the beatles - rubber soul
the beatles - revolver
the beatles - sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band

of course all of these albums are awesome--specifically, really digging 'drive my car', 'norwegian wood', 'i'm only sleeping', 'here there and everywhere', 'tomorrow never knows', 'within you without you', and 'a day in the life' (best ending to a song ever).

also, FiRES WERE SHOT - solace--absolutely immense; new review coming soon.

I recently found a compilation of songs which appears to be really interesting; it is called Man & A Machine II, (it exists also Man & A Machine I) and you can find a number of songs of the punk, alternative and indie culture of the past. Artists like Suicide, Cabaret Voltaire, PIL, Laurie Anderson, Yello, Talking Heads and more. Tell me what you think...

You could listen to Hifiklub, a french group that released last month their second album 'How to make friends', I find it amazing! It's rock, electro, pop and you can dance like crazy listening to their music.

Have you ever heard of James Chance? He was one of the creators of the New York no wave scene, has collaborated with many artists like Lydia Lunch and Brian Eno; his new album entitled The Fix Is In is now out in a label called Le Son du Maquis which released some months ago the last record of A Certain Ratio. This album is a tribute to jazz and r'n'b so I think you should listen to it if you want to discover jazz music.

UGK - Underground Kingz

Banging this hard the past few days and probably for the next few weeks as well. Mostly the first half anyways. "The Game Belongs to Me" works wonders for me when I work out/go running.

Craw - Lost Nation Road (awesome metal infused math-rock)
Monolake - Momentum (awesome hi-fi electronic music)
Bark Psychosis - Hex (awesome talk-talk knock off)

poopie 04-24-2010 10:10 AM

I've always related bark and talk but I don't think there's any off knocking or anything, they're both pretty amazing. Did you hear bark psychs second one codename dustsucker? Untouchable, and no hint of talk talk

SugarCoatedSour 04-24-2010 10:53 AM

I'm working on getting that one. The similarities are in the production sensibilities and the weak british vocals (not a bad thing)

poopie 04-24-2010 11:20 AM

nah yea hex at times sounds a lot like some spirit of eden or laughing stock but mediaf1re.com/?jezvztynk1h

ween - she wanted to leave (reprise)

Minus the Bear - Omni

Would have probably hated this 3-4 years ago, I'm surprised how much I'm liking this so far. Guess I am getting old...

niobium 04-24-2010 08:04 PM

i do hate it currently never been younger

YDload 04-24-2010 08:27 PM

i've only heard a couple of songs from it. i probably wont like it as much as the first two albums that got me into MTB, but as long as they stay chill and keep that "nocturnal" sound i wont feel too bad
