TojesDolan 03-19-2006 03:33 PM

I'll leave the computer for a while, then return and critique. I'm rusty as hell with writing, haven't had a chance to sit down and write.

I'll recycle, I suppose.

drumass04 03-19-2006 04:41 PM

Haha, t'is from a Charlatans gig I went to, got an Access All Area pass :D

I'll have a crit for you by tomorrow evening!

Yea mate, it's getting nasty out, where you at? I see midwest as your little thingy. I checked a doppler near here and it's gonna be around for a while where I am.

slack 03-20-2006 09:41 PM

Omaha. :amaze:

FA 03-20-2006 09:47 PM

Oooh, I live about 2 hours north of Omaha, I was down there for a show back in November. I love that town.

slack 03-20-2006 09:53 PM

Yeah it's pretty cool. Not as backward as most people probably think, but it's still got a little farther to go yet. I forget who was here in November, maybe Bright Eyes?

FA 03-20-2006 09:56 PM

Bright Eyes, yea. It was a terrific show. Spoon, Willy Mason and David Dondero were openers, at the Orpheum.

TojesDolan 03-22-2006 04:20 PM

Yes this place seems quite dead.

Anyhow, I'll be über busy this week, so I'll just come around and make small, yet profound comments on your stuff.

metaliq 03-22-2006 10:31 PM

I am reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Read it. It's decently short. I got halfway through it today, almost one sitting.

FA 03-22-2006 10:37 PM

If you want a short read, and a fantastic read, at that, read Night by Elie Wiesel. It's his experience in the holocaust and how he beings losing faith in God because of what happens. It's depressing, but a good read.

deathscreamingsheep 03-23-2006 10:43 AM

Metaliq- if you're looking at this thread have you got anything that I needs critting so I can return the crit you gave me? I couldn't find anything on the first few pages.

metaliq 03-23-2006 11:04 AM

Naw. I havent written anything since "For The Good of The Colony".

Maybe I'll write something soon though. We shall see, aye? :) Thanks though!

And I finished The Alchemist this morning. I think it's worth a read.

Now I need to finish Player Piano... the book I am supposed to read for school. I picked up The Alchemist the other day because it looked good and I dominated it. Hah.

deathscreamingsheep 03-23-2006 11:40 AM

I still think you can't go wrong with a bit of the old classic Frankenstein. I read it for English class a while ago (though I'm actually doing it again this year) and it remains on of my favourite books.

Sloth 03-23-2006 11:31 PM

so are there any writers around that are worth reading?

slack 03-23-2006 11:35 PM

They're all in LC.

metaliq 03-24-2006 02:29 AM

If Sloth meant authors... then here! :P

I picked up a few books.

The Alchemist - by Paulo Coelho
Blindness - by Jose Saramago
A Natural History of the Senses - by Diance Ackerman

Look into them. See what you think.

FA 03-24-2006 03:03 PM

aka justinhughes2

TojesDolan 03-24-2006 03:14 PM

Yeah I noticed. Nice name.

Reminds me of Bright Eyes.

FA 03-24-2006 05:29 PM
Yeah I noticed. Nice name.

It should, it's a song title of theirs. I really like the title :smoke:

slack 03-25-2006 10:38 PM

Ah, I forgot how good hockey is live. And now my head hurts. :(

TojesDolan 03-25-2006 10:40 PM

Oh do you need a pack of aspirins?

I'd get you some but you know. Internet.

Anyhow, I have some ideas for writing, but I haven't grabbed my pencil and all that jazz to start writing.

slack 03-25-2006 10:49 PM

At one point, some fat guy thought it'd be cool to take his shirt off and harrass a huge teddy bear mascot. I love drunks.

And yeah, ibuprofen > aspirin.

FA 03-26-2006 02:04 PM

All of those are simple placebos. Alcohol is the only painkiller.

TojesDolan 03-26-2006 03:18 PM

Yeah but only hard booze, like cognac, or vodka, or whisky.

Beer only makes things worse.

FA 03-26-2006 04:06 PM

Whiskey makes everything go away, not just pain. I like beer because it's fun to drink, it's all fun.

TojesDolan 03-26-2006 04:19 PM

I et dizzy after 4 cans in less than half an hour. Maybe it's ten minutes.

I prefer harder booze. I mena, with more than 10% of alcohol per serve.

FA 03-26-2006 07:20 PM

I promised myself I'd stay away from liquor for a little while, there was a time where I punished myself with it. So now I only party with beer, but that won't last too incredibly long. Beer's just fun, feels like you're always doin somethin'.
