i love the who but come on!500 years from now one rock band will definitly be remembered:the beatles. the songwriting alone is lights years from most bands and the impact on music they had even thirty years later is still strongly felt. they also revolutionized production and merchandising while opening the door to more progressive music.I mean I'm a huge fan of hendrix but i really think these guys were the best overall rock band.
The Beatles are easly the most importaint band ever but there is no best band it is just opinions compared to other opinions equaling a endless fight over who is the best. I think the Doors you think Beatles those losers in the metal therds think slipknot. Were all different.

11THX3MEM 08-05-2004 11:50 PM

Is Jeff Healey the blind guitarist in the movie "Road House" with Patrick Swaizey as the star? That guy did a jam up version of "Hoochie Koochie Man" in the strip tease scene!
Amen. Poisoning their minds with rap music...
ewwwwwww rap...

within you without you 08-06-2004 10:58 AM

my favorites are the beatles, led zeppelin, black sabbath, jethro tull, CCR, CSN(sometimes with young), ELP, ELO, yes, the doors, pink floyd, cream, foriegner, kansas, frank zappa, genesis, jefferson airplane(sometimes jefferson starship but they have a lot of the keyboard but then agian so does ELP), jimi hendrix, king crimson, lynard skynyrd, the stones, santana, rush, bufflao springfield(if you like them check out CSN), the who, sometimes the guess who, zz top, if you are a beatle fanitic check out some of ravi shankars stuff(the beatles met him during the seagent peppers time and he also thought george how to play the sitar), peter gabriel, george harrison, jimmy pages solo stuff, sometimes the byrds, john lennon. if you want to listen to a extreme bass player listen to victor wooten(the best i have heard), he has played with all the big names like neil young. i am only 14 and i never knew there was other people that listened to classical rock(all the people at my school listen to rap orpunk crap, then agian i live in berea right next to cleveland the mistake on the lake) Check out atomic rooster, there not very well known but are very good, there from englandm only one hit and it hit no. 4 on the charts which was devils answer. cant think anymore, I will post more bands later

mariomaniac13 08-06-2004 11:18 AM

what about Aerosmith? obviously one of the best bands of all time.

Bebop013 08-06-2004 11:20 AM

i haven't seen any one put foghat yet. i like all classic rock(not going to list my favorites because the list would be to long), and it does seem to be coming back,(which i think is due to a lot of movies advertising it) personally a hope it does'nt get very popular, i hate it when every 1 else likes what i like, RAP SUCKS.

PinkFloyd 08-06-2004 11:42 AM
what about Aerosmith? obviously one of the best bands of all time.
Not even close. Just because they have been around for 30 years does not merit them that title.

The Esoteric 08-06-2004 12:13 PM

Did anyone around the Chicago area (Badmoon?) see CCR Wednesday night at Ravinia? I went there and I thought they played a good show, though I wished they would have played Someday Never Comes.

Who does everyone think is better?
That's like asking who's better at breathing, a guy with 10 noses and 20 lungs or a guy wit 10 noses and 20 lungs and is blind...

sorry i'm a bit :smoke: right now, i love them both so don't make me choose :

BludgeonySteve 08-06-2004 01:36 PM

No rap bashers allowed i nthe thread. Most people who bash rap have only heard the mainstream mtv stuff. there is plenty of good rap out there :)

Hello, I love you
i have never talked to somebody who has felt the same way as me. the beatles came in and saved rock and roll. they are the most important band of all time and still will be the most important with out them we would of never heard of bands like yes, the doors, jefferson airplane, etc. It is a fact that they have saved rock. thank you bluetop

maybe so, but they do have some good stuff. although steven tyler has been known to irritate me on occasion...

BludgeonySteve 08-06-2004 02:22 PM

They are certainly one of the most popular bands of all time. They're fun to listen to and I like them :)

Yes it has ruined most teens but I am 14 and enjoy Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Robert Johnson, John Coltrane, Frank Sinatra all back to classical opera. Americia's youth has to relize that music has no age.
And yeah, classic rock is becoming extremely popular among teenagers.
at my school more people like nirvana or good charlotte than real music like led zeppelin, ac/dc ,steppenwolf, frank zappa. im happy i was brought up on guitar and rock .
my parents were around from the 60's so my music is based around the greats..
plus having to listen to my dad and brothers playin guitar while i was trying to sleep as a baby probably contributed

He's not really Classic Rock. More Contemporary Folk. But none the less, I do believe he is the greatest guitarist ever.
