OMFG, not EVERYTHING that Tool does is a clue to some goddamned mystic puzzle that transcends time, jesus CHRIST
Or is it?
OMFG, not EVERYTHING that Tool does is a clue to some goddamned mystic puzzle that transcends time, jesus CHRIST
None believers. *shakes head*

Edit: My main concern with that new (IMO fake) artwork, is that it's pretty much the background picture they used on the Lateralus tour, just darker looking. Tool havn't been a band to reuse imagery, and they've sure had a lot, I don't see why they'd start now.

Slipknotmxr24 03-21-2006 12:27 AM

well its gata be tough to be band for a decade and still have the imagination and creativity like before. once you reach the top, the only place to go is back down. screw the artwork though, im only interested in the songs.

misunderstood 03-21-2006 12:34 AM

This is an almost exact copy of a piece that was created by Alex Grey a few years back.
http://healinggifts.net/alexgrey.jpg
I thought the band would actually take a different approach on the artwork for this album...just cause this still seems very Lateralus-ish. Then again, they're working with Grey again and all his works are very similar so I can't expect it to be extremely different.

horseypie 03-21-2006 03:25 AM

Maybe the whole tool saying fool thing was a clue that it wasn't a real logo? Or is that what most people here were getting at...Ah well, can't hurt quoting the obvious can it?

Spiritofmosa 03-21-2006 03:58 AM

the album art is blanddd...

UpperDecker 03-21-2006 07:06 AM

So i supposedly downloaded the first song off the new cd. It sounds alot like tool but there are no vocals and its only 2 minutes n something and its supposed to be like 7.

Shadius 03-21-2006 07:54 AM

It's probably the Doom 3 theme tune, dude.

misunderstood 03-21-2006 11:51 AM

Is anyone in here a member of ToolArmy? I was considering joining pretty much for pre-sales (not that we have any US dates yet) and well they have some neat stuff that comes along with the packages, but I was just wondering if the membership is a yearly thing you have to sign up for? I thought I read somewhere that once you're a member, you're pretty much in for the long run..just trying to confirm this, I guess...anyone know? If we do only have to pay once then that's awesome and worth it, I think. Most fanclubs or anything else for that matter charges yearly.

Esoteric_Creator 03-21-2006 03:16 PM

Truthfully, I think the art is fitting..

Sure, it's Alex Gray again, but it really helps with the overall tone of the CD that we have been getting news on. The blue hues of the painting, the off center look, and a feeling of the image itself melting..

Though, I'm starting to rethink my original theory of the albums theme. With the art and the logo finally up it shines a new light to where the album is going. But who knows..?

Moses 03-21-2006 03:47 PM

It always seems like you have no doubt in Tool whatsoever. You remind me of a type of Flynn for Tool. It's what you think and that's perfectly fine but it's just somthing I noticed.

e p 03-21-2006 03:57 PM

am I the only one who still disbelieves the album title and track listing?

clearvision 03-21-2006 04:01 PM

Yes.

I'm gonna have to sort my pre-order out soon. It doesn't look like this b!tch will leak...

bwnstl 03-21-2006 04:11 PM
You get jokes.
Eh, I was actually being sarcastic too, although now that I re-read my post it definitely doesn't appear that way. I blame the alcohol.

Shadius 03-21-2006 04:39 PM
am I the only one who still disbelieves the album title and track listing?
No. I'm not believing much of anything til the CD is in my hands, this is Tool after all. They've pulled similar things in the past (The same thing, actually).

Flynns a good guy, leave him alone.

Moses 03-21-2006 05:24 PM

I know. Just has lots a fanboy tendancies.

He just loves the Morningrise album. Thats all.

Moses 03-21-2006 05:26 PM

Hey I have alot of fanboy tendancies too. Nothing wrong with it either.

/PoS ex-Nevermore ex-dredg

Darkness 03-21-2006 05:30 PM

Yeah, I think I nearly killed Nevermore.. I haven't listened to them really closly for a while now. Dreaming Neon Black is still one of my favorite albums though.

I'm currently not a fanboy of any band... though I have been digging old Blind Guardian and Iced Earth.

Moses 03-21-2006 05:31 PM

I still have alot of Nevermore and dredg plays but there's just no need to whore them anymore. They're so popular and the same thing is happening to Pain of Salvation slowly. The thread is atleast staying alive.

Darkness 03-21-2006 05:32 PM

I've never listened to any Pain of Salvation... yet I constantly hear you guys talk about them.

Moses 03-21-2006 05:35 PM

Exactly! I could send you a song or two if you'd like.

Darkness 03-21-2006 05:36 PM

Sure, I'll take a song or two. :p

:shrugs:

It's just I don't take the bands persona too seriously..

Through Tool's music I have learned many things, and from those things came an open flood gate. Yet, I'm not going to say that Tool is a zenith in my learning, but rather another step..

I don't think along the lines that "Tool can do no wrong", but the moment you "put the p u s s y on a pedestal" (in a way) you end up loathing the thought of something like Tool as having any relevance out of the natural need to want to rebel..

I think in the end *that* is a true fanboy. The one who sits in the corner yelling at the top of his lungs that Tool is not his boss because he (in the end) has taken them way too seriously..

This isn't targeted at anyone, but it is something I have noticed. It has become a fashion trend to "act" like Tool has no meaning for many people, or that they "don't take Tool seriously". Though, their main statment proves otherwise. Yet what they don't bother to think is that Tool has always given "food for thought" since the beginning. Would they not give "food" if they didn't want you to eat and digest..?

lol Maybe I *am* a fanboy, but I find peace in this..

:chug:

Anyone seen the artwork posted on toolband.com yet?

It looks strangely Aztec to me.

Kage 03-21-2006 06:28 PM

Thank you for this breaking news, but in the future, just read the fucking thread. It's on the page right before this.

EonBlueApcolyps 03-21-2006 06:28 PM

It looks like something out of the Sacred Mirrors thing.

YouGottaBeCrazy 03-21-2006 07:02 PM

Has anyone seen this "Eulogy" cover yet? It's not bad. The singer has such a different style from Maynard that it sounds really funny at times.
