Do i know Black Metal now that i have a Burzum avatar Cocaine?

Dimmu Burger 04-13-2008 03:45 PM
Meh Victory records sucks and onyl has a few good bands

Century Media is where it's at
Yeah I like way more Century Media, Nuclear Blast and Metal Blade bands than Victory, but I love BTBAM, Darkest Hour and a few others.
No, I'm not. But even anyone with the plainest knowledge of BM can tell COF or Dummy Burger fit into the genre. Arguably they did years and years and albums ago, but not any longer.
I think we agreed that they are Symphonic Black Metal. So its kinda like black metal with symphonic elements. I don't think that is too far off.
Do i know Black Metal now that i have a Burzum avatar Cocaine?
lol dude that was great.

Tyler 04-13-2008 03:46 PM
I don't think that is too far off.
It is because you only got half right. Symphonic Metal.

Hawks 04-13-2008 03:46 PM

Haha. I had to do it.

Dimmu Burger 04-13-2008 03:48 PM
It is because you only got half right. Symphonic Metal.
Well I'm not all that particular about it, so Symphonic Metal will do. But it still says Symphonic Black Metal on my iPod, lol. Or it will once I get it back from the shop. Blah!!

encmetalhead 04-13-2008 03:49 PM

Why are we talkign about BM in the dXc thread?

Hawks 04-13-2008 03:50 PM

I have no idea. I actually forgot this was the Deathcore thread for a while.

Dimmu Burger 04-13-2008 03:51 PM
Why are we talkign about BM in the dXc thread?
Because of Hawks10Pec's former avatar. I complimented him on it, kinda.

Back on topic:

I think I can enjoy most deathcore bands in a live setting, but listening to it outside of that isn't as fun as it used to be due to the supergenericness of it. its gotten even worse than metalcore if you ask me.

Hawks 04-13-2008 03:52 PM

I agree. I've tried to listen to other Deathcore bands other than SS, but they all sound alike so one is enough for me.

Tyler 04-13-2008 03:53 PM

And yet you still picked one of the worst ones.

Hawks 04-13-2008 03:56 PM

From what i've heard SS is one of the best.

encmetalhead 04-13-2008 03:57 PM

Yeah you should've picked TTEOTD or FGOV (STILL PISSED OFF ABOUT THAT! still going to tag my shit with the From at the beginning)

Hawks 04-13-2008 03:59 PM

TTEOTD isnt really Deathcore. At least not anymore. Malice is pure Death Metal.

encmetalhead 04-13-2008 04:00 PM

Atleast you didn't try to pin them off as Melo-Death liek Mappy but of course WWMD?

Hawks 04-13-2008 04:01 PM

They are definitely nowhere near Melo-Death.

encmetalhead 04-13-2008 04:02 PM

*Waits for Mappy to crash through the Roof*

speaking of crashign throguh roofs...has Lunch been aroudn lately?

Tyler 04-13-2008 04:05 PM
TTEOTD isnt really Deathcore. At least not anymore. Malice is pure Death Metal.
Malice is also awful.
has Lunch been aroudn lately?
No. But you're asking this in the deathcore thread? Hah.

encmetalhead 04-13-2008 04:08 PM

Cause i knew a reg would be around to see it soon enough

masscows 04-13-2008 04:23 PM
From what i've heard SS is one of the best.
Animosity, The Red Chord tbh

Hawks 04-13-2008 04:26 PM

I've tried to get into The Red Chord before and i couldnt. Never heard of Animosity.

Dimmu Burger 04-13-2008 04:30 PM
Animosity, The Red Chord tbh
Actually I really like those two bands, and forgot they might be considered deathcore. Fine job sir.

Tyler 04-13-2008 04:34 PM
They are definitely nowhere near Melo-Death.
yeah they are

Hawks 04-13-2008 04:36 PM

How is TTEOTD close to Melo-Death?

masscows 04-13-2008 04:37 PM

they're melodic

they're death metal

1+1=2

Tyler 04-13-2008 04:37 PM

Because their music is more melodic than traditional death metal? Cuz the melody takes precedence in the hooks?

Hawks 04-13-2008 04:38 PM

I never though that they were that melodic. Then again i dont listen to them that much at all. But they definitely dont sound like traditional Melo-Death bands like In Flames or Dark Tranquillity.

Tyler 04-13-2008 04:40 PM
I never though that they were that melodic. Then again i dont listen to them that much at all. But they definitely dont sound like traditional Melo-Death bands like In Flames or Dark Tranquillity.
Um, In Flames and Dark Tranquillity are hardly "traditional" melo-death. They're traditional and representative of the Gothenberg sound, but that's about it. There's more than one kind of Melo-Death and the best flavours usually arent of the watered down Swedish variety.

Dimmu Burger 04-13-2008 04:42 PM

In the past I've made the mistake of mixing up the Gothenburg sound with melodic death metal. I've recently learned that stuff like Darkest Hour can be melodic death metal even though it doesn't sound like Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility etc.

Hawks 04-13-2008 04:42 PM

Well i dont listen to a lot of Melo-Death. Sorry im not an expert like you Cocaine.

Tyler 04-13-2008 04:43 PM

You should probably avoid definitive statements if you fully admit to being inexperienced in the pertinent subject matter.
