of April Fools. Still no prank from toolband yet though. |
Lol! That was hilarious. Track 7 - Oom-pah! Hmm... what will the April Fool's be?
|
This band is so boring.
|
**** off.

Good April fools joke. |
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Toolshed thing was a joke, though a very mean one.
|
****. I just skipped the SAT to drive to Seattle just to see if there was a flight to LA that I could hop onto at the last second.
****. What the hell was I even thinking? ****. I just wasted 60 dollars on gas for nothing. Dammit. And I missed the SAT. At least there was no actual showing/listening, right? PS: Good thing there was no vacant flights, heh. |

For your sake, I hope you're joking. That sucks man. |

Yeah, I went to Seattle, and I didn't even say hi to Madey. Now what to tell my parents when they realize that they haven't seen my SAT results... :-/ |
They can't see them if you didn't take them, brutha.
|
Yeah, MJK, that's the point.
Yeah, I went to Seattle, and I didn't even say hi to Madey. Now what to tell my parents when they realize that they haven't seen my SAT results... :-/
Yeah, i sat through my SAT's (that was lame, sorry) this morning. GOD, it was a long 4 hours. |
They can't see them if you didn't take them, brutha.
Therein lies the problem. They think I did, so yeah. |
Yeah, the SATs blow. The new ones are even worse because they have the essay added to them.
I got in the 1800s all 3 times I took it (over 1200 all 3 times using the 'Old School' scores, discarding the essay). |
You guys should try the GRE. Makes taking the SAT feel like a walk around the park, honestly.
To put it simply: it makes the baby Jesus cry. |
Yeah, there's always next time, I guess.
Ted- Is that supposed to be incentive to make me want to take this GRE? PS: What does it do anyways? |

I was supposed to take the SAT today but I had work so that was a bitch. How long is that test again? |
Did you got to the Private listening thing in New york Yesterday?
Nope. I didn't get up until like 1030 anyway. I think it was an April Fool's joke by the toolshed.down.net owner named Kabir. Personally, I think it was a dick thing to do because I'm sure people actually went to check it out and as far as I know, it was fake...or was it? |
I don't think it was real, actually.
BTW, that YTMND is great.
Well, it's almost time for the LA listening party to start, and a lot of people have written in about the first three already. I'll get those emails up soon, but suffice it to say that everyone was pretty thrilled. Toolfan48 writes: "Hey Kabir - i saw the post yesterday night and i thought ok obviously this is just this years April fools joke, especially when i called the venue and they said nothing was happening. so i cracked up thinking about all these kids lining up outside irving plaza on a saturday morning. but i live about three blocks from there, so i figured i'd roll by to maybe take some pics for tdn of the people who showed up. there weren't that many people there at first (like 10am), but there was a security guard there, which was our first hint that something was up. i figured they got him just to deal with any angry crowd that showed up, but he said he was there with Tool! by 1030 there were probably like 100 kids who had just rolled by, as they all said, just to make sure. and would you believe it?? the doors opened right after 11, and justin himself comes out!! he was totally shocked that there wasn't a huge crowd -- seems a lot of people 'believed in nothing' -- but was like 'whatever' and then we all went inside!!!" Most of this morning's emails are like this. Did you all really think this was an April Fool's joke? Zavlin (a member of the Opinion forums) noticed that the headline of yesterday's news post acronymizes to "F()OL LP", but I assure you, that is just a crazy coincidence. The real significance of yesterday's headline, however, remains to be discovered. § |

Ted- Is that supposed to be incentive to make me want to take this GRE? PS: What does it do anyways?
No, the amount of more money you would theoretically make with a Master's or PHD would be the incentive. GRE is basically the SAT, but for getting into Graduate schools. It's not actually that much more advanced than the SAT, but the grading system is beyond hellacious. You start out with a simple question (or, to be more accurate, what the people who designed the test consider "simple). If you get it correct, you are asked a more difficult one...if you get it wrong, you are asked a simpler one. The computer centers in on your score based on the difficulty of questions asked, becoming more precise with each question. What this means is that if you just happen to get any of the first 5 or 6 questions wrong, your score is completely shot, regardless of how you do on the rest of the test. In other words, it blows. |
...so were the listening parties real, or not?
