Yer liek every tool song is SOOO deep and meeningful, it blows my mind! Liek that song useful idiot works on SOOO many levels, and hooker with a penis is really a metaphor for liek the heart chakra's manifestation in the form of a phallus...which HAS to be true cause i red it in some tool forum. :smash:
Never once have I implied that that's how I take their music. I'm not trying to say that they are all masterpieces which hold the secrets to the ****ing universe, like some Tool fans would probably like to believe. Tool mostly makes serious, meaningful music, some people take it a little to far, but that ain't me, I can see the humor in their music (i.e. Disgustipated, Maynards Dick) so maybe you should just settle down a little bit.:thumb: |
That's why I couldn't give any specifics in actual titles. All I remember is that the two discs were (I suppose) 10,000days and Aldaraia. The tracklistings were split in two because of the sub-tracks..
I have heard a rumor today that this may actually happen...weird. But it's a rumor, nothing more. 10,000days being the DVD, and Aldaraia being the album.. Who knows..? :shrugs:
how much more must tool prove to your that the album is 10000days and the tracklist is not a joke. |
Hey, guys...I've been doing some composing lately if you want to check it out. Right now it's all orchestral/symphonic music, but Tool is one of my biggest influences musically, so you can kinda hear that in the music. I also have some plans for incorporating guitars, drums and bass into it for a sort of symphonic metal sound. [/shameless self-promotion ;) ]
The first song, "Paean," is done, but I've only just started fleshing out the second one (untitled so far). Check it out! http://www.myspace.com/TedPinson http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=501637 |
That's all on MIDI right? That wouldn't happen to be from Finale when I uploaded it, would it?
Cool stuff. I added you for my band, Spindrift. |

Some sort of music software? |
Thanks alot!!
Yep, it's all MIDI exported from Finale. That has been the best way that I've found to produce big works like this, and it's a really great program for composing. Plus, if I ever find anyone who's willing to perform/record this stuff, I'll have sheet music that I can give them. ;)
How'd you do all that? Some sort of music software?
The aforementioned Finale program. Basically, you pick your instruments, key, and time signature, and it pops up a giant group of blank orchestral score pages. You then fill in the notes, either by clicking on the staff or by using a MIDI input like a keyboard. Finale can then read the music and play it back for you, and you can export the playback to .wav or .mp3. |
Is it from the Daily Upload?
I've been addicted to Finale ever since I got it. You've got some good ideas going on, you should get a composition teacher. It's like you come in with one little thing and you come out with a huge grand composition. http://www.myspace.com/spindrift000 My band, I've got a preview of a song on there which was done with Finale. |
Sounds kind of like Sibelius. I tried it once, but it was very difficult to use, so I abandoned it quickly. I'll have to look into Finale.
|
Finale is wayyy easier.
|
^ Yeah me to. Sounds like a good program.
|
Heh...yeah, Finale is somewhat of a pain to use too, sometimes. Once you start getting the hang of it, it starts getting really addicting, though.
Is it from the Daily Upload?
Actually, I think I got it off of Emule.
I've been addicted to Finale ever since I got it.
Yeah, me too. :)
You've got some good ideas going on, you should get a composition teacher. There's so much I still need to learn about arrangements...hell, even about instruments. Example: what the hell is a viola d'amor?
http://www.myspace.com/spindrift000 My band, I've got a preview of a song on there which was done with Finale.
I assume that you're Nojus? :) I dig the MIDI track alot...pretty crazy stuff. The recording on Bleeding Persistence is pretty rough, but it's a cool song. The piano break rules. Is that a picture of Vlad the Impaler? |
Yeah, I'm Nojus. It's out now, only a few people on MX knew my name before. Thanks for the comments on our music. And yes that is Vlad the Impaler, I'm thinking about doing a concept album on him.

lol i didnt even read your posts, nor did i mention your name or quote you in my post. I was just randomly lampooning the stereotypical tool fan. Looks like it struck you pretty close to home because you have gotten awfully defensive over it. :amaze: |

What a coincidence, you just happened to say that right after my post about song meanings, which is why I figured you were directing your sarcasm at my post above you. Just a big misunderstanding I guess. |
Anyone expecting another april fools prank?
I still have my fingers crossed that the tracklist+album title IS the April fools prank. |
Your in some good bands man! Nice to see multi instrumentalist too
Yeah, I try. Spindrift got another guitarist and he's really extroverted and somewhat annoying but he's really good at guitar. I'm not sure how long that will keep going. |
I still have my fingers crossed that the tracklist+album title IS the April fools prank.
Nah, it is all real. But it is only for the mini... Which Is why I think the mini is actually part of the artwork. But only a small section. |
guys, if there is truth to be revealed, it's going to be revealed on the 1st of April. That's Saturday.
/Goosebumps Could it be possible for a double album? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EPFPVU/qid=1143204977/sr=1-32/ref=sr_1_32/002-5029764-2067260?s=music&v=glance&n=5174 What's this? |
^^ Amazon.com smoking crack.
|
An album mini is a representation of the entire front cover. If Tool are telling the truth about that album mini, which I don't think they are, then that IS the front cover. Look on amazon, or whatever site, and see the album mini's, they show the front covers of the albums.
Anyway... Interesting price for the new album... I don't think a double album is going to be released though, though it would be an awesome suprise. If a double album was in the works, they would likely have shown the whole thing at the previews. There's nothing really suggesting that they made a double album. Can't wait for April fools though... |
Its going to have to be a big April Fools this year, as so far i've believed nothing this year, or at least doubted everything.
Lets see who buys the lie first, and then watch all the websites jump on it |
I hope MTV gets pegged again, simply because I can't stand that channel..
And while their at it, Rolling Stone.. ...And then I want to hear the laments of their women and children.. j/k Just the women.. |
I want it to make Kerrang! front page or somethig...so they look like the tools (intended) that they are.
|
To be fair though, when a band releases some information, you expect it to be real. Granted, with Tool everything is a bit iffy, but 'official' information is still that. If I worked for a magazine or whatever, i'd report what they'd said, while carrying over some personal disbelief and cynicism at the album title/art/tracks.
