Well, at least you borrowed it and didn't buy it. Otherwise you'd be feeling as if you've wasted you're money right now.

No I'm fairly sure there is a DVD for it. I've only got the CD, but I think I've seen the DVD in stores.

Kyle 12-10-2005 02:06 PM

yeah definately a DVD aswell, my friend has it.

Joe 12-10-2005 02:07 PM
yeah definately a DVD aswell, my friend has it.
I might try and pick it up. I already owe a couple of other threads of things I have to get (Pink Floyd live and How the West Was Won). One of my friends has a VHS of it, but he doesn't like Metallica so maybe I'll borrow it.

Kyle 12-10-2005 02:15 PM

yea, I was amazed when I watched the DVD. It made me appreciate Battery even more.

...How the West Was Won is awesome.

Congrats. I've seen Ktulu from that show, it's on launch.yahoo.com. I liked it. I think the best songs on there are MoP, 4 Leaf Clover, and Battery

One and Nothing Else Matters were good.
TTSNB sounds creepy and The Outlaw Torn was cool.

Oh yes, that's what I forgot. It's the best live version of One, period.

TTTSNB I don't like anyways

heavy metal kid 12-10-2005 03:20 PM

TTSNB isn't the best Metallica song, but i really like the orchestra's effect on the song.

Joe 12-10-2005 03:28 PM
TTSNB isn't the best Metallica song, but i really like the orchestra's effect on the song.
Yea, the orchestra sounds cool in the beginning. But I really can't stand that song. I think the intro riff is bad and the chorus is bad. The solo is cool, but that's it.

Oh yes, I never said why I didn't like Leper Messiah

1) I don't really like the riff at :20. It'd be fun to play, but it's not fun to listen to.
2) The bass is really quiet. Between :30 and 1:00 there are some awesome bass riffs but you can't hear them.
3) Don't really like the verse, especially when it's the chant.
4) Don't like the chorus
5) Wow, I like it starting at 3:15. I've never gotten this far in the song because I didn't like the first 3 minutes. The solo is cool. It would have sounded cooler without the wah.
6) Ok now I don't like it at 5:20

Ok, so 2 out of 5 minutes I like. Hence the 2 stars on my media player

I love the part at 3:15. But, I pretty much like everytihng in that song though...oh well. Fun to play along to IMO.

I haven't learned it. It's a really cool part at 3:15. I'll admit James and Kirk aren't the best guitar players, but when it comes to really cool riffs they've got them all.

Chris2401 12-10-2005 03:35 PM

hey guys whatsup?have been mising for a while!thanks for welcoming me to the forum, you kick @$$.I really like from s&m nothing else matters, for whom the bells tolls, one and the outlaw torn.i think they really did a good job on those.

I havnt learned the whole song though...but theres not that many rythms in the song realy, so I was okay. Cant say i have it perfect it.

havnt learned the part at 3:15.

So in otherwords, I meant to say playing along to what I know of the song is fun. My bad.

Joe 12-10-2005 03:41 PM

You know Chris, you can say ass by changing the size of a letter to 2

That works, I can't play most of there songs, let alone those I can play throughout. I can only play a handful completely.

mr black 12-10-2005 05:54 PM

S&M is pretty expensive here in Australia, but my mate found a copy at half price and my band got together and watched it. I'd already heard the CD's but its an experience to watch that dvd. One, Battery, Nothing else matters, clover, ktulu and puppets are all amazing on that dvd, i've never heard the MOP interlude sound so ... perfect, even better than studio. Watch the documentary on the dvd if you can, the composer/conductor hears that one member of the orchestra is a half tone out, which is a fair ear considering its made up of over 100 people

Joe 12-10-2005 05:57 PM

I agree completely. It's an unbelievable show. It was surprising to me when I went to go see Metallica they did No Leaf Clover and it was a little weird to hear it without the orchestra.

Neamhtrocaireach 12-10-2005 06:00 PM

Topic change:

Favourite Metallica cover?

mr black 12-10-2005 06:02 PM

Last caress, just sucha... feel good song haha :smash: However i only like the live versions, the album version (like the misfits one) is just to slow i reckon.

Joe 12-10-2005 06:05 PM

Astronomy is my new favorite, but overall I think it's Breadfan.

PepsiMetal 12-10-2005 06:05 PM

Yea, I like last caress the most also. Or maybe whiskey in the jar. not sure. Misfits' last caress is good too, vocals are bit weird though.

I'm downloading metallica at Rock Am Ring 03 vid now so it should be cool. They played battery, one, and some other stuff.

Joe 12-10-2005 06:06 PM

gocaps99@aol.com???

I'm not saying you have to send it to me, I'm just recommending you do.

PepsiMetal 12-10-2005 06:07 PM

It's not done yet, plus it's 700 MB. lol. I'm downloading it off of a torrent which is going at 30 KB/s now. Only 8 hours, my pc is on always so I might as well download stuff.

Do you have a link to it?

It's attached on a forum so you would probably have to register. I can send you .torrent file via email though, if you want.
