Yep. Haven't been able to listen to the album in its entirety in one sitting...I'll give it another try eventually. Wasn't bad, just generally wasn't really catching my interest all that much except for several parts.

Black metal should be about the worship of plague, death, and depopulation. That was the idea originally behind this release. We never expected anyone to notice or care about us, we just did it because we were possessed to. This was in 1997, when we were young and "USBM" wasn't a ****ing catch phrase.

This recording was almost 100% improvised by myself and mr Soth. Because of this we were never understood by the outside, really. This made us proud because we knew that we had done the correct work.

Now it is several years later and we have returned to this work, the original recording of Krieg. Soth has long since journeyed towards his vortex of solitude and I am the only "original" member left standing. Personally I hate this recording and I hope you do too. Because that is what black metal stands for, hatred. Also included is the cover version of "Enlightened Ones" by Havohej. Paul hated this song but I have found endless value in it....

This work is dedicated to the true purveyors of black metal: Paul Ledney, Akhenaten, Nuclear Holocausto, Magus Munkir and the gentlemen of Archgoat (wherever they may be).

Krieg sucks.

Dimmu Borgir are fairly cool all the way up until and including Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. especially the two first albums.

For All Tid is passable, they suck balls for the most part.

For All Tid is definitely a cut above the rest, but (the original version of) Stormblåst is enjoyable. so are the next three albums, despite not being typical black metal, more resembling really pretentious pop music in some aspects.

idk if I would go that far

sort of sounds like mush at times (the problem with all Emperor albums for me) but I found the technical riffery and bluesy leads impressive

I dig Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, not as a black metal album since it's not really black metal at all but it's still a fun listen.

For All Tid and Stormblast are subpar Emperor worship

Nightside is okay I guess. Thinking back on it now, it does have Inno a Satana.

I can't let Dimmu slide by with anything though. They went from being incredibly boring and generic to incredibly gay and stupid.

and Fagraths vocals are among the worst in the genre.
