Yeah, a Chelsea top. Does anyone not even think that he's been a fan all his life? I mean, Chelsea have only just started getting good in the past 2 years.
I'd hardly call a fan of there's a 'glory hunter'. That's Man Utd fans and you know it. |
yay i adam accepted the add to my new myspace account

Those are some wacky pics. What are they trying to pull, now?
But St. Anger did have very good riffs, although they were over-used... At least imo...
0-3-5 0-3-5 0-3-5 0-3-5 0-3-5 0-3-5 etc. The thing i like about it is it hasnt been done to death by every nu-metal band in the world  |

sorry if anyone thinks im spamming this thread or w/e, but im trying to learn alot of the techniques used by adam jones, mainly in the album Aenima. i have a les paul, marshall amp (soon to have a mesa dual rec also) i have my guitar in drop D tuning, i use alot of delay, rakes, slides, etc. to get his effects, but what scales does he use in the songs???
I was thinking maybe natural minor, but im not too familer with it yet. ive been doing minor pentatonics since forever, and since adams solos have sort of a gloomy, sad feeling, im guessing its the minor scale. any help is much appreciated. |
I was thinking what sounds good is what he uses.

I'll sit at home watching TV with a guitar in my hands, and just start playing a riff over and over. It's weird. A lot of the stuff I do comes from blues scales.
There you go!!! |
I can't write music like that. I always sit down and figure it out. Of course it starts off as improvisation but then I have to build around it with progression and such. I can't really watch TV at the piano either.
Actually Adam Jones doesn't really use alot of blues stuff. Mostly D dorian. Solo-wise maybe blues but whatever. |

Riff wise, its mostly D minor and D phrygian. D dorian has that raised 6th, which gives it that major feel, not something often found in Tool music. |

Hey Jake, I have that Finale stuff you'd like for me to upload it. It does tabs too but I still prefer notation. I HATE TABS!!!

And who might you be? :p |

Lots of his riffs are D dorian. Most of Aenima and Undertow is anyway. I guess it depends on what era we're talking about. |
I'll be seeing Tool live this July, I'm expecting them to play a lot of new material.

i said learning techniques, not trying to walk and talk like him. besides, if can take bits and peices from 20 of the most influencual guitarists, i think that would translate into my own style and help me learn alot more about the instrument itself. thx for the input though guys. |
Well, there's a new logo up at the official Tool site along with some album artwork. The artwork isn't bad, at least I don't think so, but I'm not sure what I think of the logo. Anyway, anyone seen the new promo pics that are floating around the net? They're quite humorous..They're not like other Tool promo pics that have been released in the past.
by the way, is anyone else but me having problems with this site? |
^^ Yeah, I'm having problems too...the pages are taking way to long to load or not loading at all.
The artwork looks fairly good as well. |
The new logo is kind of gay, but I like the artwork. Enigmatic, yet not over-the-top. Cool stuff.
|
That logo is kind of gay. I like the one on the splash page better, they shoulda used that. The artwork is cool though.

123. I still hate the album title, though. |

Yeah, me to. I'm still having trouble believing thats the name... |
I love how the new logo says "fool" instead of "tool".
|
The logo's alright. The album art, on the other hand, kicks ass.
I love how the new logo says "fool" instead of "tool".
Hmm... so it does. A clue, perhaps? |
First time here. Does anyone have an idea on Tools set at Coachella. Is it worth the trip from Chicago?
|
No idea what the set is, but I'm sure it'll be more then worth it.
