this is a piece from today's update at Toolband.com:
And speaking of stiff, because it will be their last show in Hollywood for a while, I should remind you that VOLTO! will be performing on the main stage at the KNITTING FACTORY tomorrow night (Friday, March 31). According to the pride of Huston, TX (a city I’m beginning to appreciate more these days for reasons I’m still trying to put my finger on), after the Knitting Factory show, JZ and the boys will be drinking those big kamikazes one last time at the LA VE LEE in April (TBA) before Danny starts rehearsals with his other band in preparation for their much anticipated appearance at COACHELLA (APRIL 30) and any other gigs they might decide to do prior to leaving for Europe in early May.
Small club tour perhaps? Something similar to what NIN did right before/after the release of With Teeth? I recently read on toolnavy from some guy that he had been informed about a supposed May 8th show in Dallas, Tx...of course, I did read this on toolnavy which is where most rumors seem to originate from...but it'd be quite awesome if they did come down to Texas before leaving! And well, there is mention of (for some reason) appreciating Huston (houston?) in today's post...

*really hopes U.S. gets a some sort of tour*

Esoteric_Creator 03-30-2006 06:24 PM

Holy Sh*t!!

I'm in Houston! They may be in Houston! This could be the best damned May ever!!

:wets self:

That would kick arse if the band does a mini tour in the US. It's no fair Europe gets the first taste of Tool goodness..

misunderstood 03-30-2006 06:36 PM

^I'm from Houston as well! (though I go to school in Austin) I'm already starting to think of excuses to give my professors for why it is i must take my final exams early! Heh, of course, assuming this does happen. I need to go home a.s.a.p. in May.

clearvision 03-31-2006 10:42 AM

My panic! at the disco tickets were dispatched today :-/

And the college made an error on my exam entry for the 14th june....i have to pay £10 on top of the £30 i already payed :( £40 for an exam that's stopping me from seeing tool. And it should have only cost me £15 :(

Adam Jones is GOD 03-31-2006 11:17 AM

Where you seeing Panic at Rob? I've got a friend who's stalking all their UK dates.

And my condolences for all the crap preventing your seeing Tool, as for anyone else who cant go. rest assured, if we can get my friends digi camera in, ill be posting the results here

Darkness 03-31-2006 11:55 AM

Aren't they exactly like Fallout boy? That's what I've heard anyway...

Sixty Ton Angel 03-31-2006 11:59 AM

Panic sound more perverted from what I heard, although I did only listen to one song and turned it off after 20 seconds due to embarrasment...

Not that I've listened to much of either band though, just my general impression.

clearvision 03-31-2006 12:10 PM

They are kinda like fall out boy, probably very like fall out boy if you're not into that sorta music i suppose. They are just fun to listen to, as are FOB. I'm not bothered about the whole scene thing, i was listening to them way before any of that stuff really started cropping up, i didn't know what they looked like how they were gonna present themselves etc. The concerts are cool, me and my mates get drunk, sing along to all the words and make fun of all the little girls in the crowd

People that condemn those bands without listening to much of them are gay. Panic! picked a strange song for the first single imo (i write sins) which hasn't helped their image with alot of people. And fall out boy are just loved by the masses and some people are put off by that :)

I'm seeing them at the astoria on april 24th and fall out boy at brixton on 25th may...:)

Anyone here get a radiohead ticket/try to get a radiohead ticket?

Darkness 03-31-2006 12:39 PM

Guys, I think you need to see this...

"[03/31/06] - It's Four (4) Open & Loud Listening Parties!

Suddenly got a whole flurry of emails this morning, seems everyone got wind of this before we even woke up today; sorry we fell behind. Seems as part of Tool's global promotional tour for the upcoming record "10,000 Days", they are giving fans a one-time chance to hear the record exactly 31 days before its US release - which is tomorrow! A press release quotes the band as saying:

"With the four of us scattered across the world, this seemed a great opportunity to let our fans worldwide participate in something special. Tomorrow, in Sydney, London, New York, and Los Angeles, at 11 AM local time in each city, one of us will be on hand to play the album for the first 500 fans to arrive at the venue. No questions, no autographs, no cameras, no cellphones - just the music. We're sorry for the short notice, but we wanted to try to keep the media out and our diehard fans in."

The venues listed at the bottom of the press release are Space (Sydney), The Mean Fiddler (London), Irving Plaza (NY), The Avalon (LA). So it sounds like they're going to just show up, hit play, and sit quietly until it's over. No word yet on who will be at which session, but it seems likely that since Adam has been working on the music video, he will be running the LA session. Perhaps Justin will be in London? As more info comes in, we'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, this could be the lucky break you were waiting for - and maybe I'll see you at the LA venue! §

Anyone in these locations?

Adam Jones is GOD 03-31-2006 01:57 PM

If only it was easy to get to London on short notice. Sounds like a great idea, and im sure at least 1 person will comment on the London one.

Of course, im also looking at the calendar and seeing April 1st tommorrow. :) Wonder how they'll swindle them (500 people turning up to hear Green Day or something would be great)

JamJar 03-31-2006 02:08 PM

I could probably get to London somehow... but for 11AM? I really want to go but as you said April Fools.

From Blabbermouth:
Rumored TOOL U.S. Dates Leaking Out - Mar. 31, 2006

Launch Radio Networks reports: Sources have told Launch that TOOL is booking two concert dates in New York City for late May, with the dates and exact venue yet to be announced. The group is also rumored to be hitting several other cities that same month, including Seattle and Oakland. These shows will follow TOOL's April 30 headlining performance at the Coachella festival in Indio, California, which will be the band's first live appearance in the U.S. since 2002.

The group has also mapped out a European tour that extends from the end of May until mid-July, with full North American plans yet to be unveiled.
Esoteric_Creator 03-31-2006 03:10 PM

F U C K !!

I'm nowhere around any of these places..!

Yet, tomorrow *is* April Fools, so this can mean two things: 1.) 2,000 people are going to be really pissed with a few hundred more wondering why, or 2.) this *does* go down and a few hundred are going to be pissed..

Either way, a few hundred fans are going to be pissed..

Prince of Darkness 03-31-2006 03:16 PM

That is funny. It's most probably the April Fools joke.

But certainly not the full prank...I mean, it's not THAT good.

got tool? 03-31-2006 03:47 PM

maybe they'll show an educational video on L. Ron Hubbard

YouGottaBeCrazy 03-31-2006 04:00 PM

I can get to Irving Plaza with ease. However, I find it very odd that they'd schedule it for April Fool's Day. I really don't know what to think. A lot of people think that there's going to be some AFD joke concerning the new album and its name, tracklist, artwork, etc. Of course, no one really knows for sure. The fact that this listening party thing is on AFD really sticks out to me. Maybe, it's their way of sticking it to the skeptical fans who think they are gonna' do another prank this year. I really hope this listening party thing is true. I'm not going to go, but I think it's a really nice idea to let some people hear the album a month early. It'd be a kind little gesture after the long wait since Lateralus.

Shadius 03-31-2006 04:02 PM

I don't think they'd fully diss their fans like that and not show the album. They'd give them something to make it worth their while.

Maybe they're going to let them hear the album, then either feed them some false information about it, OR reveal to them something that we don't know.

please go...no matter what, SOMETHING is gonna happen. It could be the greatest thing ever(the album listening party), or it could be Maynard saying: " sorry pal, Justin's dead, no album." that would be just as good! You can't lose. please go if it's that easy.:thumb:
