Nujabes - Metaphorical Music + Modal Soul
Fink - Biscuits for Breakfast Minus The Bear - This Is What I Know About Being Gigantic Nujabes has got to be one of the biggest talents I've heard in a long long time. What's holding him back from being recognized? Needs more reviews on this site methinks. |
I'm with mr_jackalope, that Panda Bear album is the piecest of shit ever. Not that he dislikes it that much, but I do.
Fleetwood Mac - Tusk Savage Republic - Ceremonial Jorge Ben - Africa Brasil |
I haven't read anything about Person Pitch yet, but I'm sure the backlash will be appropriate. "Take Pills," "Bros" and "Ponytail" are all fantastic, I could probably leave the rest, though.
Currently listening to Those Were Different Times: Cleveland 1972-1976. Kinda neat, I've always wondered about these bands (Mirrors, Styrenes, Electric Eels), saw this in the used record store so I picked this up on the cheap. The packaging is kinda neat, songs are pretty lo-fi recordings. |

Insik Sate - Promotionless Shame
The Shins - Chutes too Narrow Shins album is good, much better than I thought it would be. |
Ghostface Killah -More Fish
How does that compare to Fishscale?
this album usez so many z's youd think 2pac waz sleepin
Haha, true. Good album but Me Against The World is better. |
Teenage Fanclub seems neat, but I've only heard "Star Sign" so far. what album is needed??
Bandwagonesque
They Might Be Giants - Flood Must... get... Lincoln...
get it because it's a much stronger album. |
Teenage Fanclub fucking sucks.
Momus - Ping Pong The Van Pelt - Sultans of Sentiment Jorge Ben & Gilberto Gil - Gil e Jorge Momus is uh, yeah. The others are good. |
Both More Fish and All Eyez On Me suck terribly.
your attitude sucks terribly tbh RZA - Bobby Digital in Stereo here is an album that sucks terribly and i've wasted time on today
How does that compare to Fishscale?
Not as good, especially since Ghost employs his Theodore Unit for almost all guest raps, but still has some banging tracks. |
I've been interested in this for a while, how is it?
Intense as hell, for one thing. The rhythm's are all over the place and disonnance takes a big part. For being a half an hour, it's pretty rivetting the entire way through--it seems to work like a series of two long, tumultuous crescendos that have some amazing climaxes. I can see why it caused riots on its premier. |
brb, time to revisit Deceit and see if it's any better.
Jorge Ben & Gilberto Gil - Gil e Jorge
Shit is so raw and loose. I love Jorge's voice. Went out and wandered around for a while, listened to some of the new stuff I bought today. The Flamin' Groovies' Shake Some Action is good stuff, I bought it on the strength of the title track, which is this rad kinda power pop number. The rest is 60's British Invasion blues rock with hints of dirtbag punk. Worth checking out. |
Battles - Mirrored
|
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
An absolute classic! |
The Cars - The Cars
So good. |
Battles - Mirrored
How's this? |
Good. They added vocals which makes it different but not in a bad way.
|
Ben Kweller - Sha Sha
|
I listened to a lot of post rock/electronica/instrumental music today because I was (supposed to be) studying:
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells Explosions in the Sky - The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children Talk Talk - Laughing Stock Tangerine Dream - Phaedra Tortoise - TNT And now playing: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven. Didn't get much studying done though. |
Sibylle Baier - Colour Green
|
Converge
Beethoven Mastodon Al Green Every song I've heard from Petitioning The Empty Sky so far (I don't have the actual album just downloaded a few songs) has been amazing. I can't seem to get into songs I've got from Jane Doe though, try as I might. Been digging Al Green alot today, figuring out which one of his albums to buy first is a bitch. |
El-P - Fantastic Damage
