Dunno, do they sound bad to you?

DrumIntoTheNight 01-28-2008 10:41 AM

Phil Phil Phil, need some advice.

I've been playing around with HDR photography a fair bit recently, and want to upgrade my camera from an old Nikon Coolpix 5400 to a DSLR. Got any recommendations for a decent one that isn't enormously expensive?

I don't really know what's on the market, or anything about DSLRs full stop, so if you could recommend me something, it'd be massively appreciated!

Is it wrong that a lower quality china (tosco) has the china sound that ive been looking for for quite some time?

Chippy569 01-28-2008 11:14 AM

no, especially one made in china. seems to make sense, eh?

MeaninglessPhoto 01-28-2008 11:17 AM

I played one of these the other day at my friend's crib and I fell in love with it.

Retarded Chipple 01-28-2008 12:12 PM

I really want a little jazz kit tbh.

-14" snare
-10 & 14" toms (all fitted with fibreskins)
-18 or 20" bass
-2 rides, hi hats & a cowbell.

That'd be sweet!

Well canon are releasing the EOS 450D soon so you should be able to pick up 350D's for dirt cheap.

I got mine for under £300 i beleive.

gimp fest 01-28-2008 12:23 PM

i'd get the canon 400D.

Cheers brah, I'll look into it.

Drum Phil 01-28-2008 12:27 PM

I wouldnt get the 400.

Its not as good as the 350 :) The sensor is a lot softer and the autofocus is a little weak.

Im upgrading at the end of the year.

So if anyone here is thinking about NOT seeing the new Rambo movie, Maybe this kid can change your mind...

gimp fest 01-28-2008 12:33 PM

lol "a little weak"..

the 400D has 9 point af, 350D only has 7.

the sensor is by no means a lot softer and is better quality by 2MP...

-TGP- 01-28-2008 12:34 PM

HAHAHAHA.

"A Sexman Film!"

Because MP = Quality.

Clearly.

Having tried both out side by side, the 350 is superior.

I'd take a Nikon D40 over a 400D.

no, not just MP. why do you think canon replaced the 350D with the 400D..?

because it's shitter? i think not.

haha, are you joking? why?because it's easier to use?the d40 is a good beginner camera, with a good sensor but the 400D is a step up from the nikon

-TGP- 01-28-2008 12:52 PM

stop talking about cameras and watch that damn video

Because canon upgrade every 2 years regardless.

The 30D was the same as the 20D with no changes other than aesthetic.

Have you ever put both through their paces properly? I doubt it.

In dark light, the 350 is quicker to respond to auto-focus and to discern light patterns whereas the 400 is slow and often miscalculates exposure.

Janeway 01-28-2008 01:36 PM

I started Anna Karenina...

The names drive me nuts. Shtcherbatskaya? Wtf?

The Mites 01-28-2008 02:06 PM

I bought an x-hat clamp thing... Kinda had to with a pair of Istanbul Agop 14" Signature Hihats on the way.

OMFG that 'Sexman' kid is fukin hilarious!

Drum Phil 01-28-2008 02:07 PM

I dislike X-Hat clamps since i started using a double hat stand rig.
