That's my favorite track off of 'California'.

I've been really getting in to Tub Ring a lot lately. At first I didn't think I'd like them to much, but once I got through several of their songs, I've gotten hooked.

NineBitFable 02-03-2005 07:37 PM

into Swervedriver and a band called Singapore Sling... Pretty good stuff.

'Tis a good song indeed. You should try "None of them knew they were robots..." and "Goodbye Sober Day" off of the same album for pure awesomeness.

I am listening to As Tall As Lions.

Grrreat!

3rdplanet 02-04-2005 06:06 PM

After extensive Cursive-a-like research, I have came back with these good bands, who are not a bit like Cursive.

Péle
The Dismemberment Plan
Murder by Death
Brazil
and Minus the Bear

Who I all quite enjoy.

Now I just need money to order CDs.

incubliss 02-04-2005 06:13 PM

Murder by Death are amazing, i absolutely adore them.

i've been digging my Codeseven albums again lately, especially The Rescue and Dancine Echoes / Dead Sounds. love their later sound compared to pre-The Rescue. Danger is still without a doubt, one of my favourite songs ever, and i'm sure 30562171 (the number mod) would agree with me. such a moving song, got me through alot of bad times, and bulls*it, and i'm grateful for it being there.

Iai 02-04-2005 06:16 PM

Just downloaded Want Two by Rufus Wainwright.

Good stuff.

I would say they were the most Cursive-esque of the bands I found, love their range of instruments, and the vocals.

I only have two Mp3s :( , but this will be the first CD I purchase I reckon.

Electrocution 02-04-2005 06:18 PM

Minus The Bear is wunderbar.

They have some nice, upbeat guitar work for post-rock. They're pretty fun to listen to.

Hm, I'm thinking of buying myself a birthday gift this weekend. What cd shall it be.. *strokes premature beard* I wanted to go to Sam's at downtown but it's too far =/ They have the best selection ever(from what I've seen around here).

I think I'll pick up Les Savy Fav's or Guided by Voices' best of. They good?

Tangy zizzle 02-04-2005 09:07 PM

No.

Buy this: Afghan Whigs - Congregation

Tangy zizzle 02-04-2005 09:19 PM
What's Nick Cave like?
He's amazing. Quite an aggressive singer/songwriter with awesome lyrics.

Definately check him out

Bandaid 02-04-2005 11:44 PM

'Get ready for love' is quite possibley the most foot-tapping-head-bopping 1st song on a disc in the history of australian music

Now you're allowed to post in this forum, I guess.

talk show host 02-05-2005 09:36 AM

Why can I not get enough of Mr. Bungle - California

Iai 02-05-2005 10:18 AM
Is Rufus Wainwrights new album worth owning?
I would say, yes, undoubtedly.

Today I have been going through albums I have but haven't rated yet on RYM. So I have digging Bill Hick's Rant In E Minor, and Fleetwood Mac's self-titled.

Later I shall probably get stuck into Penderecki's Matrix 5. Should be fun.

Zappa 02-05-2005 11:57 AM

I ripped 4 of my dad's Ry Cooder albums last night and this morning. I just put on Bop Till You Drop, and I like what I hear.

el doctor 02-05-2005 12:26 PM
Why can I not get enough of Mr. Bungle - California
Because it's more more entertaining and inviting than challenging. ;)

I woke up this morning to the sound of Air's Moon Safari. 'Twas a good morning. :)

Zappa 02-05-2005 01:13 PM

So I've been listening to some more Ry Cooder, and I've decided that his Paradise and Lunch album is something of a masterpiece.

Luxor 02-05-2005 02:16 PM

Today I've listened to:

The Fiery Furnaces - EP
Strike Anywhere - Change Is A Sound
Choking Victim - No Gods, No Managers
Thursday - Full Collapse
Between The Buried And Me - The Silent Circus

Is Ry Cooder that guy who is considered one of the greatest country guitarists ever? I'm pretty sure he even made the Rolling Stone list (somewhere in the top ten or twenty).

Zappa 02-05-2005 02:52 PM

I suppose so, yes.
