Well, at least they got the "....awesome on Interstellar Overdrive" part right.

No one I know has even heard Interstellar Overdrive.
Same here.
I think if Roger does a tour or album or both (and there is talk of it) then the other members will tour too.
Ok, I don't want to be a prick, but no. It will not happen. I'm tired of saying this. I'd love for it to be true, but its an internet rumor. They have all denied it publicly many times.

As for Tool and Floyd, I like both, but I prefer Pink Floyd.

vashts80 02-11-2005 07:50 PM

What's the deal with there being two "Astronomy Domine" versions?

I have one on PATGOD at about 3mins, and then one on Ummagumma @ 8:30 or so...what's the deal with that?

I haven't listened to PATGOD in a long time. Bike pwns j00.

The one on PATGOD is a studio version with Syd and the one on Ummagumma is a live version with Gilmour instead of Syd.

Shazzam 02-11-2005 09:28 PM

yeah, the live version is almost always longer, and in Floyds case, better.

Oh I didn't mean like them touring all together, I ment both Roger's band and Gilmour, Rick and Nick doing a seprate tour. Unless you mean the indivuals doing a tour is just a rumor....because that would be the second time i got my hopes up over a Pink Floyd related tour this year. :upset:

Yea but I prefer Syd doing it live, I heard him doing it on the rare "Pink Floyd Video Anothlogy 1" whitch is amazing.

Gilmour, Rick and Nick doing a seperate tour won't happen. Gilmour has said many times he doesn't want to do a big tour. They also won't release an album, because Gilmour says that if they did another album he'd feel obligated to do a world tour, which he doesn't want to do. I'd love for them to prove me wrong, but it won't happen. It's a matter of time until the break-up becomes official.

Its ashame one of the most, if not, the most influential and greatest band from the 70s has to end like this, considering the fact hat everyone of them is still alive and healthy - and perfectly capable of making great music the same way they used to...but were just going to have to put it behind us eventually.

But at least we have one thing to look foward to...

Almost 100 pages of this thread :thumb:

Yea I agree it is really sad that they feel their ego is worth more then their insperation.

Distant Echoes 02-12-2005 02:34 PM

And the Pink FLoyd Thread hit a landmark...

I havent been to the cd store in months, i cant wait for my next floyd cd (obscurred by clouds), because i told some people id put up my new sweet acator as soon as i got. A floyd cd may cost $15, but a new avator is priceless.

and when spring rolls around in a month or so ill be working at the golf course again, and really pickin up some cash

Are they really healthy enough to do a new tour? Let alone a world tour? I really dont think Dave has it in him to sing for an entire tour.

Distant Echoes 02-12-2005 02:37 PM

Its not about the performance, its about the music...and the fans.

We all know good and well if Floyd went for a reunion tour, itd sell out in a second, and whether its the best or worst performance, its for the sake of the music. No band like Floyd, and god knows when another like them will come around, should end a trilagy like the way they are.

I just think they should put their hatred aside for a little while and do it for the world; and theyll probably never regret it either

But are the fans being too selfish to expect them to tour again? They arent 25 anymore. They are getting old, they dont have as much stamina anymore. They want to stay with their families, and watch them grow. Believe me, I would love to see them live, but I just dont see it happening.

Distant Echoes 02-12-2005 02:55 PM

Trust me dude, i dont see them together again either, but i really think aside from their ages, of fans and the band, they still should do it for the sake of music, so the Floyd trilagy doesnt die as a sad story...then they can call it quits

i think anybody of any age could find it enjoyable no matter how it turns out :thumb:

I think it was more selfish of them to let there egos get in the way of their music, I mean don't get me wrong there are very few people who I respect more then them, but come on guys really.

Elaborate about the ego thing.

Distant Echoes 02-12-2005 03:17 PM

Well he makes a pretty good point too. Rep + for him

and you too Gilmour...just for being you

DeusExMachina 02-13-2005 03:30 PM

I can totally understand them not wanting to do another tour. I don't think it's selfish of them at all. It is, after all, their band, not ours. We should just be grateful that we have their albums, and can listen to those.

guitarded_chuck 02-13-2005 03:37 PM

If they aren't going to tour again, they should just publically call it quits. Why do they want to keep getting asked if they're going to tour? Then again, maybe they will? (keeps wishing)
