3rdplanet 12-11-2007 04:30 PM
they probably wont play anything from that EP but thats ok its still good
This is true; although it can't hurt to hope they'll play a little version of Pony Up! just for me.

It's such a good EP. I can just play it over and over on repeat and not get bored.
Is that your first time listening to it?

Best 90's Sonic Youth.
I've had a real difficult time getting into it, but it seems like it'll grow on me.

I've also been digging Talking Heads- Fear of Music and Do Make Say Think's newest.

Neoteric 12-11-2007 04:53 PM

I loved it the first time I listened to it, some of the tracks are kinda hard to digest but in the end, it's worth getting into.

Bukowski 12-11-2007 05:59 PM
Is that your first time listening to it?
Nah, that was the second Sonic Youth album I ever heard. First time I've listened to it in a while though.

I think I agree with you regarding it being the best 90s SY, as well. Lee's songs on Washing Machine are so good, and of course, The Diamond Sea!

Bukowski 12-11-2007 06:31 PM

Nick Drake - Pink Moon

always an awesome listen.

Unwound- Repetition

is there anyone who thought i WOULDN'T like this band once i finally got around to hearing them?

pulseczar 12-11-2007 06:36 PM

Washing Machine is in my top 5 SY albums for sure.

Ash Ra Tempel - Ash Ra Tempel
Curtis Mayfield - Curtis

Curtis makes me want to fight for social injustices, and ART makes me wanna go eat people.

awesome, I'm really glad you like it. Mod approval ftw!

Washing Machine might just make my top 5 SY albums. I know my top 4, but after that is gets tougher.

Thanks 12-11-2007 06:43 PM

Glad to hear the Washing Machine love. I always felt like that one didn't get enough respect or general praise.

is Message Received not the greatest song ever? just blast it over and over

YDload 12-11-2007 09:15 PM

so far i like Lady Elect the best. i also like how the singer sounds kinda like one of the Sonic Youth guys. do they really only have one guitarist? do they just do a lot of overdubs?

Anus Invader 12-11-2007 09:38 PM

Rolo Tomassi - Rolo Tomassi EP
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=73VMLB35

2006 release from a bunch of 18/19 year olds from the UK. One of the most unique releases I've heard in ages. The sound is pretty intense...like pretty heavy screamo sections interspersed with awesome electro bits, ambient noodling and some awesome guitar bits. Apparently I really suck at describing this, but check it out if you think there's a chance you might dig this sort of thing. Saw them live last night and they were intense, can't wait for the full album.

its a legal free ****ing album. Thats actually quite good (especially on headphones, btw) You've really got no reason to not download it. Kinda reminiscent of M83 to my ears, but far less dramatic. I think pitchfork used the term nu-gaze, but that term is ****ing bullshit.

Rust Never Sleeps
Everybody Knows This is Nowhere
Live at Massey Hall 1971
After the Gold Rush

And for some extra weirdness, try Reactor, Trans, or Freedom.
