Huber 07-19-2005 12:11 PM

Me too. I've always wanted to hear/see that stuff

Schecterguitarist 07-19-2005 12:13 PM

you know wut rly pissed me off, was that VH1 special on best and worst moments in metal...idk if anyone saw it but metallica was mentioned only once in the best moments and like 10 in the worst. They sed that wen they cut their hair they threw away metal but who gives a f**k about hair!!! I dont, as long as i can feel the music and they sure as hell kept makin great music after that, Hero of the Day, Bleeding Me, The Unforgiven 2....that really pissed me off.
idk about this but is it tru that hardcore fans hate metallica??(people who listen to norma jean, the chariot, the number 12 looks like you) cuz i like harcdore but metallica is and always will be my favorite band>METAL UP UR A*S

hethamulburton 07-19-2005 12:18 PM

"Hair gets in the way, and when beer gets in it, it stinks for long time" - My uncle Kenny.

Jev 07-19-2005 12:29 PM

What so VH1 basically said that wehn they cut their hair they lost all talent?

hethamulburton 07-19-2005 12:46 PM

That's about it.

They lost their talent when they fired Mustaine.

Hopefully that will start something, get this thread alive again

Huber 07-19-2005 12:49 PM

Not really. It just isn't very Metal to cut your long hair off. They never said they got worse.

Is there anyone would would have actually prefered mustaine to have stayed in metallica??

I kinda divided on it, i would have loved to see what happened with him still in the band, although there would be no megadeth if he stayed in, and megadeth = :thumb:

Chu 07-19-2005 01:15 PM

Yeah true, I'm very glad he went on and formed Megadeth.
But at the same time, his and Hetfield's writing style is so good, if they stayed togetyher for at least 1 more album (Whether you consider Kill 'em All his album or not I guess) I think they could have done some awesome things.

Edit: Oh, and I prefer Mustaine to Hammett, although Hammett wrote some amazing solos on Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets... If he could still write like that, oh my god.

Father_Jack 07-19-2005 01:19 PM

Yeah, I mean hetfield wrote most of metallicas most memorable cool riffs, and dave can write great riffs, but then again niether of them two can solo like Hammett or Friedman do/did in each thier bands.

Chu 07-19-2005 01:25 PM

I'm sure Mustaine could play most of Marty's solos?
And vise versa for Hetfield, he's quite talented, it really wouldn't surprise me.

Oh yeah, i really like Hetfields slow solos, i prefer the solo MOP solo to the faster one.

As for mustaine, theres no doubt he can PLAY all the solos that Friedman wrote, but could he ever WRITE anything like the Tornado of Souls solo. Its kinda confusing, becuase on The System has Failed, i dont like Mustaines solo work at all, but the dual solo at the end of Hangar 18, both mustaines and Friedmans solos are killer. I suppose we will never know what the Hetfield-Mustaine partnership would've been like as they got older.

fatbandit 07-19-2005 01:29 PM

Flower Dance - is that concert currently uploading to YSI now?

Oh yeah, I bet Dave could play all of Marty's solos. Dave is a incrdible guitarist. IDK about James playing kirks though, maybe. I've never really heard him play lead before besides MOP and NEM and a couple of others.

Schecterguitarist 07-19-2005 01:44 PM

I wish that Hetfield and Ulrich had never kicked Musatine out. They sed that he was rly rly violent and that he broke some guys leg at a bar cuz another guy was yellin at Lars(they were obviously drunk). Mustaine wrote the main rif from the call of Ktulu too, the melodic intro riff that the whole song is based on, thats one of the reasons i like him mor than hammet becuz he could contribute mor to the rythm guitar than hammet. If anyone was wondering, i read in my So What Book that Mustaine broke a guys leg, next morning they woke him up and told him to pack his bags

Is that true? I never really new why they kicked him out. I always thought it was to do with his playing not being up to scratch, you know on S.M.O.M in the theropy session, mustaine says something like "when you guys kicked me out i always felt like it was a way of saying that i wasn't good enough for you guys anymore".

Huber 07-19-2005 01:49 PM

Mustaine wrote tons of stuff for Metallica, not just Call Of Ktulu.

I'm glad they kicked him out, they would have ended up breaking up sometime after MoP or something, and Metallica would have been much different. I'm happy with Megadeth and Metallica, rather than just one band that might have just sounded like Megadeth anyways.

No, they kicked him out a day after he assaulted James (he was on drugs), and figure his drugs problems would keep causing those problems and kicked him out, no warning. Woke up one day and was sent home on a bus.

Chu 07-19-2005 01:55 PM

What do you guys think about the riff from Leper Messiah?
Mustaine or not?

He did write Call of Ktulu, well he did come up with the chord progression that it uses, coz he uses the exact same chords on Hangar 18.

Thats pretty harsh just kicking him out with no warning. But, yeah i prefer it as metallica and megadeth, both 2 of my favourite bands

I didn't say he didn't write anything for Call of Ktulu.

Mustaine wrote some of the solos on RTL: Call of Ktulu, Ride The Lightning.
Hammet was featured from Fade To Black, Trapped Under Ice and Creeping Death.
Hetfield wrote solos for Fight Fire With Fire and For Whom The Bell Tolls and Escape.
I'm getting this off their site, so it's factual.
Hetfield played all the harmonized leads, so he technically already has played many of the solos, like Four Horsemen, first solo.

Mustaine influence ends after RTL, MOP was straight Hethamulburton.

Fingers crossed that this works and that i didn't spend 2 hours uploading fúck all
