Probably pretty similar to what it would have been like on Nuclear Blast or Century Media, but easier to get ahold of. :p

Deth 05-24-2005 12:49 PM

Century Media >>>>>> Roadrunner.

They would have fit in much better at Century Media IMO.

Does anybody else like the work Mikeal did with Bloodbath?

I thought they made a pretty cool record... for its genre anyway.

/is trying to raise discussion in this dead thread.

Kage 05-26-2005 04:36 PM

It needs it... :)

I've never heard Bloodbath...what kind of music is it?

Darkness 05-26-2005 04:39 PM

I believe brutal death metal is the right title for the genre. But its not like stupid brutal, and thus it doesn't suck. (how could anything with Mike suck anyway?)

Songs to check out = Ways to the grave, Like fire, Trail of insects.

Darkness 05-26-2005 09:22 PM

Uploading 2 songs now... wait for this post to be edited.

They sound awesome. :thumb:

I'm listening to "Windowpane" off of Damnation. That song has to be one of the best mellow songs ever written.

Darkness 05-26-2005 09:37 PM

^Thats my favorite off Damnation for sure. That and Death Whispered a lullaby

Heh, listening to that right now. Yeah the whole album is truely beautiful.

Magicaltroll 05-26-2005 09:45 PM

I like Closure and Hope Leaves the best.
The whole album is a masterpeice though if you ask me.

RouteOne 05-26-2005 09:47 PM

Did Damnation have a concept behind it?

Darkness 05-26-2005 10:00 PM

I don't think so, but I haven't annalyzed the lyrics very closly.

Another good Bloodbath song, Trail of insects:

I really like "In My Time of Need," off of that album. The vocal polyrhythm in the beginning rocks.

No, the only ones with concepts are MAYH and Still Life.

Bloodbath is pretty good. I don't like the production though. Bring in Steven Wilson!
Bloodbath is pretty good. I don't like the production though. Bring in Steven Wilson!
It's intended to sound like that. It was their tribute to old school swedish death metal, with the buzzing guitar tone, and gore lyrics.

Deth 05-27-2005 08:09 AM

I'm just obsessed with Wilson's production since buying Deliverance and getting into PT. He makes the best sounding records I've ever heard.

Check out earlier stuff like Stupid Dream, Lightbulb Sun and even Signify if you haven't already... very prog-ish PT. You'll most likely have to DL this stuff though because the earlier albums are rare.

In my opinion, Blackwater Park is his best-produced Opeth record. But yes, his PT stuff is amazing.

relliK 05-27-2005 11:20 PM

Death Delirium and Cry My Name are also great Bloodbath songs.

Kaiwaz 05-27-2005 11:58 PM

I've been listening to Deliverance a lot lately...It goes in seasons I guess...

The Flabbit Rides High 05-28-2005 08:43 AM

But the new albums going to be done alone..........

Might this signify a move back towards MAYH?

God I hope so.

Magicaltroll 05-28-2005 08:47 AM
But the new albums going to be done alone...
Whats that mean?

Darkness 05-28-2005 09:12 AM

Without Steven Wilson I think.

bucket 05-28-2005 09:17 AM

I've been listening to MAYH a lot lately. I never really listened to it before for some reason, but d*mn, it's like I bought a new Opeth CD or something.

:thumb:

Credence is pretty lame though

...probably because my friend sings the first line in it everyday.

BLASPHEMY.

Credence is one of the best non-heavy songs they've written. ven before the vocals come in, the low guitar is just so haunting and perfect.

Darkness 05-28-2005 07:05 PM

Got Lamentations today. I was so happy... I'm ganna watch it later tonight.
